Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven
Chapter 365: Anomalous Hybrid
With the druid backing off, the others grew less confident plus the woman from the empire of steel wasn't interested in fighting either.
The Nephilim glared at Osiel and Wilflower with gritted teeth but he knew defeating these two would be nearly impossible.
Especially Wilflower, she wasn't necessarily much stronger than them but her law of wood and flowers made her nearly impossible to kill.
Her healing factor was ridiculous, fighting her would be a nightmare. They decided to retreat.
" I hope you can protect them forever Osiel the traitor." The Nephilim threatened then turned and flew off.
Osiel sighed, while she wasn't scared of these guys she really was not in a mood for a fight.
She looked at her friend, " Thank you for the timely arrival." She thanked Wilflower. Wilflower nodded with a smile.
" Come." She led Ved and the others in to the city, the two guards sighed with relief but then their bodies suddenly exploded into light particles.
Osiel led them in to her office, " You need a mercenary licence?" She asked looking at Ved and Naledi.
They nodded, she waved her hand and two cards appeared. Currently your cultivation places automatically places you at D rank.
Normally people with your cultivation level would be B rank but without mercenary points, I can't promote you.
The two of them nodded, they didn't care about that, they just wanted something of an ID.
" Here, these are the rules of the mercenary guild and what is expected of the mercenaries."
They took the pamphlet and skimmed through and nodded, it wasn't too binding and quite relaxed actually.
"You can leave now." She sent them out and was left with Wilflower in her office.
" Is it true? What you said about them?" She asked, she couldn't sense the divinity in Naledi and Ved didn't feel special even though he was a dragon.
Wilflower nodded and Osiel sighed, " You know what would happen if they fing out about him right?
Him being a dragon is already enough to be hunted down, if they find out his blood had such pure life origin energy, I'm afraid.."
She didn't continue but Wilflower knew what she was going to say and grinned, " Don't worry, it isn't just mother who wants to protect him.
Did you hear the rumours about the successor of the ancient beast king."
Osiel's eyes grew wide, " You don't mean?"
Wilflower nodded and puffed out her chest, " Those old foggies will not act, unless they want to start a war."
Osiel still frowned, " Still, the beast race can't take on all the others races by itself right?"
Wilflower giggled, " I think you're still underestimating how much those who are immortal value their lives.
None of them would willingly fight that old wolf to the death unless they have no other choice."
Osiel nodded, " I guess not, I do hope to see those two kids grow though, I have a feeling they will kick up a storm." She smiled.
------------------
Ved and Naledi walked through the wide street of the city but they could feel eyes all over them.
Killing intent radiated from every corner, they were certain if they left the city they would be attacked from all sides.
They went to the a real estate agent in the city and bought a large piece of land cash which surprised the agent.
Land within Eravel was very expensive but these two had brought a piece of land more then 10 thousand kilometres across.
That would cost around 1 000 heaven grade essence stones and Ved simply paid 10 legendary grade essence stones, the real estate agent had never even held a legendary grade essence stones in his hands.
It should be mentioned that above heaven grade, there's no longer an exchange rate unlike the first four grades.
Essence stones that can condense a spark of divinity from heaven were too rare and hard to find, they were a strategic resource yet these two just brought out 10 of them.
However this was not strange to Ved and Naledi, they were very rich, they were successors of people that probably stood above sovereigns.
Their wealth was hard to measure, Ved had found a mountain of essence stones in the secret vault of his black tower.
There were more than a hundred thousand legendary grade there and even a thousand mythical grade.
Unfortunately divine grade were too rare, there were only 10 but it made sense, the conditions for the creation of a divine grade were too stringent.
If one ever appeared even sovereigns would fight over it. The divine flames inside them could be directly converted into any law.
They were even better than law stones since law stones had a specific law to them, Ved having ten would attract the greed of everybody if it was ever found out.
In fact Naledi had 8 as well before but she found one recently in that inheritance palace of ice so now she had 9.
This was probably more wealth than entire sovereign forces. To them giving out ten legendary grade essence stones were a minor thing.
Obviously to not arouse suspicion and draw even more attention than they already had they pretended to be pained.
It didn't work, when news spread of their spending, even those who had no intentions of attacking them started planning in the dark.
This had nothing to do with them for now, they would deal with it later. Right now they were dealing with the three people living with them.
Naledi gave them some essence stones and told them to leave but they refused and chose to stay so she let them.
They started practicing the technique she gave them but they had to start all over again as mortals.
Surprisingly they made the princess the head of the formation. After creating their vessels they learnt they can use them to communicate with everyone who had a vessel of this technique.
This was a pleasant surprise to them since they can communicate and coordinate with their friends.
Also Naledi learnt why this princess was so valued, it was because she had a bloodline and cound use vessels.
This was probably why Vermilion wanted her, Ved knew that once Vermilion became a vampire he couldn't use his vessel.
They had stopped being humans and lost connection to the human heritage. They still retained abilities related to their vessels but they had been weakened.
It didn't mean they themselves had grown weaker, on the contrary they were much stronger.
But having relied on their vessels for so long, suddenly losing them was hard to accept so this anomaly of a girl was a mystery to them.
A half human, half mermaid who can use the heritage of both.
