Chapter 201: Charles Reed Wants the Grant Family to Pressure Walker Grant
Sunny Reed’s eyes flickered. Struggling to get up, she said, "I’ll go apologize. This is all my fault. If I hadn’t been so useless, falling and getting hurt, Dad wouldn’t have gotten so angry, and he wouldn’t have hit my sister. Then Walker wouldn’t be taking it out on Dad. I’ll go apologize to my sister. As long as she can forgive me, I’ll do anything."
Autumn Linton hurriedly held her down. "Sunny, this has nothing to do with you! What’s wrong with your father disciplining his own child? Walker Grant is the one overstepping!"
Sunny’s eyes grew red. "But... if I don’t go and apologize, Walker won’t stop."
Autumn Linton looked at Charles Reed. "What else can we do? Are we really going to apologize to Chloe? That’s absurd."
Charles Reed was silent for a long moment before saying, "I’ll make a trip to the Grant residence."
He would get the Grant family to pressure Walker. He refused to believe this matter couldn’t be resolved!
He stood up and left immediately.
However, not long after he left, two more bodyguards arrived and stood posted at the door of the hospital room.
Autumn Linton saw them and asked, "Who are you?"
One of the bodyguards replied, "Mr. Grant sent us to protect the Young Madam."
Autumn Linton’s expression was incredibly complex.
Walker Grant was targeting the Reed Group on one hand, while protecting Sunny on the other.
What exactly was he trying to do?
Sunny was still intent on apologizing to Chloe. When Autumn Linton stepped out, she even staggered out of bed.
But she was stopped by the bodyguards the moment she reached the door.
"What is the meaning of this?" Sunny asked, her face full of confusion.
The bodyguard said, "Mr. Grant has instructed that your injuries are severe. It would be best not to move around until you are healed, as it will affect your recovery."
Sunny’s heart sank.
’Did Walker guess that I would go looking for Chloe?’
’Is he trying to keep me from getting involved?’
Sunny’s fingers clenched into a fist. "I just want to go out for a walk," she said.
The bodyguard’s face was impassive. "Young Madam, please don’t make this difficult for me."
Sunny had no choice but to return to bed and lie down.
...
Charles Reed went to the Grant residence, and Walker Grant received the news soon after.
He emerged from the conference room, his handsome, sharp face calm and detached. His long, narrow phoenix eyes were deep and dark, betraying no hint of emotion.
Dylan Finch, at his side, reported, "Chairman Reed also called you."
Walker Grant said coolly, "You’ll preside over the afternoon meeting. You go to the dinner party tonight."
Dylan Finch froze for a second, then answered with a deadpan expression, "Understood."
Walker Grant signed the last document and left Grant Group immediately.
He first stopped by Hu’s Wontons in South City to get a takeout order, then headed to the hospital.
When he entered the room, he found Chloe Reed sitting on the hospital bed with a grim look on her face. She kept glancing at the door, clearly wanting to get out.
"Does it still hurt today?"
Walker Grant asked as he walked over and set the wontons on the bedside table.
Chloe Reed looked up at him. "How long are you going to keep me locked up? You never showed up. Did you forget what I told you yesterday?"
Walker Grant opened the packaging. "These wontons are from the place you’ve always liked," he said. "Eat something first."
Chloe looked at the wontons, then suddenly stood up and reached for them.
Walker Grant made no move to stop her.
The next second, Chloe threw the wontons into the trash can.
"You can’t keep me locked up. Also, you need to come with me to the courthouse. We’re getting a divorce."
The container of wontons had been opened, its savory aroma spreading faintly through the room, yet it had all been dumped in the trash.
Walker Grant’s sharp brows drew together, his dark phoenix eyes settling on her face.
"You don’t like these wontons? Then tell me what you want to eat. I’ll go get it for you."
