Chapter 25: The Hero and the God of Thunder

Hero, aka ‘yuusha.’

These existences that are said to save the world actually come in various types, amongst which there are those who would say “Demon lord? What’s that, is it delicious?”

The hero summoned by Fitzgald Empire is indeed one such hero. He was summoned to aid in the war against the empire’s longtime enemy, the Kingdom of Ashilia. In other words, he is a pitiful hero simply thrown about by human fancies.

Or at least, he was supposed to be pitiful.

The main catalyst that changed the situation of this hero, Masato-kun, is the ossan who tagged along with him as guardian.

The God of Thunder and Lightning, Thor. Famous from the Nordic pantheon, he is so powerful that at times he is compared to Zeus himself.

The priests who originally plotted to use the hero could do nothing but apologize.

The emperor (former Imperial Prince) who didn’t have any intentions of using the hero in the first place could do nothing but laugh.

The silver lining in the situation, if it can be called as such, is that the Kingdom of Asilia immediately went “Wait, what, a god?! Seriously?! The fuck can we do against a god?!” upon learning of this and immediately declared surrender under the name of ‘reconciliation.’

Thus the hero and Thor-sama brought about an end to the war without even doing anything.

“Shishou, Shishou! The other side of this wall feels strange!”

“Is that so! It is indeed a location that seems just right for a hidden room!”

Upon being fully relieved of their post, Masato-kun went “Since I’ve come to another world and all, I want to go on adventures!” and then Thor-sama went “Umu! The dream of all men!” in agreement.

And this is how this world’s strongest adventurer partnership was born.

“Wait a… Masato and Tooru, how many times have I said to NOT go ahead before me?!”

“Oh don’t worry about it. You know those two would be completely fine even if they do trigger every single trap there is.”

“…… I don’t think that’s the problem here.”

As the carefree human and god continued their adventures, eventually they gathered more nakama.

A teenage girl with a small build yet an unyielding spirit who is a thief, and a gentle, womanly female magician. And also a worldly-wise paladin young man.

At first glance they are all normal people, but the fact that they can keep up with the hero and god’s pace is already testament to their abnormality.

Incidentally, ‘Tooru’ is Thor-sama’s fake name. He is going around as Masato-kun’s uncle.

There’s a limit to how sloppy one can get at hiding one’s identity, but he’s not yet exposed so everything’s fine.

Umu. If we are to get through this wall, then that’d be my job. Come to me, Mjölnir!”

So saying, Thor-sama summons a hammer with a short handle.

With a name that translates to ‘the crusher,’ it is the weapon that pretty much symbolizes the god Thor.

Incidentally, Loki-sama once deceived Thor-sama to go into giant territory alone without bringing along Mjölnir, but a passing grandma lent Thor-sama a staff with the same amount of strength as Mjölnir so all ended well.

Passing grandma so amazing.

“Mjölnir…… Ahh, I get it. Tooru-san’s name is a tribute to the god Thor’s name!”

(How does he look anything other than the real one?! More like, he’s clearly the full god!!)

In contrast to the female magician who’s honestly impressed, the paladin tsukkomis inside his heart.

Actually, this paladin’s real identity is the Dullahan under Maou-sama.

As the hero from the country next to Maou-sama’s has already been subjugated (amusedly exasperated), other subordinates have been sent to join other heroes’ parties to keep tabs on them. Dullahan is suffering from stomach pains everyday from the hero (more Thor-sama)’s antics.

Though some might question how Dullahan can pretend to be a paladin, he is technically not an undead, but a fairy.

He is said to be headless, rides on a carriage drawn by a horse to visit houses where people are going to die soon, lashes out at the eyes of any eyewitnesses with a whip, and can’t cross running rivers.

…… Dude you sure you aren’t an undead?

“Watch me pulverize this wall! THOR HAMMER!”

(YOU SAID IT OUT LOUD?!)

Thor-sama brandishes Mjölnir while shouting something that sounds like a skill name.

As always, he seems to have absolutely zero intention of hiding his identity, but for some reason everyone aside from Dullahan-san is still oblivious.

Today, too, this otherworld is at peace.

“Amaterasu-sama is cute, but doesn’t seem very reliable.”

“She’s not the kind of god who’d fight at the front lines. Though she would be invincible against vampires.”

“That sort of role is for Susanoo-sama and Takemikazuchi-sama.”

“…… Muu.”

At the same time, in Takamagahara.

With her laptop on her lap, Amaterasu-sama is currently searching up what the human think of her. Apparently she has taken a bit of offense at the comment about her not being very reliable.

For some reason, Tsukuyomi-sama is looking at such an Amaterasu-sama with dubious eyes.

“…… What are you doing, Ane-ue. And Tajikarao.”

Fu…… push-…… ups…… can’t you…… see?”

The one who’s answered Tsukuyomi-sama’s question is a male god with muscles that are almost on par with Susanoo-sama’s.

He is Tajikarao.

During the Ama-no-Iwato incident, after Ame-no-Uzume-sama tricked Amaterasu-sama into poking her head out, it was Tajikarao who then pulled her out (or wrenched the stone at the mouth of the cave away, depending on the telling). He is the god that symbolizes strength.

Then that brings into question the strength of Amaterasu-sama, who easily opened and closed the stone at the mouth of the cave that even this God of Strength could not open easily, but let’s not think into it too deeply.

Surely it was due to the Sun Goddess’ some mysterious power or other.

“The push-ups, I understand. What I was referring to is why Ane-ue is sitting on top of you.”

Exactly as Tsukuyomi-sama has said, Amaterasu-sama is currently fiddling with her laptop while sitting smack dab in the middle of Tajikarao’s back as he is doing his push-ups.

It’s a secret that Tsukuyomi-sama is slightly jealous from seeing this.

“To add…… more weight……”

“What made you think to use Ane-ue for that…… and what are you frowning about anyways, Ane-ue?”

Un? I kind of get the feeling that people are looking down on me a bit lately. Just trying to think of a way to remedy that.”

“……”

Tsukuyomi-sama almost blurted out ‘but that’s the way it’s always been’ but barely manages to swallow the words back.

Amaterasu-sama feels lonely easily, to the point where she hated being enshrined alone at the Grand Shrines of Ise and thus called Toyoukehime to join her.

“To gain respect…… you should…… build muscles!”

“You just stay quiet and continue doing your push-ups.”

The suggestion of the musclebrain Tajikarao-sama is immediately shot down by Tsukuyomi-sama.

If Amaterasu-sama becomes macho, then perhaps people might indeed stop looking down at her but at the same time complaints would flood in like a river.

“…… That’s it!”

“Don’t ‘that’s it!’ to that stupid idea!!”

“Then I have…… a certain…… effective training menu.”

“You’re seriously going to do it?!”

But Amaterasu-sama is surprisingly onboard with the idea, and Tajikarao-sama has already begun thinking of a suitable menu.

This causes even the usually calm and yuri-loving Tsukuyomi-sama to become flustered while tsukkomi-ing.

Today, too, Takamagahara is at peace.
