____________

There was a palpable excitement around her little sister, she was practically bouncing in her seat as she toyed with the kunai in her hand.

Gifted to her by Daiki-kun.

Hinata smothered the thrum of jealous as she looked at the kunai. The very, very special kunai as it turned out from her fathers explanation.

It was beacon containing a jutsu shiki. And when thrown, or chakra run through the jutsu shiki in a specific pattern, would alert the one whom placed the shiki and they would then be able to teleport straight to the beacon upon the kunai.

The Flying Thunder God jutsu. The legendary jutsu of the Yondaime Hokage that allowed him to slaughter over a thousand Stone ninja in less than a minute and what helped him attain his moniker as the Yellow Flash, with an SS-rank flee on sight ranking in the Bingo Book.

And the fear it brought upon their enemies of him unleashing that jutsu upon them, was enough to bring the Third Great Shinobi war to an end.

And now it seemed Daiki-kun had learned that jutsu himself somehow.

’Still, it’s not just Hanabi-chan that’s in a good mood.’ she thought, looking between Neji and her father.

The beaming pride he had in his eyes for Hanabi was plain to see. And Neji, he had been smiling ever since her father revealed that Daiki-kun wanted to exact revenge upon the Cloud Village and crush them in war.

"So I just throw this, and it’ll alert Aniki?" Hanabi asked, balancing the kunai’s tip upon one finger.

Almost arrogantly so.

Daiki-kun had rubbed off on her younger sister quite plainly to the eye, even her mannerisms had become quite different as of late.

"Or run your chakra through it in the specific pattern, though you will have to learn that from the Hokage, he did not show me the method," her father nodded, "Still, I must remind you not to abuse such a gift Hanabi. The Hokage is a busy person and-"

"Aniki won’t care as long as its me." Hanabi cut their father off, grinning wide. Before catching the kunai by the handle and tossing it towards the wall

She had even picked up Daiki-kun’s impertinence!

Before her father could even begin to scold her, there was a flash of black suddenly and Daiki appeared, catching the kunai by the ring, slipping his pinkie through it mid-flight.

"As expected, you tossed it right away huh Firecracker?" Daiki laughed, all grins as he looked at her younger sister, twirling the kunai around his pinky finger.

"Did you think I wouldn’t?" Hanabi grinned back at him cheekily.

’Oh my...he really did appear just like that.’ Hinata blinked.

Before her eyes narrowed as she caught sight of something. A pale light pink kiss mark upon his neck.

Her finger twitched.

Her father cleared his throat, drawing himself up, "Hokage-sama, I apologise for my daughter’s impudence in using such a gracious gift so carelessly, it was entirely improper and-"

"Don’t worry about it," Daiki waved him off, still grinning, "I wouldn’t have given it to her if I didn’t want her using it whenever she felt like it." He wandered around the table as he said it, unhurried, before coming to a stop behind Hanabi’s chair. He dropped his elbow onto the top of her head and leaned his weight into it comfortably, using her as an armrest.

Hanabi’s eye twitched, "Get off!" she said flatly, reaching up to shove at his arm. It didn’t move a single inch.

"No offense to the Hyuuga clan," Daiki continued pleasantly, completely ignoring her, "I know the Hyuga have a whole stoic thing going on. But that’s not really me. And a student’s a reflection of their teacher, so," he shrugged the shoulder that wasn’t pinning Hanabi’s head, "My apprentice needs to be bold." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"I said get off!" Hanabi grabbed his arm with both hands this time, pulling. Still nothing. For all her younger sisters prodigious ability, it was nothing in the face of Daiki-kun’s raw strength. She may as well have attempted to push a mountain off of her for all the good her efforts did.

In fact, she may have had better luck with a mountain considering what they had all seen of Daiki-kun’s true strength during his battle with Orochimaru and his allies.

Hinata watched her sister’s increasingly undignified attempts to dislodge him and felt the corner of her mouth twitch despite herself.

The pink mark on his neck however, remained very much in her peripheral vision.

"You’re the worst Aniki." Hanabi pouted.

"Don’t pretend you don’t like it, Firecracker." Daiki laughed, dropping his arm from the top of her head. Before she could look too pleased about it, he curled it around her throat and shoulders from the front instead, pulling her back against him.

Hanabi’s lips twitched up despite herself. And Hinata noticed, with some interest, the faint pink that crept into her little sister’s cheeks.

He was so free with it. The casual physical affection he’d shown Hanabi in the few minutes since appearing, was more than either of them had experienced in the past five years combined before he came along.

Her father sighed, "Hokage-sama. The Flying Thunder God is not a jutsu to be shown off without thought or care," he said, "It is a great honour to even hold one of those beacons. Before yourself, the only two shinobi to ever wield that jutsu were the Nidaime and the Yondaime Hokage."

"Hiashi-sama is not wrong." Neji said.

Daiki glanced at him.

Neji held his gaze, "I mean no disrespect Hokage-sama, and I know little of the jutsu beyond what Hiashi-sama has told us. But a jutsu capable of turning the tide of an entire war on its own..." he paused, "Allowing a young girl to rely on summoning you freely at any moment seems unwise."

Daiki looked at him for a moment. Then her father. Then back to Neji.

"Fair enough," he said, "And you’re fine, I’m not going to bite your head off for a decent point. Last thing I want is Hanabi turning into some loser who needs her teacher bailing her out every five minutes." Hanabi made an indignant noise at that. He ignored it entirely, grinning, "So once she’s far enough along, skilled enough to actually be able to do it. I’ll just teach her the jutsu itself."
