Master Of None
Chapter 2886. An Interesting New Class
"You're saying that you have someone who can use space magic?" Alma was looking at Gil like she had just been told something that just wasn't happening.
"Stop looking at me like I am making things up. I said it so it's true." Gil was trying to act cool, but the slightly serious undertone made it all too clear that the person he had found was pretty strong, or could become strong at least.
"They aren't a combatant of any kind and that's why I haven't brought them to meet you. I haven't told anyone else yet and Walker will jump on the chance to meet her." he sighted a bit before he looked at Alma with a bit more focus.
"I was talking to the elves who have awakened the high elf bloodline about how they should be able to channel more manas and awaken more aspects of what it means to be a high elf. Especially storing manas, resisting manas, and generally understanding aspects of the world better. You saw my arrows that I have started to test and you saw the broken daggers as I started to experiment with the dagger technique again."
This wasn't something he hid from Alma. The changes in channeling manas and sensing them were enough for the elves to discover new aspects of what they had lost as a race after splitting up. It would lead to another race to learn and grow again, something that the elves needed as a long lived species.
However, Gil had already shown that if they were not careful using such skills and experimental abilities without training that whatever they channel manas in to were not ready to accept the stress. Basic weapons and tools were being broken easily by those trying to copy what Gil had begun to work on and prove to be possible.
Gil himself had broken several training bows and caused more than thirty training daggers to crumble despite their strong durability and rune carvings. It just went further to prove that there needed to be even more care in the current training of the high elves.
"Then what do you want to do?" Alma saw that Gil was not necessarily letting this pass on to her alone. It seemed that he was telling her things so that she would not be surprised when she found out something amazing later. Or he was just trying to keep her involved so that she could handle anything that might come of what he would be working on.
"I want to make sure she isn't dragged in to anything just yet. She was an apprentice caretaker for a warehouse. She was tasked with managing it all after the one in charge decided to follow a merchant caravan to the demi-human lands. Apparently the smaller merchant group got absorbed by another so she is left behind."
This was not unusual. The merchant guild was full of smaller groups trying to make a name for themselves. They would butt heads with other groups and then eventually join larger ones or even dissolve entirely.
Genesis had made the guild step in and deal with multiple warehouses purchased and then suddenly been abandoned or were failing to be transferred properly. There was no room to have entire warehouses sit idly in today's world. They needed to continue to do what they were made to be used for. Or else they would be left alone to gather dust where they could be changed in to homes for the growing population.
Regardless, it was important to make sure everything was done the right way so that nothing was wasted. That was a huge focus for many of the leaders since resources were always in need with every single project going on within the scope of Genesis.
"The shipments still arrived but the warehouse was full and she tried her best to manage it. Apparently she was pushed a little too far and tried to make ways for everything to work her own way. That caused her to awaken a class called the spatial warehouse manager. She can use space mana and the entire warehouse she now keeps within an expandable storage place. It's like Walker's but different in many ways. Less versatile and more isolated."
"She can open access to it and travel as she wishes. She can bring massive amounts of goods to be unloaded wherever she goes. But she also holds the weight of all that on her mind and body, so she is weakened until she can grow and understand her class and affinity with space mana."
And this was why Gil was keeping things secret.
Someone that could move huge amounts of goods like this would be targeted for sure. Let alone people who would benefit monetarily from this would want to get their hands on her. Just because Genesis was keeping a close eye on those who might break rules and laws did not mean that the people who followed unsavory practices didn't exist.
There were a few groups already on a long list to be watched for their negative actions and beliefs.
"We can register her as a merchant specialist working directly under myself. From there we can keep guards with her while you find ways to get her to grow faster enough to take care of herself. I assume Walker will have something to say to help her along?" Alma understood where Gil was on this and knew that having a high elf with such a unique class was already enough to cause a buzz.
"Good. Then I will head out to meet her again. Apparently, she hasn't done much to explain the missing warehouse just yet so that should be a fun conversation to have." Gil knew that he had only spoken with the girls a little and gotten the basics, but he figured he would have some entertainment too. "Oh, and Su should be coming to meet me too, she has been resting lately after she had a growth spurt and finished some sort of ritual with Midnight, she might want to stretch her legs a bit."
The exasperated sigh that came from Alma was because she knew full well that Gil was saying that he would spar with Su and that they might cause some commotion. It was always frustrating when he did this, but she also knew that Su was the best person for him to test out the mixed mana arrows he had created.
The infusion process that Gil used as an arcane marksman was amazing, but he has radically changed it to a different skill called arcane imbuement. Something that allowed him to keep different manas in harmony while also not destroying the arrow until it was used.
So far he damaged and broke so much but he had proven that all of his training with Walker had been worth it. He just needed to understand how to better manage the skills he had now.
As he left, he was glad to see a few familiar faces. Some being the high elven mages who were finding out that they had not known of their own potential after they had spoken with Gil. Learning more about what they might be capable of by resonating with manas outside of their bodies was a huge advantage for them. Especially since they had understood that their affinities might not be purely one form of the mana they thought they could use.
One had already learned to make a form of dirty ice. Brown ice infused with stone dust to cause it to be much tougher and also a little slower. They called it glacial ice but realistically it was water mana affinity with only a ten percent earth affinity mixed in. That balance was delicate, but it brought out an interesting train of thought.
Once Gil made a round of hellos and goodbyes, he stepped through the wind and off of branches toward where he knew this young new class holder was. It was easy to spot her since she was sitting over a stack of documents trying to identify what she had stored and how she could better track it. π§ππππΈπ¦π£πππ·ππ.π€π°π
While Gil expected her to gain some more skills related to such things, he was a little annoyed.
Unlike others who could gain experience from doing a wider variety of tasks, this young elf was only able to gain experience through storing more varieties of goods. More experience for rarer items. Meaning, that she was like some of the others lately.
It would present a challenge for growth and once he brought her to Walker they might be able to expand her strength quickly. That was still an if since this was a new class with unknown skills to be discovered.
Time would only tell.
