Chapter 335: Arrows Of Hope

Xiran’s POV

He casually sat in front of me, watching me with his dead eyes. There was no hint of a smirk on his face today, just a bit of annoyance. My eyes darted from him to his right where a ceiling-length glass cylinder had been hoisted, and what shook me to my core was the presence of a being inside it.

An elven girl who resembled so much with my Aselia cowered inside it wearing only a flimsy gown. Her face and visible skin had numerous wounds, gashes, and bruises. Her emerald eyes reflected the shock and horror she had been through at the hands of the monster which sat beside her, the monster I called father.

There was this unsaid plea in her eyes which punctured my heart and made my jaw clench and fists ball up.

"Today I will end your cycle of injustice and cruelty," I yelled at him, with as much hate as I could muster.

"You don’t even know what injustice and cruelty are my naive son," he mocked, getting up from his seat and casually sauntering over to me.

My body instantly went rigid, going into fight mode, I narrowed my eyes at him. Deep-seated hatred burned brighter and brighter inside my heart today.

He pressed his hand on the motion sensor of the glass cylinder and it slid open. He reached out and grabbed the scared girl by her hair and dragged her out. She whimpered in pain and tears began to flow down her sunken cheeks.

"Let her go," I shouted in rage and almost flew towards him against my better judgment. This was his trap for he was ready, dropping her in an instant, he straightened his hand and throwing all his strength behind it he rammed it into my stomach.

A mountain of pain descended on me as I flew backwards from the force and hit the wall behind me with a loud thud. Cement and bricks fell from it all around me and I groaned.

He was over me and grabbing the scruff of my neck he lifted me and brought his face closer so that I could clearly see into those bluish ice crystals he called eyes, fort hey held nothing except coldness. Like a black Mumba, he hissed out:

"You think they are so innocent, don’t you? While in reality, they are the most despicable creatures to ever roam our world. They are the ones who gave birth to the word ’discrimination’ and I won’t stop till I end all of them, including your precious Aselia."

His words blazed me like wildfire, inside and out and fuelled my hatred even more. I never understood his incessant hate for elves. I roared like a mountain lion:

"Don’t you dare take her name from your filthy mouth," it pained me to even comprehend what he would do if he was to ever lay his hands on her. My gaze went to the girl on the floor, who had crawled to a corner, her arms were wrapped around her legs as she softly cried and hugged herself.

I pushed my father forcefully with all the resilience I possessed and a piece of my shirt was torn and left in his hands as he staggered back a few feet. He was stunned at my strength, I could see his eyes widen but he straightened himself.

"Still so attached to your little elf, it will be fun when I will have my hands on her soft body and..." I didn’t let him finish as my fisted hand connected with his face in a punch which contained all my pent-up frustration, hate and disgust for him. The anger which coursed through me burst out like a volcano and wanted to reduce him to debris and ash.

"You bastard!"

I punched him again and again until he began to spit blood from his mouth but there was this teasing smile on his face and I knew he had been able to rile me up. He had a plan up his sleeve, as he always did and was only stalling for time.

So I reached out in my pocket and retrieved the metallic vial with a hidden syringe and tried to inject it into his neck. But he saw my action and before I could pierce his skin, he went for the vial and a tug of war began between us.

"You want to kill me your own father for the sake of these treacherous beings," he growled like a feral dog, his lifeless eyes bore into mine which didn’t seem so dead as some kind of emotion flickered inside them. An emotion I couldn’t decipher.

The vial although metallic was crushed by the force he applied as he couldn’t snatch it from me. The liquid inside squeezed out and dribbled down on the floor. This infuriated me and I punched him so hard that he staggered back and hit the glass cylinder, breaking it into million pieces. The girl screamed and covered her face so shards won’t pierce her as they flew all around the room.

"I am doing this world a favour, ridding it off you," I shot back moving in on him, picking up his study table I banged it on his head. But it didn’t affect him in the slightest, reaching out he grabbed my leg and pulled me down.

I turned to face him and there were cuts on his neck which were bleeding, there was this seriousness in his eyes as his hands clasped around my neck. I tried to fight him off but he was still stronger than me, his grip tightened and I began to choke.

My hand went to his face and I clawed at his flawless skin, while he threw punch after punch at my face. His hand never left my neck where black veins had started to appear and spread.

Suddenly an arrow flew and pierced his neck and then another. They had small vials attached to them, which emptied inside his skin and his grip loosened as he backed down.

My head snapped in the direction of arrows, it was Zir. I had made backups and given extra vials to Silver and him, just in case, I failed. And he shot another and it went straight in my father’s Adam’s apple.

He let go of me as shock descended in his eyes and fear? Did I see fear flash in them? He staggered back and heaped on the ground and I knew he had lost his powers. There was a look of defeat in his cold blue eyes.
