Master Of None
Chapter 2869. Pulled Away
"Alright, so we have mostly finished what we could do for now?" Su was looking at Gil who was sure that he had sped up the work he had walked in to.
"I think a few of the crafters who just arrived were talking about expanding the stables since they believed there would be a need for more space within the next three years. Otherwise, I think that we should ask onyx about the books moving from the main library and being brought here for copies."
Since Gil knew that a lot of techniques related to archery and crafting had been copied in to easier to read books for students, he wanted to be sure that this was something that was focused on.
"Actually, I suggested that this was a task for the guards being trained here as part of their basic education by the military training academy. That way they can have experience escorting books and other students also working to learn. It will help connect the guards who train to defend and the students who may rely on them."
The group was very impressed with the idea since they knew for sure that it would have been a hard way to connect both sides without his idea. Even more so since the guards could have developed a long term belief that they were here as an absolute force above the others learning within the academy. Bringing them together now would prevent issues in the future.
"So that's why there are adventurers here teaching too? I heard them planning that they should work with the survivalist teachers and also work with the merchant teachers. They plan to have a class that brings together other young class users who may venture in to the wilderness." Remey was even happier hearing that the idea had been brought and taken by multiple groups within the academy.
"I heard that you enhanced their ideas Remey. Apparently they worried about how people may interact with the herbs planted within cities and towns. Some of them are not very safe to eat or just grab, so there is a basic herb identification class for people to learn what herbs are planted for the public to use as they wish as long as it is within reason."
With the group praising one another, they knew that they had been doing enough. Especially in relation to the fact that they were now seeing a crossing of paths for the plans that the educators were making.
Not to mention some help stopping arguments between masters in their fields. Plenty of situations where people were taking things too far from the basic foundational levels that the academy was being made for.
"I helped test the flying grounds!" Midnight's enthusiasm was not simply because she had been helpful in various places. While she had at first been focused on helping in a specific area, she had quickly realized she would be able to assist in almost every training ground already having safety precautions taken.
"I heard that you had helped test the magic dummies before. Some of them were made too weak for certain races so they would not allow an accurate gauge of advancement past the basic levels of certain spells. But if you helped in the flying training field then I bet you were testing those rune formations based on the elven rings?"
Su was referencing the rings that protected those who ventured in to the forest elf homes city. Rings that allowed for people to fall and be halted by wind magic that would keep them from dying.
A talented rune carver had made those rings in to a massive rune formation that would allow for anyone failing at flight of just about any kind to be caught by wind magic. It was very advanced and had managed to win the carver a wind rune carver class advancement. Something that they now pioneered within the academy since their expertise would be needed for the various young students learning to fly in the future.
"So the only issue we have is Walker now?" Gil looked at everyone who was wondering what happened to Walker in the midst of all things going on.
"We all helped and he was making waves in the subjects of history and cultural lessons. But he didn't say anything to anyone when he left this morning. They all thought he had gone to retrieve materials, instead he stopped by a healing section used for various types of healing so that he could leave notes from Alice for her subordinates working on the area." Su knew what he had done but not where he got to after that.
However, Walker himself was facing something unexpected while everyone questioned his presence.
'Quest: survival of the bubble race
Requirement:
The bubble race has faced potential extinction within the water elemental plane as a new elemental plane has just melded with it causing them to be consumed by a new species of monster. Save them.
Reward:
Acknowledgement from the god of water within the world.'
Not only did he find himself absolutely stunned that he had a quest between the elemental plane and the world, but it felt like the quest wasn't even the same as it had once been.
Usually the system in place that existence or the world or whoever it came to be would have things a little more organized. This felt more like a voice had just causally given him a task or was asking him to act?
He couldn't decide how he felt about this but he knew that he would not sit idly when he found out that an entire race was about to be extinct if he didn't act to assist them.
There was also the simple fact that he was going to be acknowledged by the god of water if he helped?
How did that work?
There was the water elemental king within the water elemental plane. They would be the embodiment of water at its entirety not to mention that they would most likely not enjoy being put in the same boat as a water god in the world. Odds were, that they were entirely separate in the foundational theory behind what they were, but one would live and exist within the world where water was part of a flow and the other would remain within the water elemental plane that gave them existence.
Regardless of the odd relationship the two might have, let alone the forms and existence they possessed, Walker was struggling to understand if the reward would even really be worth it or if he should be more worried about another god class user existing now or waking up. However it worked and happened, he just started to move quickly after leaving behind the notes and new books that Alice had asked him to bring her healers working to build their educational base within the academy.
Of course the education for healers was primarily in the cathedrals and churches, but they could get more from the academy so they would prefer at least a year or two spent there for all of their apprentices.
What's more, he was focused on the flow of water mana he felt while he sped through the bridge to the elemental aliens that was currently connected to the water elemental plane. A coincidence he felt added up a little too perfectly. Yet, he also grasped that the elemental planes were always connected to the world now and odds were he would be able to figure out a way to teleport there one day.
His senses caught the fact that there was a subtle turmoil in the water mana. He also noticed that a few similar shapes were around. Golems made by the true water sage. They seemed to be balancing the currents moving around. He didn't even draw their attention proving that the recent addition of this elemental plane to grow the water elemental plane might have been a bit too much for what could be handled easily.
This was happening constantly to the true ages and the elemental planes. They were expanding and the origin race members working to do so were being more and more pushy with how they did this.
Something that made Walker wonder if there was something even greater going on or if they had fully begun to incorporate the potentially hundreds of thousands of elemental alpines they had been nurturing all this time.
Whatever the reason, Walker knew that searching for this bubble race might be simple or chaotic. For this moment, he was in the chaotic currents using his skills to resist them and track down the feeling of moving monsters or intelligent races nearby. The forms of golems that were controlled by the true water sage only made the more difficult along with the appearance of a few creatures he could call giants by comparison to the dragons he knew.
