Point-of-View: Ciel Campbell

———————————————————————————

"Alright, here goes...[Spirit Fusion, Ghost: Rex]!" I chanted, a burst of energy erupting around me as my power surged, my body glowing as my hair turned white.

"Cool, my turn now...hm, which one to go with? Got it! [Spirit Fusion, Shadow Cat: Onyx]!" Chanted Jaden, jet-black fur sprouting across his arms as he transformed.

Black streaks appeared in his hair as his eyes turned dark blue, the shape of his pupils narrowing, black sideburns appearing on either side of his face as his teeth and nails sharpened and extended into fangs and claws, a dark, shadowy glow shrouding his body.

"Hey, nice, that looks pretty cool," I remarked, cracking my knuckles before manifested my Explosion Blade.

"Heh, I’m not done yet. Now, [Telekinetic Surge]!" He exclaimed, a burst of force erupting around him, the air surrounding him shimmering slightly.

Oh, crap, I completely forgot about his power boost. Stacked onto the boost from his Spirit Fusion, his Aura looks like its in the same league as the Demon Lord’s Sentinels.

Heh, fine by me. While I may still be weaker, I’m far from out of my depth. Actually, him being stronger makes this much more of a challenge, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Now, then, let’s get started...

I took aim as I generated a swirling sphere of explosive energy with my left hand, firing it at him as I simultaneously unleashed a burst of wind from my palm, propelling the explosive projectile towards him with a sharp burst of speed. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

As it began to close in on him, he rapidly dropped down into his own shadow, my attack whizzing over the top of his head as he disappeared.

A deafening blast rang out as my attack collided against the wall on the other side of the room and exploded with immense force, right as I spun around and raised my Explosion Blade as he emerged through my shadow from behind me.

I swung my blade down towards him as Rex turned most of my body intangible, before Jaden snapped his jaws open and unleashed a loud, deafening sonic screech.

I winced slightly and stumbled back, my Explosion Blade hitting the floor and exploding powerfully, blasting Jaden right out of the shadows, but it didn’t do much damage, as he formed a telekinetic force field around himself.

The force field absorbed the impact as he crashed onto the wall, before his feet thudded against the floor as he landed and let out a slow exhale.

"<Be careful. My intangibilty weakens the effect of sound-based attacks, but it doesn’t completely nullify it. I can prevent damage to your eardrums, but since you can still hear while intangible, those attacks will disorient you and throw you off-balance a bit>," Rex warned me.

Yeah, I noticed. Besides Kai’s Drain Skill, sound-based attacks are probably the worst worst match-up for your Magic.

"<Yeah. Don’t forget Magic that can trigger bright, blinding flashes, like Fire and Lightning Magic>."

Mhm, I’ll keep that in mind. But with his abilities, we don’t have to worry about that, we just need to worry about his Sound Magic. His Telekinetic Magic isn’t a threat to us while we’re fused.

Oh, wait...that Sun Lizard Spirit he’s got, based on its name, I think it’s safe to say that its attacks are probably pretty bright and flashy. Gotta watch out for that if he uses Spirit Fusion with it.

Alright, let’s continue!

"Take this!" I exclaimed, unleashing a barrage of explosions at him, the blasts triggering across the space between us as he swiftly intercepted them with telekinetic blasts.

As he dropped down into his shadow again, I swiftly launched myself into the air with a burst of explosive energy, further augmented by some wind.

I swayed through the air as I used my Wind Magic to try and hover, struggling a bit to control it, right as Jaden emerged from my shadow below and chanted...

"Now, [Summon Spirit, Sun Lizard: Star]!"

I quickly closed my eyes as the Spirit appeared and unleashed a bright flash, before I grimaced as a sharp, ringing sonic screech engulfed me, my head throbbing as I gritted my teeth.

S-So loud, can’t even imagine how bad this would be if it wasn’t for Rex’s intangibilty dampening most of the damage...!

I bit down on my lower lip and unleashed a destructive barrage of explosions down below me, the sonic screech fading as I blasted the bottom of the space relentlessly.

As I stopped firing and began to open my eyes, I suddenly froze in place, a powerful force restraining me. Wh-What...?

"Oh, hell, yeah! It actually worked!"

I slipped out of the grasp as Rex turned me fully intangible, spinning around as I got some distance.

Jaden was hovering in midair, with his Rejuven Spirit draped around his shoulders.

Ohh, I get it now...he must have used his Telekinetic Zone. That Spell’s powerful, but he can only maintain it for a couple of seconds because it puts a tremendous strain on his body.

But with that Rejuven Spirit’s immense healing prowess, he’s able to offset that backlash and effectively negate the toll it takes on him.

And he doesn’t even need to use Spirit Fusion to pull that off, he just needs to maintain contact with the Spirit...in other words, he can use its healing ability indefinitely since he doesn’t need to fuse with the Spirit to be able to use it.

He can fuse with his other Spirits while still making full use of the Rejuven’s healing, that’s pretty damn broken.

"Seems that Spirit is even more useful than I initially thought," I remarked with a wry smile.

"Oh, yeah, this worked even better than I thought it would! Never imagined I’d be able to use Telekinetic Zone freely like this, I can finally actually train with it now too! Ooh, maybe I’ll be able to expand its range as well," He grinned with a bright gleam in his eyes, before adding, "Alright, let’s keep going! I’ve got a lot more that I wanna test out, so bring it!"
