Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme
Chapter 230 - Lying
Seeing them still charging fearlessly, his eyes narrowed. "Then die!" He charged straight at them, lowering his shoulder like a battering ram.
Boom! The collision was tremendous.
Currway’s bulk, nine feet of muscle, slammed into the shield wall. The front line buckled as shields cracked under the impact, and yet, they held.
But they held.
Currway’s eyes went wide. There was no way! THIS bunch of weaklings?! He swung his other arm one of them, immediately disbalancing his victim as he crushed him under meat paste under the weight of his own shield.
Yet killing one meant nothing when there were thirty holding on against them.
Ryan was in the center of the formation, his own shield braced against Currway. He ordered those around him. "Hold! Don’t any of you dare give a single inch! Lean into your shields!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Kill!" The warriors behind the front line jabbed with spears and swords through gaps in the shields, striking at Currway’s legs and lower body.
Most attacks slid across his scales harmlessly, mere leaving light, leaningless scratches. others managed to dig under a scale, and then become stuck, unable to do nothing but slightly destabilize a single scale.
Yet, this was exactly where the scales previously broken or shattered came into play. Some of the attacks manage to strike at those softer spots. A spear tip stabbed a broken scale, fully parting the bits and stabbing an inch into the flesh underneath. At the same time, a sword point jabbed into his thigh, yet another scaleless part, drawing the slightest bit of blood.
"ROAR!" In anger, Currway brought his fist down on the shield wall. The impact shattered three shields outright, the metal breaking apart. The warriors behind them died instantly, crushed by the overwhelming force.
[Sai L Men has died]
[Idot has died]
[Sten Ed has died]
Despite that, the formation still held. More warriors came from the back, stepping over the bodies of their fallen comrades, closing the gaps as new shields locked into place.
"Look at me, beast!" Ryan called out to Currway as his sword lashed out between the shields, catching Currway across the forearm while the demon was recovering from his strike. The blade fell heavy, crushing four scales under the impact.
Currway’s hand shot out like a blur, grabbing Ryan by the chest plate. His claws dug into the metal, denting it.
"YOU’RE DEAD, INSECT!" He lifted Ryan into the air, squeezing his hands. Metal deformed and Ryan’s ribs began to shatter.
"HEY!" Lena called out with a smirk, teleporting directly in front of Currway. His eyes went wide. This bitch again! Didn’t sh-
Lena gave him the brightest smile. "Guess what I just put in your mouth again~"
"AH!" Currway immediately opened his maw. If there was another bomb, he couldn’t afford another explosion in his mouth! He dropped Ryan, and then froze-
Wait, did he just...
"Got you!" Lena threw something directly at his maw.
"No!" Currway instantly snapped at it, crushing the bomb under his jaw before it exploded.
A crystal jar broke, seeping purple poison into his mouth...
"Heal!" Lena cast her spell on Ryan as golden light enveloped him. His HP bar, which had dropped to 40% from the pressure on his ribs, shot back up to 75%.
Ryan activated a skill, red energy flowing along his blade. "Power Strike!"
His sword blazed with crimson light, striking the same spot once more. This time it cut into flesh, sending blood leaking out.
"Die!" Currway howled in pain slashed at him, but this time, the wall of shields blocked him once more.
"Ehe~" Lena lightly giggled at what she had done, already dozens of feet away. This was her favorite thing. Lying.
And she dared, for why wouldn’t she dare? Currway, as powerful as he was, was a beast whose mind has been rotting for over a century, having engaged in no fights nor conversation in ages. That, coupled with her Ring of Fraud, made it so that if she didn’t try to deceive him, she’d never forgive herself.
At every turn, Currway was blocked by something. On one side, a row of shields blocked his path. If he turned to Lumi, the masses of insects would go and die just to protect him.
Why!?
He had slaughtered tons of humans before. He had been surrounded before. Yet never before had it felt so stifling!
Slash~
Yet another sword struck at him as he instantly retaliated, killing the warrior in a single blow. it had felt behind a small cut in his arm. The accumulated damage was still minimal, but time, with accumulation, progress was being made against him.
Currway was becoming frustrated. These humans were weak individually. So damn pathetically weak. He could kill them with casual strikes. And yet...
He’d killed what, thirty of them now? Thirty-five?
Were they blind or something?! Did they not see the way their teammates’ lives were taken in an instant!? So then why, why did they just keep coming!?
Did Lumi fund a death cult? It had to be, right? For they rushed at him with a smile upon their faces!
Swish~
An archer let loose an arrow that embedded itself in Currway’s right knee, right where the scales were thinnest from previous damage. The impact caused the demon to stumble the slightest bit, causing him to be unable to dodge a mage’s fireball that exploded against his back while he was off-balance.
A thief materialized from the shadows with his dagger seeking the demon’s eye. Currway didn’t even bother to speak this time. What if that blonde one threw something in his mouth again!? So instead, he simply grabbed out. He caught the thief by the throat mid-strike and crushed her windpipe.
[June Star has died]
But the momentary distraction allowed two warriors to close in from opposite sides. These held maces, which slammed against both sides of his ribs. They shattered a few more scales, leaving him more vulnerable for follow up strikes.
