Chapter 165: Broken people

"So what is your plan?"

Ray shook his head; in the upcoming days after the slaughter, news finally reached them. Not only king of silence but also General Armstrong had become an immortal too. The brain had made millions of vessels; the military had taken over all of the earth by force.

With the video of what King of Silence did to the kings of the underworld, no one dared to go against the current military.

Ray had turned into the most wanted man once more; the number of casualties from his fight was unknown, ranging from five to six billion. At that point no one knew who to root for.

"Only an immortal can kill another one." Ray said with a dry tone.

Cindi crossed her legs. "Becoming an immortal takes time; the task to break the wall is not easy. Even if you have enough resources, this place can be hidden for less than a month."

Receiving no answer, she continued, "Instead, come to Mars and join us. Taking your time, you will return to take your revenge."

"It’s too late." Ray sighed, "Right now only one of the four known magics is immortal level. When all five become immortal, we both know it will be helpless."

Both of them stared at each other in a weird silence.

"Goddess squad wants to recruit them, right?"

Cindi didn’t want to answer, but the truth was better to be told. "Yes." We doubt that Fereya helped them from the beginning. They can turn into strong pawns."

That was the most basic rule of the world; people were after more power. Only power could bring more power, and King of Silence held the most power between all of them, so common sense was to be on his side.

If their doubts were true, they played both sides from the beginning; that way it made sense on how they knew that Jade could kill an immortal.

They had made a safe gamble and now they could see the results of it.

"When I’m done in here, I will help you kill them." All that Ray could think about was killing.

He had lost Jade; they had transported her to a small village. Even staying in the mansion hurt her. Before leaving she had refused to talk to Ray at all.

Marian and Alexandria were even worse; Alexandria each day pushed her body to the point that it would break, and Marian just sat on a sofa staring at the wall.

"I must ask for your help." Ray had decided on what to do for a day already.

Cindi raised an eyebrow. "If it’s in my power."

"Take Marian and Alexandria with you to Mars; I will give 5 million dark crystals for each of them. Both of them have insane potential; help them become immortals."

"They are the closest thing you have as an ally."

"In their current state, they will only get themselves killed." Ray said in an emotionless tone, "And if I fail, I know there are people that will get revenge."

The decision and resolve of Ray surprised Cindi. She thought of him as a calculating person like herself that wouldn’t risk his own life.

"Why go to this extent?"

"If I fail at this stage, I’m not worthy enough to advance in my life. There is someone with pure magic that can do thousands of magic at the same time; if I run each time, killing myself would be a better option."

"You are a fool." Cindi couldn’t hide her smile. "I will take butlers and the two to Mars with me."

"If possible, I would like to stay by Blood Angel’s side, my lady." A butler jumped between their conversation, "Sorry for eavesdropping, but I would like to see his fate from up close."

Ray stood up from his seat, walking toward the shorter boy; he enjoyed his cooking. They talked about different matters at times. Ray enjoyed his company at times. His eyes told him that the boy had made his choice.

His magic strangled him as he fell asleep. Fay returned toward the immortal, "Tell him he will see me on Mars."

The path he had chosen was a path of hardship and thorns; only he was responsible for the future that came on his way.

"One last thing, should I be worried about Earth, Blood Angel?"

"My path will be made on the corpses of my enemies, but earth has another protector too. Don’t worry." Ray wondered about another figure that had hidden until now.

Cindi had a guess about who he was talking about: "Guardian will show himself, but he might not be on your side."

Ray said nothing and returned to the chair. Many unknown factors were in his upcoming plans, but they had to stay for their right time.

"I should be going; the least I can say is to don’t worry about the goddess squad. If they announce king of silence as their member, we will attack earth ourselves." ’S magic swallowed everyone in the mansion except the two of them.

"Thank you."

Cindi winked at him. "See you." Flames took over her body as she teleported to a far planet.

Going through his inventory, Ray had 7 million dark crystals. He needed 4 million of them to max out his abilities and the experience needed for level 9.

The biggest obstacle to becoming an immortal resided in the last mission that it asked the person to accomplish. People called it the immortal wall; at times it took them decades to complete the mission.

Ray had heard stories about it wanting to kill monsters that didn’t even exist on earth. It all ended in one thing, luck.

Yet Ray didn’t believe it; to his belief, at the heart of the system’s unfairness, its goal was to let people grow. Whatever task that he had to do was possible; just the road to do it was the problem.

He moved toward his crating station in the basement; they had moved the cube of pure magic and all his other stuff to there.

"Got a lot of crafting to do!"
