Chapter 445: Confronting An Old Friend

As Sariel looked at Jeremy’s shocked face, she couldn’t wait to get his inquisition over with so he could grant her request.

She couldn’t bring herself to tell him what was going through her mind and why she wanted to fight Abaddon herself.

It all boiled down to what had happened centuries ago before he had ever existed.

She had known him in the days when humans didn’t have abilities and the Administrator presiding Earth was more cheerful.

Abaddon was an angel just like she was before the big revolt in the heavens where more than one third of them were cast out.

It was a general notion that angels weren’t big on feelings but she saw him as more than a colleague then. They had been quite close and very good friends.

She couldn’t believe it when he went over to the dark side and tried to convince her to do the same.

She had tried talking him out of it but he was already far gone as he had been brainwashed by the deceiver.

He and the rest of the defectors had been cast out and she hadn’t met him since then.

She had been itching to find out why he did it and if he had been playing her all along.

You could say that in a way she seeked closure.

He was the only one she had developed something akin to feelings for.

Prior to being allied to Jeremy, she didn’t pinpoint it as that since such things were foreign to her kind.

With everything going on recently, she had long forgotten about him.

The locusts had jogged her memory as she knew it to be his territory.

She had kept tabs on him, actually all the defectors after they left and like the rest of the Angels, she was appalled to see what they turned to and their new abilities.

Looking at him, she hadn’t known it had gotten this bad.

She was repulsed when she saw the grotesque being he had become, gone was the handsome easygoing angel she had known.

"It’s alright, go and fight him," Jeremy said giving her the go ahead.

"Thanks," She said with a nod.

~WHOOOSHHHHHH!!!~

She flew off to meet him as soon before Jeremy could say another word.

She was surprised at how easily he gave in to her although she knew that it wouldn’t be the end of the matter.

He was sure to still question her after they defeated them.

She still didn’t know if she wanted to tell him. She wasn’t sure she would since it didn’t matter anyway.

Abaddon was her enemy.

She suspected that Jeremy was itching to fight Abaddon much more than Lyra as he would be the stronger of the two.

She couldn’t say for sure though as the girl had surprised her by breaking the dome.

She knew how strong her reinforcement was and knew it was no mean feat to break it.

She was a Celestial Archangel and was stronger than the other angels.

It couldn’t be out of a power boost or adrenaline fueled rage. There was definitely a problem.

After calculating the variables, she was left with only one answer that seemed definite but she couldn’t bring herself to imagine that that was the case.

It would spell doom for all of them if it was as she suspected.

>SKIIIIAAAAKKK!!!<

The locusts were upon her in an instant and their noise was ear shattering to say the least.

"Sigh..."

She didn’t want to be bothered by the minions as she only wanted their leader.

She didn’t stress herself trying to fight them. She simply increased her aura and the mana coating her to a frightening degree and they all stopped short as they drew closer.

"Abaddon!"

She yelled as she spotted him in the middle of the swarm.

"Sariel, we meet again. How many years has it been?" He growled as his sharp teeth curled into a menacing grin.

From where he stood, she looked just like he remembered though he could see that she had fused with other angels.

From what he saw, she still retained her distinct personality.

"No one is counting but I’ve been waiting for this," She replied, floating closer to him. "Why did you do it?"

"Do what exactly?"

"Why did you go over to the side of the deceiver? Everything was going on well but you all had to mess it up."

"I can see that you still hold a grudge against me. When you really look at it, how different are we from each other? You’re not still working for them, are you?" He said, pointing a finger to the skies.

"We are not talking about that," she said, getting angry with how he was deflecting the question. "We are talking of how you abandoned your friend to join a stupid cause."

"Do you believe that the Administrators will pardon you if you go back? They are all greedy fools who only care about themselves."

"Take that blasphemy back," she said, not able to take the insult.

She could see that he was evil thoroughly and was now different from the Angel she had known all those years.

"How foolish of you to be loyal to people that have abandoned you. We would make a pretty good team if we linked up."

She ignored his remark as she looked down to see the rest of the people fighting off the locusts.

They appeared to have the upper hand against the demons as they steadily drove them back.

Jeremy’s items were helping them a great deal while he was squaring off against Lyra.

The other angels were positioned at the rear and flank of the formation albeit in the skies and as expected, they easily decimated the demons who only had the numbers to their advantage.

Overall it was a well synced battle that went as smoothly as a hot knife through butter.

Meanwhile, she was the only one still talking with her opponent.

"Stop talking and take your best shot at me," she said, flexing her fist as she got ready to fight.
