Elven Encounter With A Blood Seeker
Chapter 221: Partners Forever
Aselia wore a glum expression as she held Yurian’s hand and sat beside him while he slept in the medical area of their headquarters. Aldridge, Silver Wolf, Wasp and other hunters had visited and inquired about his status. The doctor informed them that he needed some rest and will be back to normal soon.
Wasp stayed for a while but her phone kept ringing and she kept answering it. "Either put it on silent or come back without it, I don’t want his sleep to be disturbed," Aselia finally spoke up when her phone rang for the third time.
"Sorry, I have some urgent calls coming up, I will return later," she was afraid of the glare Aselia had given her and fled the room in a panic.
While everyone came and went, Aselia didn’t leave his side for a single second. Her worries had deepened, how could she put him under so much stress when she knew his condition? She was ashamed of herself, always relying on him, pushing him to his limits.
He slept like a child, for now, so peaceful and so calm. Aselia had turned off his cell phone, so no one would disturb him. She was in no mood for anyone to disturb him, especially Xiran.
So she texted him herself to explain the situation: "Yurian is sick, so stop calling and texting him for hundred times a day. He won’t be available to you neither will I. He needs rest and our phones won’t be accessible. Besides, I don’t want to talk to you, so don’t bother," she turned off her cell phone too after that.
After resting for a whole day Yurian eventually opened his eyes and surveyed his surroundings. Aselia seeing him finally awakened, smiled:
"Hey! You are awake, how do you feel?" she gently squeezed his hand letting him know she was there for him.
"Better, sorry I scared you," he was apologetic as he tried to sit up.
"No! Keep lying down and you have nothing to be sorry about. It’s my fault, the way I burdened you, I didn’t even see you were stressing out. I will be more careful," Aselia softly spoke to him, his screams still echoing in her mind and her mind drifted to first time it had happened.
They were returning from a stressful mission about four years ago. A vampire had injured Aselia and she was bandaging her wound in the plane while Yurian sat beside her. He kept staring at her injured arm and then started screaming.
He lost control for the first time and called her his sister. Aselia wasn’t very thrilled at that time to have him as her partner. He screamed and spasmed and she couldn’t help but take him in her arms and to her astonishment, he calmed down. She didn’t know what else to do except to hold the boy and it was enough.
Later, when he came to his senses, Yurian told his story to Aselia and cried for the first time. This melted all the ice she held for him and a beautiful bond developed between them afterward, where they always looked out for each other.
Seeing him in this state again was stressing her out too much. Yurian saw the solemn expression she held and spoke: "I am fine. I went to talk to Wasp and she started yelling at me, hurling insults that how we were using connections to get our way. It’s safe to say she wasn’t thrilled to not have me as her partner and used not some nice words for you, which made me flip."
"Yuri, ignore her. She is not worth our time. But really it’s my fault too, I stress you out when I should be the one looking out for you."
"You always look out for me, don’t blame yourself for this too, I know what you are going through and now you have to deal with me as well," he averted his gaze and spoke in a small voice.
"Yurian, don’t ever think that you are a burden on me. You are very important more important than anyone else because you are family," she smiled at him and he nodded.
"So, how long was I under?" he questioned her while trying to sit up again and she guided him and positioned a pillow behind him, so he could sit comfortably.
"One whole day," she answered and he gasped.
"Oh! My phone, Xiran would be worried sick," he frantically searched for his phone.
"No, he won’t. He kept calling you so I switched off your phone and texted him from mine that you will not be his operator for a while. Now he will be texting me a hundred times but mine is off too. So let him fret a bit," she just shrugged her shoulders and Yurian had to purse his lips from forming them into a smile.
"Give him another chance, talk to him," Yurian requested.
"I will think about it but let’s focus on you for now, should I order some soup for you? Or anything else you will like to eat?"
"Partner, did you eat anything? Or have you been here with me all along?" he knew she wouldn’t have left his side.
"Nurses brought me food and I wouldn’t be anywhere else than beside you," she went on to pick up the extension phone in the room and called down to the cafeteria to bring up some soup and bread for Yurian. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She then returned and sat down on the seat near his bed and said: "Let’s go out the day after and have some fun, it has been quite a while since we enjoyed ourselves and both of us have been under so much pressure and work."
Yurian knew why she wanted to go out the day after tomorrow but this was going to be a conundrum for he had already made some plans.
"Alright, but on one condition. I will schedule your whole day and you won’t object to any of my plans," Yurian suggested, hoping she won’t deny him.
"I am in, I will do as you say."
