SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 229: Ultimate Commander Err’s Grand Plan
"Why not?"
White asked with a shrug.
"They’re all useless anyway."
"I understand why you think Galaxy Ranked Experts are useless. They’re the strongest but don’t fight the strongest, so they’re useless, right?"
Ultimate Commander Err said, retaking his seat.
"Well, that doesn’t make them sound useful, does it?"
"That’s where you’re wrong."
He said.
"Think about it."
"An Alphanomalous Creature is an all-powerful existence that can easily wipe out even a megacity, yet there has been no case of a city being wiped out by an Alphanomalous Creature before."
He said as White’s brow creased.
"Why do you think that is?"
"Or if I can reframe... what holds back the hands of an Alphanomalous Creature, especially when it knows we Humans are afraid of killing it because we’ll trigger the forbidden bond that can destroy us all?"
He asked.
It took a moment of thought, but White arrived at the answer.
"The simple fact that it can be killed."
"Brilliant!"
Commander Err said, unable to conceal his disbelief at White getting right to the answer.
"An Alphanomalous Creature might indeed be able to wipe out a megacity, but if it does, it knows one thing very well for sure, that we Humans will always fight back, and we will do everything to kill it."
"Nothing... not even triggering the bond will stop we Humans from coming together and killing off a Vampire Lord for destroying one of our megacities."
"And every Alphanomalous Creature knows that if there ever comes a day when Humanity is forced with its back against the wall, it will become revengeful."
"If a Vampire Lord destroys a city, and we kill it, only to have all of the Alphanomalous Creatures descend on us, then one thing is sure, and that is that even if Humans are destroyed, Vampires will also cease to exist."
"We will take down every last Vampire and drag them all down to the depths of hell with us."
"This, White... this is what keeps the Alphanomalous Creatures’ hands back, and created the stalemate along with the peace that we Humans have now."
"But without Galaxy Ranked Experts, the Supernaturals now have nothing to be afraid of. In an instant, Earth will be destroyed by them."
"So, no. Galaxy Ranked Experts aren’t useless. In fact, they prevent true destruction by simply existing."
He explained, and White hummed deeply.
He understood things a bit better now... though he didn’t like it all.
There was a stalemate born from realization, but the peace that came from it wasn’t truly in the hands of Humans. It was still in the hands of Supernaturals.
"So your Galaxial Exploration..."
White said, getting back to the original topic.
"Is essentially a way to cure the Galaxy Ranks of their boredom. If they can’t fight, they obviously need something else to occupy their itchy hands, so you send them out to space?"
White asked.
"You’re not right, but you’re also not wrong. Most Galaxy Ranks are members of the EGES, and boredom is indeed a factor."
"But the true factor is deeper, and it starts from a question."
"Why aren’t Supernaturals in a hurry to destroy us?"
The Commander asked rhetorically as White listened.
"Because they know they control everything."
"See, the Cultivation Manuals that we have, we got from ruins. Without those manuals, there wouldn’t even be a fight, just a massacre."
"Everything of importance that we Humans ever had, we got from ruins, and the Supernaturals know this."
"They’ve already seen our Essence Cultivation Manual and know that the peak stage of it is the Galaxy Rank. No Human can go above Galaxy Rank simply because there is no rank above Galaxy."
"But not only that, the Supernaturals know that if they keep allowing us access to ruins that are in the unexplored areas, then one day we will get our hands on something that could give us the power to destroy them for good." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"So what do they do to prevent that?"
He asked.
"Cut off our access to ruins by rounding us up to the center."
White replied.
"Exactly. The Supernaturals aren’t really in a hurry to finish us off because, in their minds, we’re of no real threat since we have no access to ruins, meaning we can’t ever grow stronger than them, and we also can’t kill the strongest of them because we’re afraid of the repercussions."
"To them, we’re basically no threat, and they’re in no rush to rid themselves of us all."
He said, and White understood perfectly.
This was what happened in the future.
The Supernaturals had enough power right now to destroy Humanity, but in the future, ten years from now, there was still no all-out war.
Instead, what the Supernaturals were doing was slowly taking over the highest hierarchies of the major organizations on Earth, taking over the minds of UEF Commanders.
That showed they weren’t in a rush at all.
In fact, this ’war’ might be nothing more than an amusing game to the Supernaturals.
"But what they don’t know is that we’ve found a way to access ruins. Galaxial Exploration."
"We’ve found materials that are beyond durable, and there are facilities all over Earth that are developing extremely potent weapons from the materials that we have found from these explorations."
"One day, White... we Humans will be able to find a way to break past our racial potential and grow beyond the Galaxy Stage."
"And there, above the Galaxy Stage, is the same stage that those Alphanomalous Creatures are at. Once we Humans can reach it, then... the battlefield will level."
He said, like a person revealing their grand evil plan, but White didn’t much change in expression, something Ultimate Commander Err was easily able to notice.
"You don’t seem exactly excited by the prospect of EGES."
He said.
"I am excited."
White said.
"For us to find something in the ruins that can make us surpass Galaxy Rank and finally have one Awakener able to go toe-to-toe with an Alphanomalous Creature."
"That will be beyond great news, but... I’m from the future."
White said, as Ultimate Commander Err froze, his heart suddenly pounding loudly from White’s next words.
"And in the future... Humans never won."
