SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 27— warnings or Threats
Laden unknowingly took one step back, extremely shocked by Dally’s words.
"Who are you talking to, Miss Dally?" Laden asked.
Dally looked at Laden, her expression growing a bit softer before shaking her head, not saying any words.
"Drop the act, you know she was talking to me," Prime said from inside the Nascent Space.
"How and Why?" he asked worriedly.
"How am I supposed to know? Did you see the mind reading out of the abilities that you got from me?" Prime asked.
"Hope all is fine, Miss Dally," Laden asked again, his tone slightly shaky.
"Everything will probably be fine if you get a good result in the upcoming test."
"Don’t ask anything anymore; you can leave," she dismisses Laden while turning to look somewhere else.
Laden stood there awkwardly wondering what he was supposed to do now after he had been dismissed but still left hanging.
"That wasn’t nice," Laden muttered while turning around to leave.
While still sitting on her throne, Dally turned around to see Laden’s retreating figure, her eyes growing a tiny bit softer while she spoke in a low voice.
"This is for you, and you will thank me later."
Unbeknownst to Laden, someone was already silently apologizing to him, but for him at the moment, his mind was fully occupied with something else.
"Prime, we are going outside of the terminal to hunt Evil beasts, we have no idea what they are or how strong they are, what do we do?" He asked.
In the Nascent Space, Prime looked to the Nascent Core that was floating quietly very close to him before he sighed.
"Our best bet is that big opportunity that I felt was coming," Prime said.
"Since we don’t know how strong our opponents are, we only have to be stronger so we can handle anything."
Laden thought for a while, his mind completely separate from his body, just moving in a straight line.
"But now, we don’t just have to survive; we need to do extremely well for our own sake, according to Miss Dally," Laden finally spoke up after a bit.
"Though this Primordial one doesn’t feel pleased with that Lady for her words, I don’t sense any personal malice, so she is probably doing this for us," Prime said.
The two of them continued analyzing their situation, hoping someone would bring some ideas that could help them maneuver most of it cleanly; none of them seemed to have anything.
"We just have to try our best," Laden said helplessly.
While he was leaving the School premises, Laden suddenly felt an extremely ominous feeling coming from straight behind him, making him turn around in fear.
"Shit, shit, they are back," Prime said while he and Laden stared his assailant in the face.
It was Maxwell.
"Is there any way I can help you, Maxwell?" Laden said in a weirdly calm voice.
Seeing Laden’s mostly unbothered by his earlier show, Maxwell felt some sort of anger welling up in him, but he tried his absolute best to suppress it, and it seems like he was successful.
"I just came to tell you something," Maxwell said with a devilish smile.
"I was defeated previously because of my rush; it was very smart of you to choose two days after the summoning ceremony, giving me no time to actually get Accustomed to fighting with a Summon,"
"I applaud you, I really do," he clapped in a calm and rhythmic form.
"But sadly that won’t be working again; you and your monkey better watch your back," He said.
"And thankfully uncle Jones has given me the perfect opportunity."
While Maxwell spoke on and on about his revenge and all that, Prime and Laden were stuck in a conversation of their own making, making them mostly oblivious to what he was saying.
"He has changed Laden," Prime said from the Nascent Space.
"If you guys fought now, I wonder who would win."
"And that’s exactly why the two of you should fight right now, battling out all of your hatred like True men."
Despite not showing any particular response externally, Laden was shaking his head inwardly, realizing just how battle-crazy Laden actually was.
"You are still thinking of battle in such a situation," Laden said with a bit of anger.
"Obviously, what else am I supposed to think of?" Prime retorted.
Outside, Maxwell stood there awaiting Laden’s reaction, but he couldn’t help but notice the extremely distracted expression Laden had on.
But he wanted to fume and crash out, but he maintained himself and didn’t say anything, only turning around to leave with a sly smile.
"He has changed a lot in a few days," Laden muttered.
He had intentionally looked extremely absentminded to infuriate Maxwell and force him to attack so he could have a faint idea of how strong he was now, but it all didn’t happen.
"I guess we will have to try later," Laden said while also turning around to head back home.
"You act all innocent, but secretly you also love battle," Prime said.
"No, I don’t," Laden retorted.
"Yeah right."
The moment he had left the school premises, Laden’s journey back home had become much more quiet. Nothing really exceptional happened except for the fact that people still were done gossiping about last night’s event.
Allowing Laden to acquire more information as to what exactly happened.
"Did you know that someone said that the reason that Jones attacked the Evil beast was because of a windfall?" gossiper A said.
"Really?" Gossiper B responded.
"Yes, really; they said he chanced upon a windfall and decided to do some good as some sort of payment," Gossiper A completed.
Though the two were still discussing, Laden had moved too far Forward making their words fall a bit short.
"I wonder where they always get their information," Laden said with a smile.
Soon he arrived back home, but his parents weren’t around, so he quickly headed towards the room with a determined expression.
"If we want to grow stronger, what faster way do we have than battle," Laden said.
"Let’s head to the Spirit World and go cause a bit of trouble."
"Right now? It isn’t even dark yet," Prime questioned.
"Hurry, we have no time to lose," Laden said.
"Exactly," a strange voice suddenly sounded in Laden’s mind.
