Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off
Chapter 620: The Beastmen Were More Nervous Than the Mother
Su Qinglan finally stopped teasing Han Jue with her gaze and slowly walked back inside the room.
After spending an entire day outside, rolling through forests, fighting danger, and worrying about her family, she felt sticky and uncomfortable from head to toe. The first thing she wanted now was not sleep, not rest, but a proper wash.
Using the warm water Han Jue had prepared for her, she carefully wiped her face, neck, arms, and body. The cool feeling instantly washed away much of the exhaustion she had been carrying since yesterday.
Then she changed into a fresh set of loose clothes and finally let out a long sigh.
Much better; now she felt clean.
Outside, the sound of cooking drifted through the house.
Su Qinglan lifted her head slightly and immediately smelled the familiar fragrance of dumplings. Her stomach growled.
A few moments later, Han Jue entered carrying a large steaming bowl. The fragrance instantly filled the room.
The dumpling skins were soft and white while the filling inside was packed with meat and vegetables. Steam rose from the bowl, making the entire room feel warm.
Su Qinglan’s eyes immediately brightened. Without waiting for anyone, she picked up a dumpling and stuffed it straight into her mouth.
The next second....
"Hsss!"
Her eyes widened. It was very hot. She immediately began blowing air while chewing.
Han Jue stiffened on the spot. Even the three cubs sitting nearby stopped chewing their dried meat and stared at her.
After finally swallowing, Su Qinglan immediately raised her thumb toward Han Jue.
"Good."
Han Jue’s ears immediately reddened. The corners of his lips secretly curved upward.
The cubs watched their mother devour dumpling after dumpling until even they began doubting whether she was actually giving birth today or simply enjoying a feast.
Soon the entire bowl was empty. Not a single dumpling remained. Su Qinglan licked her lips in satisfaction and rubbed her stomach. Now, she is very, very comfortable.
Han Jue looked at the empty bowl and immediately asked, "Should I bring more?"
Su Qinglan hurriedly waved both hands. "No. No. Let the cubs eat." She was genuinely full now.
Just then, the system’s voice suddenly rang inside her head.
[Host.]
[Your daily activities of teasing your husband and eating food have now been completed successfully.]
[May I remind you that your remaining delivery time is now twenty minutes?]
Su Qinglan almost rolled her eyes. Inside her mind she immediately replied, "Thank you for your concern."
"But compared to giving birth, eating is obviously more important."
Xuyu fell silent. For several seconds. Then it finally spoke again.
[Sometimes I truly wonder how you survived until now.]
Su Qinglan smiled proudly. "Because I’m amazing."
The system completely gave up speaking.
Meanwhile, Han Jue had already begun pacing around the room again. His eyes continuously drifted toward her stomach. His expression looked far more nervous than the person actually giving birth.
Su Qinglan finally sighed. "I’m ready." She slowly lay back on the bed.
Han Jue nodded and started pacing again.
Su Qinglan watched him for a moment before asking, "Where is Hu Yan?"
Han Jue immediately frowned. "That tiger still hasn’t returned. He went to find the old healer."
Su Qinglan blinked. "Maybe he got lost."
Han Jue looked horrified. A Rank Seven tiger beast getting lost?
Before he could answer, footsteps suddenly sounded outside. A familiar figure entered first. It was An Mo.
The moment he entered the room and heard she was about to give birth, his entire expression froze.
For a few seconds he simply stared at her. He looked as if his brain had stopped working.
Su Qinglan waved casually. "I’m fine."
An Mo looked even more speechless. Fine? She was about to give birth. How was she fine?
Yet Su Qinglan looked completely relaxed. In fact, she seemed more comfortable now than she had all day.
"It’s my second time." She shrugged. "Nothing to worry about."
An Mo’s mouth twitched. Nothing to worry about? Only Su Qinglan could say such words while waiting for childbirth.
Before he could respond, hurried footsteps sounded outside once more. This time Hu Yan burst through the door. Behind him followed the old healer and Grandma Lin.
The old healer was panting heavily. Clearly Hu Yan had practically dragged him all the way here. The moment he entered and saw Su Qinglan calmly lying on the bed, he was stunned.
"You’re... not screaming?"
Su Qinglan blinked. "Should I be?"
The old healer nearly choked.
Grandma Lin smacked the back of his head. "Move aside."
Then she immediately entered the room. Following closely behind her was Lin Muyu.
The moment Grandma Lin saw the situation, her experienced eyes quickly swept over everything before nodding.
Good, Very good. The mother looked healthy. The cubs looked healthy. Everything looked normal. Then she turned around.
"Out."
Grandma Lin’s voice was neither loud nor fierce, yet the authority within it instantly froze everyone where they stood.
For a brief moment, the room fell completely silent.
"Out?" Hu Yan repeated blankly as if he had heard wrong.
Grandma Lin slowly turned her head and looked at him. The tiger beast immediately shut his mouth.
"All of you."
This time, there was no room for misunderstanding.
Even An Mo, who had always possessed a bad temper and rarely listened to anyone, unconsciously straightened his back under her gaze. The old healer coughed awkwardly and quietly took two steps toward the door.
"Now."
Nobody dared argue.
Hu Yan immediately scooped up the three cubs before they could protest. Han Jue reluctantly stepped backward, his eyes still fixed on Su Qinglan as though looking away for even a second would cause something terrible to happen. The old healer retreated after him while An Mo followed with a dark expression.
Soon everyone had been chased out of the room.
Bang.
The wooden door closed firmly behind them.
Inside the room, only Grandma Lin, Lin Muyu, and Su Qinglan remained.
Outside, however, chaos quickly began brewing.
Several powerful beastmen sat in the outer room looking as nervous as first-time fathers, and even Hu Yan was the same. The contrast was so ridiculous that the old healer almost laughed out loud.
Inside the room, the person actually giving birth was calmly rubbing her stomach and occasionally asking whether Lin Muyu had fun without her.
Outside, the beastmen looked as though they were preparing for war.
The old healer shook his head helplessly.
"If anyone saw this scene, they would think you all were the ones giving birth."
