Chapter 557: Ghost Basin- Enter Now Or Forever Remain Ignorant!

[Special System Clue: The Temple of Enlightenment.]

[Details: The Temple of Enlightenment is the peak of enlightenment into the Great origin Dao. Basking in its aura after it opens is a once-in-lifetime opportunity.]

[Further Details: The Temple of Enlightenment resolves around a cycle of opening every millennium. A thousand years already passed; the Temple of Enlightenment will open 4 months from now.]

Sebastian felt like it was just yesterday when he first received this system notification clue but 4 months already passed, he felt like he was dreaming.

After he first received the clue about the temple of enlightenment from his system, he embarked on a quest to know more about this mysterious temple, and in the end, Eliana was the one who updated his knowledge on it.

According to Eliana, the temple of enlightenment was the inheritance ground that was left by a pinnacle Black tier predator of the Dungeon of Souls that once rivaled the great Necromancy King.

According to her contacts, the temple opened every hundred years which conflicted with the system clue which claimed it opened every millennium.

When simply looked at, the system clue’s claim of it opening a millennium was the more sus one but with experience, Sebastian learned to trust his system.

Eliana’s contacts could be wrong, but his system was never wrong.

Also, Eliana claimed that the temple would open in approximately 6 months while the system claimed that it would open in 4 months. None of both predictions were exactly accurate as the opening of the temple varied every time.

A lot of factors could affect the opening of the temple like the outbreak of the world war, so Sebastian blamed none of them for the slight inaccuracy.

All those didn’t matter though, what mattered was that he got all the information that he needed and used his time efficiently. Now, just right before the temple would open, he was ready to enter.

After delegating duties to his subordinates and driving his plan into their heads, Sebastian embarked on his journey to the location of this temple.

The temple of enlightenment was located in a peculiar location in the Dungeon of Souls hidden far away from the common beast.

The location where this special inheritance was hidden was called the Ghost Basin. It was the former territory of the great pinnacle Black tier predator, the Soul Sage before his death but even after his death, this remained his territory.

The Soul Sage planted his inheritance in his territory which was a brave act, but he set more than enough countermeasures to deter unwanted entries.

The territory was previously referred to as the Soul Sage Basin, but after the death of this pinnacle Black tier predator, it became known as the Ghost Basin.

Legends say that the Soul Sage before his death placed a soul curse on his territory. This curse manifested in a form where the souls of all that he had killed during his long lifetime came back to the living world as ghosts and roamed here.

During his long life, the Soul Sage killed a lot of beasts and variant humans, not just any beast either, he killed Black tier predators in his prime.

Now, after his death, all these manifested as ghosts in his territory to protect his inheritance, forming an unstoppable great ghost army.

Of course, his army was not really indomitable, powerhouses like the Necromancy King could invade and destroy all the ghosts anytime but the question was it worth the effort?

The Ghost Basin was set to accommodate only Red tier and purple tier predators. If a Black tier predator entered and overpowered the ghosts, the territory was rigged to blow up like a nuclear bomb, destroying everything.

Well, over the years, the fact that Black tier predators who could make this territory blow up existed but the territory remained intact spoke volumes.

Unlike most Black tier predators who received Overlord titles and other tyrannical titles in their names, the Soul Sage was called a Sage for a reason.

Legends say that he had the greatest origin law comprehension that was recorded of any Black tier predator, even more than the 7 Sea Kings.

This was why his only inheritance was related to improving origin law comprehension. This fact alone made it invaluable.

Black tier predators could not benefit from it but their juniors could, so why shoot themselves in the foot and let it destroy itself? They would rather milk it appropriately by using it to train their new generations.

This was how Sebastian got to see an intact Ghost Basin and got the opportunity of the temple of inheritance.

Sebastian could have asked his subordinates to teleport him directly to his destination but he did not, he wanted a new experience this time.

Sebastian decided to travel the normal way by swimming and it was a memorable experience that he would probably never forget all his life.

All his life in Oceania, he never got to see real peace as everywhere he went, he always met one predator who was after his life and if he didn’t, he was always after one predator’s life to claim his life to supplement his own life.

For the first time in a long time, Sebastian was truly free from this chaotic cannibalistic lifestyle. As a Red tier predator now, no stray beast dared to attack him anymore, they rather scurried for safety once they felt his aura.

He also didn’t need to supplement his belly with food all the time anymore since as a Red tier predator, he could survive a long time without food.

As a beast increased through the ranks and got closer to the primordial origin magic, mana became a better supplement than actual food itself.

Free of all his worries, Sebastian amid the world war enjoyed his smoothest swim ever as he took his time before he finally arrived in the Ghost Basin.

On arriving here, Sebastian confirmed that all the rumors were true. This was a real Ghost Basin, everywhere was filled with gloom and horror as he saw ethereal ghosts moving back and forth through this territory.

Life could not be detected inside, only the foul power of death and undead.

Sebastian braced himself before entering inside. As he expected, the ghosts only turned to look at him once but once they discovered his tier, they ignored him.

This way, Sebastian got to navigate safely to the deepest parts of the Ghost Basin where the temple of enlightenment was rumored to have been constructed.

Once Sebastian went deep inside this spooky Basin enough, he quickly discovered that he was not the only one here.

Others already came before him; beasts and variant humans alike were already gathered but none of them dared to stir trouble with the ghosts watching like hawks behind their backs.

At this moment, Sebastian felt like he had seen it all. From different Space Beast races to normal beasts, to exotic variant human races like the Elves, the Snowmen, and less exotic variant human races, Sebastian saw them all gathered.

With just one glance at them, he confirmed that they all already had an admirable origin law comprehension in normal standards for their tiers.

Only those with connections knew of the legendary temple of enlightenment, so this was not abnormal. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Sebastian joined them calmly as he waited for the official opening. No one recognized him, he dared not come with his already well-known Leviathon body.

This time, he came with his main Megalodon body. While they waited, some other Megalodons nearby joined Sebastian to while their time away.

In this silent atmosphere, time moved fast and in the blink of an eye, 2 days already passed. This was when a tremor was felt like an earthquake was imminent.

All the beasts and variant humans present rose once they felt the tremor. Their eyes shone like lanterns in a dark night as they finally found what they came for, the temple of enlightenment was finally about to open.

The earthquake continued for like 5 minutes during which time the Ghost Basin seemed to be restructuring itself, then it finally emerged.

The long-pointed tip was what first emerged out of the Basin as it pierced into the boundless waters. After the tip followed the body as what felt like a behemoth finally uprooted itself from its millennium slumber.

The Temple of Enlightenment was built like a tower.

Once the tower emerged, a loud robotic voice addressed the whole Basin.

"Welcome prospective Sages..."

"Congratulations for coming, the Temple of Enlightenment is open again..."

"Come bask in the light of enlightenment..."

"Come be a part of the wisdom of the Soul Sage..."

"Entry Time Limit is 10 minutes..."

"Enter now or forever remain ignorant!"
