Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 463: She Will Be Called Sunny Reed
Nathaniel Monroe wanted to say more, but when he saw the old madam resting on the hospital bed, his lips moved, and he held his tongue.
Iris Yates shot him a glare, then leaned close to Chloe Reed and whispered, "How did you get the antidote? Did you really find Sunny Reed?"
Chloe Reed nodded. "I found her. And I poisoned her, too."
Hearing this, Iris Yates’s eyes widened slightly. She immediately gave Chloe a thumbs-up. "Brilliant move, my Cherie!"
She suppressed her excitement and said, "You should have dealt with that shameless bitch ages ago. She was constantly testing your limits. Only you could put up with that. If it were me, I would’ve never let her get off so easily."
"The news is already all over our social circles. The Reed family has disowned Sunny Reed. From now on, she’s just Sunny Su," Nathaniel Monroe chimed in coolly from the side.
Iris Yates glanced at him. "Why are you always popping up? I’m talking to my Chloe. Why are you butting in?"
Nathaniel Monroe stared at her, his expression unreadable. "I’m just filling you in. You really don’t know how to appreciate good intentions, do you?"
"I don’t need it!" Iris was completely resistant to him. Just talking to him made her feel irritated, and she couldn’t help but argue every time they met.
People like them just weren’t meant to be in the same room.
He was so infuriating, it felt like a health risk!
Nathaniel Monroe let out a frustrated laugh. "You really don’t know how to appreciate good intentions!"
Furious, he stood up and stormed out of the hospital room.
Iris couldn’t help but remark, "He’s finally gone."
Watching this unfold, Chloe Reed blinked in confusion. "Why does it feel like you have an even bigger problem with him lately? Did something happen that I don’t know about?"
"It’s all because I ran into him at the hospital the other day. He just kept asking why I was there. When I wouldn’t answer, he started ambushing me downstairs from my apartment! He even threatened to tell my parents. Can you believe how annoying he is? What does any of my business have to do with him?"
Iris grumbled under her breath. She found Nathaniel Monroe to be completely baffling!
Chloe, however, sensed there was something more to it. She said hesitantly, "He doesn’t... like you, does he?"
"Like me?!" Iris’s eyes went wide. "My Cherie, can you please stop with the morbid jokes? It’s not funny at all!"
’She’d looked down on Nathaniel Monroe from the first moment she saw him. He was a roguish, sleazy playboy.’
’Back in college, he went through girlfriends one after another, like they were clothes.’
’He was already damaged goods!’
’Later, after Walker Grant did all those despicable things, she looked down on Nathaniel Monroe even more, just by association.’
’After all, birds of a feather flock together.’
’It was better to stay far away from people like that.’
Chloe couldn’t help but smile. "You never know," she said.
Iris leaned on her shoulder. "Stop scaring me. I wouldn’t dare aim for someone like that."
The topic was too unpleasant, so she immediately changed it. She stayed in the hospital room for nearly two more hours before leaving.
By the time she left the hospital, the sky had grown dark. Iris walked toward her little Beetle, but unexpectedly, the car behind it suddenly honked.
She turned to look and saw Nathaniel Monroe in a fiery red Ferrari, a smug, roguish grin on his face as he watched her.
Iris’s face remained blank as she looked away and got into her pink Beetle.
Nathaniel Monroe’s brow furrowed. He had waited a full two hours for her, and she hadn’t even given him the time of day!
So he got out of his car, pulled open the passenger door of her Beetle, and slid inside.
"What are you doing?"
Seeing this, Iris furrowed her brow and glared at him, her eyes filled with undisguised disgust.
