Chapter 177: Battle of beasts 3

Ray coughed blood; his situation was worse than any other fight that he had been into. Even though he could sense the general’s body, his spirits were still unseen, and his own body wouldn’t get hurt unless Ray was in touch with him.

With his healing magic only focused on his vital points, from his robe, blood dripped. With cuts and bites all over his body. The most severe one was his left eye; the general himself had taken it out.

Only pulses of his healing magic remained, and his opponent’s attacks were getting only more fierce. "If I’m going to die, I will enjoy it at least."

All the roads were closed. Ray was trapped inside a spider’s web; the more he tried, the deeper he fell.

In the ancient times, humans were constantly fighting for their survival, with no magic or any advanced artillery. Just with rocks and their hands.

"Have you gone insane?" The general asked with his jaw dropped; Blood Angel first dismissed his scythe and then took out his robe. With oversized pants, he landed smoothly on the ground.

His hand took out his other eye; blinded Ray took an offensive stand. In his mind, eyesight became a distraction; it was a trait between predators, not humans.

With his instincts getting sharper, their imaginary scenery came to being in his mind; he had 9 spirits that he could attack, 9 animals for him to hunt.

A rhino charged at his legs; Ray’s punch landed on its forehead, destroying its bones, but it was enough to stop the rhino.

Letting go of all of his emotions, Ray returned to his basic form as a human, an animal. For a wild animal to hunt another one, it doesn’t have any killing intent; that’s the way of the world.

"I can see them..." Ray said with a calm voice to himself. A beetle attacked, but Ray had already moved behind its back. A lion’s claw tore apart his leg. Yet Ray’s mouth took one of beetles’ wings and pulled out flesh and blood.

Spitting the blood on the ground, Ray once more got in the same stance. Green blood flooded from his mouth. "This means they can die only by my own hands..." Rhino from Perior had taken a straight hit from Scarlet Crimson but was completely okay.

The general himself attacked Ray, teleporting behind him; his kick wanted to land on his head. With two rhinos blocking his way out.

Wings grew from Ray’s back, sending him toward the rhino that charged with insane speed. Understanding his intention, a lion tried to stop him with a bite.

Ray sacrificed his hand to the lion; it wanted to cut it in half, but a smirking Ray stared into its eyes. Using the hand, Ray lifted the lion’s heavyweight and threw it straight to one of the rhinos.

Feeling the lion’s aura getting weaker, Ray healed his hand until it could barely work.

Seeing the sudden change, the general started to engage with him personally. Yet none of the attacks could land on the smaller figure; he always dodged.

"How much longer can you last, blood angel?"

Ray didn’t respond; his focus was elsewhere. "It should be this one..." His senses expanded with each strike; he could sense them even when they didn’t want to attack. All of them were in the corners of an invisible domain, with an expectation lurking in the ground.

Tensing up his muscles, Ray jumped into the air. A whale’s mouth devoured the ground beneath him, with its huge mouth moving toward him.

"Only a fool fights without his magic." Ray’s wings took him into the whale’s mouth; instead of summoning blood, Ray only used the blood of his own body. They twisted and took the form of a scythe.

The weapon penetrated the whale’s skin; with eight wings, Ray dragged it inside its mouth. With the final cut, he cut through its flesh into the air.

The aura of the whale vanished away. Ray looked at the general; with no eyesight, he wondered what his face looked like.

Ray could stop his body shaking; the excitement of battle ran through his veins.

Lion’s tail aimed for his waist, with all of them coming after him. With blood forming claws instead of fingers, Ray smirked.

The slaughter began.

His body moved purely on instinct; his claws tore apart flesh, and his teeth pulled out organs from different animals, all while his smile didn’t fade away.

In minutes the only things that were left were the lion and the general himself. The general commanded the lion, but it disobeyed. The spirit’s existence shook from fear.

Taking long steps toward the lion, its body was paralyzed from the mere presence of Ray alone. In its eyes, it was looking at a dinosaur way behind its limits.

Before Ray could finish the job, it disappeared into thin air.

If an immortal’s domain were to be broken apart, they had to face a backlash. With all of its spirits dead, General lost his concealment and half of his transformations.

With a scream, he fell to the ground. His muscles lost half their mass.

Using the last amount of the healing he had, Ray looked at the immortal in pain behind him. His chest and head had returned to human form, with his lungs looking for air.

Star crimson appeared in his hand; with a mocking voice, Ray said, "Guess it’s my turn."

Armstrong saw death crawling closer to him; it was breathing on his neck. "How is this possible..."

"Your magic is not a slave; you made the spirits do whatever you wanted without being one with them." Regaining his eyesight still hurt his mind. "That’s just the type of person, thinking everyone should follow you just because you have more power."

"I am stronger!"

Ray laughed at the pathetic words, "Look at you, fallen on your knees, ready to be butchered." A grin spread on Ray’s face. "But I will stick to your magic; my blade won’t kill you. I will tear you apart by my hands."

"Inferno’s door."
