Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Imperial Kingdom’s Traitors, Alphox Attacks!

It wasn’t surprising to see servants of the gods roam around several [Higher Domains] to do their bidding, spreading their influence and weakening any opposition that might stand against them.

In fact, Leon himself had assumed that Iris, the imperial queen, was already under the influence of a god given her immense power and position within the kingdom.

It seemed he had been wrong though, because instead of being a servant, the [God of War] wanted to destroy her kingdom entirely, and once all of it was gone and she had nothing left to protect, he planned to recruit her, as she would have no other choice but to accept.

Due to Iris’ immense strength and potential, she would become a true terror in the [Eternal Domain] once granted divine powers, a force that could shift the balance of power.

’In my past life, the plan probably worked without any interference,’ Leon thought grimly.

Leon had never met the [God of War] or Iris in his previous life, but the gods weren’t dumb, and without outside interference, most of what they did worked out perfectly for them.

But now that Leon knew about what was happening, it wouldn’t happen, he simply wouldn’t let it come to pass.

He was about to unleash the strength of his spells and skills onto the many guards surrounding him, ready to cut them down where they stood.

But at that moment, something unexpected happened that surprised everyone in the room.

"KKKKKRAAAAAAAAA~"

Alphox used [Draconic Fear] without any warning, the sound instantly shaking all of the guards to their core, including Alvec who stumbled back from the sheer pressure.

They all looked down while shaking, gazing at the small baby dragon before them with a mixture of confusion and unease.

"H-Haha, that’s all?" Alvec laughed nervously, trying to regain his composure, "A level 1 pet? That’s what you think will defeat us?!"

Leon himself seemed quite surprised to see Alphox react so aggressively, and even take a step forward, as if ready to attack the much larger opponents.

Alvec and these guards, unlike Iris and Zarek, didn’t seem to know anything about Alphox though, completely unaware of what kind of creature they were dealing with.

They simply saw him as a small and weak pet that couldn’t possibly pose any threat to seasoned warriors like themselves.

But to be honest, even Leon himself didn’t believe that the level 1 baby dragon would be able to do anything significant against such powerful opponents.

And so, one can imagine his surprise when he saw Alphox unleash his small wings, and with a small flap of them, he arrived before Alvec in an instant.

"What?" the man said, his eyes widening in shock.

The man immediately lifted his sword, eager to swing at the baby dragon, but Alphox was simply... different from any pet he had ever encountered.

The [Primordial Dragon of Chaos], in the weakest state it would ever be in, swung its tiny claws with surprising ferocity.

And in an instant, a massive after image of three claws appeared and hit Alvec, slashing him deeply across his chest and armor.

Just like that, the man spat blood as he stumbled backward, fatally injured from a single attack from a level 1 creature.

"What the...?" Leon’s eyes widened as he saw Alphox swing again, this time hitting one of the other guards with the same massive claw after-image.

The guard simply died instantly in comparison to Alvec who had managed to survive, his body collapsing to the ground lifeless.

Just like that, Alphox continued to attack over and over, his ferocity belying his tiny size, and Leon decided to aim for those outside, killing them with his spells before they could do anything to harm Emilia and Celeste.

In a matter of minutes, Leon and Alphox managed to defeat every traitorous guard that had come to ambush them.

Only Alvec remained alive, and the three gashes in his armor from Alphox’s attack made it obvious he didn’t have long to live, his breathing labored and shallow.

"Kaaaaa!" Alphox moved around the room, happy of what he did, his tail wagging with excitement.

Meanwhile, Leon approached Alvec, whose eyes were hollow, as if not understanding how that was possible or what had just happened to him.

They had been doing this for several months, slowly weakening the kingdom’s defenses and eliminating those who opposed them.

And in a matter of minutes, they were all defeated by a single human and his baby dragon?

Of course, even with many guards and Alvec gone, there were still numerous traitors within the army, but without him as their leader... their strength and coordination would greatly decrease.

"Tell me how you spoke to the [God of War]," Leon ordered, placing his sword against the guard’s neck, his voice cold and demanding.

He needed to know how these natives and the gods interacted, as it could help him understand more about their methods and plans.

But Alvec simply looked up at Leon’s eyes, a wide smile appearing on his face even as blood dripped from his mouth.

"W-Whether it is the [God of War]... or any of the others... eventually... the gods will reign over all... and there is nothing you can do to stop it..."

SLASH!

Alvec picked up his own sword and stabbed himself in the neck with his remaining strength, dying just like that, his body slumping to the ground.

"...Idiotic fanatics like you disgust me," Leon said, shaking his head.

Ding!

[You have killed x48 "Imperial Army Guard" and "Alvec, Imperial Army General" and gained 6,850,000 experience points.]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered...]

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 91 + Level 92.]

[All your attributes have increased by 2,000 and you have gained 2,000 free attribute points.]

"Phew," Leon grinned, "Only eight more levels until I hit the cap."

[Level: 92 (1,150,000/3,600,000)]

His experience points needed increased by 200,000 for level 91, and 400,000 for level 92, the requirements growing exponentially.

And of course, the number would only keep getting higher and higher with each level, making progress increasingly difficult.

That is one of the main reasons why Emilia, Celeste and even Violet were stuck for so long at their current levels despite constant fighting.

Violet likely had killed thousands if not tens of thousands of monsters, yet she was still level 98 after all that effort.

And level 99 would take MUCH more experience points than level 98, taking her even longer to reach the cap.

That was why it took even the fastest of players months to get to level 100, and years for those that tried to take less risks and grind safely.

Then another notification appeared.

Ding!

[Alphox has leveled up to Level 2 + Level 3!]

"All of that for two levels," Leon sighed, "Oh well, good enough for now."

He could see Alphox glow faintly after gaining the two levels, and though his appearance didn’t change much, he seemed more powerful and confident.

Well, a level 1 pet able to take down level 100 natives wasn’t something that Leon had ever seen in either of his lives anyway, so Alphox was clearly special.

Leon then turned toward Emilia and Celeste, who had been terrified when the guards entered their room, their faces still pale from the ordeal.

They had calmed down somewhat, the adrenaline still pumping in their veins as they processed what had just happened.

"W-What the hell even was that?" Celeste shouted, her voice trembling, "T-They come here and talk nonsense about a god!"

"...Yeah," Leon nodded faintly, his expression darkening as he thought about the implications.

"Everybody keeps talking about gods this, gods that..." Emilia scratched her chin thoughtfully, "Its so strange, even Leon asked us if we would be ready to fight a god for him later..."

"Well," Leon cut her off, "Let’s just focus on staying safe for now, and we should probably tell Iris what is happening with her kingdom."

"Who is Iris?" Celeste tilted her head in confusion.

"Oh, right, you guys weren’t there," Leon said, realizing they had missed everything.

Leon explained what happened in the [Imperial Arena] to the two girls, their expressions becoming more and more shocked as they listened to the tale.

"Damn, we shouldn’t have fallen asleep," Emilia nervously shook her head, "But still, you’re right, if the queen and her kingdom is being targeted... we need to inform her about what we just learned."

Leon didn’t care much about the [Imperial Kingdom] itself, but simply stopping someone like Iris from becoming a god’s servant was enough motivation for him.

If the [God of War] recruited her, she could possibly become the nail of his coffin later, a powerful enemy he wouldn’t want to face.

He already knew he would have to face hundreds of these powerful servants in the future, so adding one impossibly powerful one to that list was simply too much to ignore.

He sent a message to Violet to set up a meeting.

[Celestial: Something crazy happened, if you meet with the queen, tell her that I want to speak to her.]

It only took around thirty seconds for a response to come back.

[RainbowDragon: Alright, but make sure to tell me what happened later, also Oasis and Godrick said that they would appreciate the items, but they’re in other higher domains.]

’I don’t think Godrick is the kind to say that but...’

[Celestial: Alright.]

And finally, with that done, Leon actually opened his [Storage Space] eager to check what all the lizard guards dropped from their defeat.
