Chapter 444: Chapter 444: Repeated Probing

Miles Hawthorne was surprised. "He agreed to a divorce? Have you finalized it yet?"

Chloe Reed sighed. "He’s on a business trip. We’ll handle it when he gets back."

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds. After a moment, Miles Hawthorne’s voice came through again. "Okay, let’s meet. We can talk more in person."

"Mm."

Chloe Reed hung up.

When she turned her head, she was met with the teasing look in Walker Grant’s eyes.

She said in a level voice, "I’m going to meet him. Do you want to come with me?"

Walker Grant chuckled. "Aren’t I on a business trip?"

Chloe Reed was speechless.

Her brow furrowed. "I’m not joking."

Walker Grant said, "I’m on a business trip, so I can’t go with you. What’s the problem?"

Chloe Reed was at a loss for words.

She left the Grant Family Estate right then and there.

Daniel Hayes brought the car around and drove her straight to a teahouse. She sent the location to Miles Hawthorne, and half an hour later, he pushed open the door to the private room.

Seeing her haggard expression, concern flickered in his eyes. He asked, "How’s your grandmother doing?"

Chloe Reed’s voice was heavy with grief. "She’s still in a coma. The doctors don’t know when she’ll wake up. They won’t give me the antidote until I find Sunny Reed. Where am I supposed to find her?"

Resentment flared in her eyes. "Sunny Reed is their adopted daughter. And even though I’m not their biological child either, they raised me like their own for so many years. How could they do this to me?"

Miles Hawthorne sighed. "They’re... they’re really not thinking straight. They’re getting old. How could they not have considered the consequences?"

Chloe Reed sniffled and looked at him. "What should I do? Do you have any ideas?"

Miles Hawthorne tapped a steady rhythm on the tabletop with his fingers. "Let me think," he said. "Do you know when Sunny Reed went missing?"

Chloe Reed shook her head. "I don’t know the specifics. I only found out she was missing later on."

Miles Hawthorne’s expression grew serious. "That makes things more difficult, but I’ll do my best."

After a pause, he asked, "Did Walker Grant really agree to the divorce?"

"Yeah." Chloe Reed nodded. "After all this time, he finally agreed. Now I just have to wait for him to get back."

Miles Hawthorne smiled. "Well, at least that’s one piece of good news. Congratulations, you’re about to get your freedom back."

"Thanks, but I can’t bring myself to be happy right now." Chloe Reed’s face was etched with sorrow and worry.

Miles Hawthorne nodded. "I understand. Let me make a call and see if I can get any information from the airport."

Chloe Reed looked at him, her eyes pleading. "Miles Hawthorne, I’m really counting on you for this. You have to help me find Sunny Reed. I can’t lose my grandmother..."

Miles Hawthorne nodded seriously. "I’ll do everything I can."

After their meeting, Chloe Reed went straight to the hospital.

When she arrived at the hospital room, she saw Walker Grant was already there. Noah was with him, staring with a confused expression at the unconscious elderly woman in the hospital bed.

"Chloe, you’re back." Seeing her, Iris Yates immediately stood up. "How did it go?"

Chloe Reed said, "All we can do now is wait for news."

Iris Yates hugged her. "Don’t worry. Your grandmother will be fine."

"Mm."

Chloe Reed closed her eyes for a moment, then released her. "It’s getting late," she said. "You should head back."

Iris Yates nodded. "Okay."

She glanced at Walker Grant, hesitated for a moment, then said, "Take good care of her."
