Chapter 570: Lost Within the Human World [I]

While Elaina is busy with the newly unlocked Almanac page, at the same time, inside the forest, a disturbance is causing all of the smaller animals to scatter all over. It didn’t take long before the space around the forest began to warp all over. It was strong enough to cause a mini hurricane in the area. The space is getting distorted as time goes on to the point that the smaller trees that are in the area that is getting warped is getting destroyed.

But the distortion didn’t last long. After a few minutes of destructive distortion, the anomaly stopped all on its own, and in its wake are three individuals hugging each other, protecting one another from the disturbance that happened recently.

"Is...is it over?" The heavily bearded guy looked around without letting his arms go from the two, who remained clutching themselves together.

The bearded guy glanced around the area, checking for any dangers that might be dangerous for them. After realizing that the incident is finally over, he finally let the other two go.

"Io, Arlo, looks like everything are safe now, I don’t sense any danger anymore."

After hearing what the bearded guy said, the two stopped hugging each other and looked cautiously on their new surroundings.

"Where are we, Darius?" Io, the fair looking woman hiding her head in a headwrap looked around.

"I don’t know. The surrounding area is incomparable to where we came from. It was like the whole area is overflowing with mana in the air. I am not even sure if we are still in the same region."

"Pa, I can feel that this is no longer the same place from where we came from. I can’t detect my connection with the others right now. Does it mean we have teleported a little bit too far than usual?" the small boy named Arlo looked worried. Just like Io, he also had his head wrapped by a headwrap.

"Perhaps. But we can’t be too sure. For now, let’s look around and see what we can find. The forest might look peaceful right now but there is a chance that monsters lurk on the surroundings. Best we leave before those beasts get attracted here," the bearded man named Darius suggested as he continues to be cautious on his surroundings. He can’t afford to let his guard down after what happened before they get transported to their new surroundings.

"Weird. I know we are in the forest, but this is the first time I am not experiencing or feeling any extreme bloodlust towards us. It was like everything has disappeared after the teleportation. This shouldn’t be the case, right? I mean, almost all inhabitants have been hunting us for quite some time, so that even at a distance, we can already feel the danger even if we are far from them," Darius is sweating bullets despite the surroundings are not hot at all. He is sweating bullets due to his fear of not feeling any danger at all.

"Now that you said it, you are right. I have not been feeling that for quite some time already. Did our perception got blocked after we teleported?" Io frowned. She is worried that their only way of identifying danger is gone as a result of teleportation.

"What if...what if we got teleported somewhere we are not getting discriminated?" Arlo guessed. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Doubt it. I didn’t activate a teleportation portal that is capable of moving us in a long distance. We should be just a bit of distance from where we are. Let’s get moving beforethey find us."

The other two nodded. It doesn’t matter where they are right now. Everywhere they go, danger follows. It’s only going to be a dream for them that they will ever achieve peace.

Just as when they are walking, Darius heard something, not too far from them.

"Someone is coming, hide!" Darius ordered.

Hearing his orders, Io and Arlo quickly jumped to the nearby bushes and hid themselves. Darius, on the other hand, cast invisibility on himself. He positioned himself not too far from the two. He does this to immediately transition to combat stance in case things get hairy, and they need to fight and to also ambush any potential attackers who can’t detect his invisibility magic.

They continued to hide until a few figures appeared nearby. Darius is ready to go into full combat when the people who appeared turned out to be kids. Kids who are much younger than Arlo. But they didn’t let their guard down. The two boys are carrying weapons. However, from the looks of it, they are using those weapons to hunt. They are carrying sacks of game since there are still marks of blood on it.

"We got a good haul today, Raye! Are you getting more capable the more you use your skills, huh? You got quicker compared to last time, too!" Arthur praises Raye’s new skills that he experienced.

"Haha, still can’t be compared to how you are mastering your sword. You are no longer relying on your ability to fire strong beams from your sword to defeat wild animals just because you can’t catch them. You have also improved!" Raye chuckles.

"I dunno if I should be happy with your compliment on me or not. It feels like you just dissed me with a compliment added just to ensure that I can’t complain," Arthur scratches his head.

"Oh no, I didn’t diss you really. No worries, there, Arthur. Now, let’s go home. The girls would be angry at us again if we get late for lunch. Thankfully, the forest has yet to shift. It would be really bad if we get caught up in the shift, it’s really annoying to find your way out of here if the place shift again," Raye made a slight misdirection of topic for Arthur to immediately forget what he said earlier. And it seems that Arthur did bite through it.

"True, let’s hurry. Can’t tell when this forest will do that. Getting late is one thing but getting lost here would be a bad thing. How about we race? Farm is not too far from here now anyways."

"Heh, I am not losing!" Raye quickly bolts ahead even when carrying his own sack of game, leaving Arthur behind.

"Ah dammit! That’s cheating!" Arthur also sprints ahead, trying to catch up to the first boy.

The two quickly disappeared, allowing Io, Arlo and Darius to go out from hiding.

"It seems this forest we are in is a dangerous place. Should we follow them? I can still detect their auras even when they are already far from us," Darius look at his companions.

"Let’s go. If what they said is true, then I don’t want to get swallowed up by the forest and staying here forever. We can hide here, but I don’t think it is a good idea to do so, unless we are desperate enough to shake off any pursuers," Io nodded.

"Kind of weird that I don’t feel any kind of hostility from them. Even kids back home are already showing hostility on us even if they are not showing it but for some reason, those guys are not showing anything. Also, I don’t know why but they lack certain features that we have. I have observed them a lot that I am quite sure they are different. Perhaps those kids are actually one of those beings called the Hornless?" Arlo wondered.

"It doesn’t matter if they don’t have horns or they have one, what’s important is we can get out of here and determine where we are. We needed to make sure any of our pursuers won’t be able to find us," Darius shook his head and focused his senses to keep the presence of the kids that passed by earlier and use them as their guiding path to exit the forest.

The other two, though nervous are also trying their best. They will be trying to see how they will be able to escape soon and hope that whoever that is currently pursuing them are gone for now.
