Chapter 162: Last dance

When a person became an immortal, the limits of their magic and body would have been broken. Their magic would have turned superior in all fields to those who were underneath them.

"Run..." Jade yelled once more with her domain dissolving into thin air.

Alexanderia was first to teleport out of the arena. "He’s blocking all teleportation ways..."

A woman flew to the other side, pushing her limits to the maximum; her magic carried her to the tunnel above, yet before she could reach the entrance, a strike landed on her body. With that speed, her body crumbled before exploding in all directions.

Swinging his hand, he cleared the blood on his hand and awaited in the air once more.

"What should we do?"

Jade answered with heavy breaths, "There is nothing we can do." Between everyone, she was the only one that actually had fought against an immortal. Scarlet had to suppress most of her powers in order to not destroy earth in crossfire, yet with him, such luxury didn’t exist. Plus, they had only seen only one of his magics!

Hating the words that came out of her mouth, Jade said with sudden confidence, "I will kill him; just buy me some time."

"You want us to die?"

Alexanderia let go of all her magic at once; dark ripples shined on her katana. "We are going to die anyway."

Dark slashes came out of her sword toward the man standing above them, followed by more and more slashes in all directions; buying time meant to just be an annoyance to their hunter.

"Fuck you all." Another one of the men ran with a shield around him; before he could get away from their eyesight, a hand penetrated his chest from behind. The hand moved upwards, destroying the flesh and once a body.

Meanwhile Jade’s whole focus was on her system; after level 9 she received an ability called Last dance, its power was simple: Jade could kill whoever she wanted, but first she had to sacrifice herself.

"Even Ray can’t do anything at this point; this planet is doomed to be destroyed. At least this time I will save Ray!" Activating her ability, her body shined with a white aura.

Around her one by one, her companions fell, yet she had to focus.

In two minutes, only Alexanderia and the tank from before stood around Jade. The only reason they succeeded in protecting Jade was because the man in black didn’t attack her at all.

"Kings of the underworld are all dead; all that envious acts, life is full of sin. They enjoyed treating others like ants; now look at them. Their hunter said with his hands open in the sky, like he was praying to someone, "Since the gods have gone insane, it’s my duty to punish the devils."

Jade laughed, "You won’t survive much longer."

"If you want to use your ability that killed an immortal, it won’t work again."

Alexanderia looked at Jade. When had she killed an immortal? Her face was terrified.

"He might be right... My system clearly knows I time traveled! How the fuck does he know how I killed Scarlet?" Thinking was pointless; Jade continued her activation.

The last man standing had quietly gotten far from them. Using the small window, he wanted to run as fast as possible. A beam of light crashed down on him, swallowing his whole figure. When the light faded away, nothing had remained in his place.

In the depths of despair, Alexanderia let her katana fall from her hands; nothing could save her from the situation she had found herself inside. Yet as she saw a beam of light going toward the jade, her body acted on its own.

With all of her magic focused in her hand, she was able to weaken the beam to the point that it didn’t hurt Jade. But nothing had remained from her hands and half of her torso.

Coughing blood, Alexanderia fell on the ground. The king didn’t bother to finish her even.

Taking long steps toward Jade, she was struggling to activate her talent, but each time the same error came again:

You have used your one-time activation.

"He’s coming to save you."

"Ray..."

His hand grabbed her neck. "Dying is too much of a gift for you." His magic burned her organs and repaired them at the same time.

Slowly Jade could feel her magic moving out of her body; her level fell one by one. Her mind wanted to scream from pain, but she had no throat to make any sound.

"At last we met, Blood Angel." The king turned around to face a person filled with killing intent, throwing the unconscious body to the ground. A woman from behind him rushed to save her.

Ray watched as Marian tried to save Jade and the injured Alexanderia; no one else had survived. He felt a killing intent that he didn’t know was possible, yet if he fought, the other three would be in the crossfire.

"Can we take it elsewhere?"

The man in black laughed, "I will give you a choice; we can settle it in here or the capital of Earth."

If he fought in the capital, nothing would have remained from billions of people that lived there; even if Jade survived, she would have hated him afterwards.

"Let’s go." In a blink, both of them teleported above the sky of a vast city. Tall buildings surrounded them, with Ray’s somber star crimson.

Meanwhile, Marian took both of them to the mansion; Alexanderia’s wounds would have taken time to heal, but she could talk.

"Ray would die too..."

Marian sighed; she didn’t know what to do. "Rest."

Tears fell from Alexanderia’s eyes. "I’m sorry... I’m sorry... It’s all my fault..."

Marian hugged her old apprentice, keeping her wounded body in her arms. She wanted to calm her down, yet no wards came out of her mouth. Like a statue, she stared at the broken girl in her arms.
