"Emi..." I quickly turned around and found her lying on the ground. She was rubbing her buttocks. She had fallen off my back; nothing much to worry about.

No, there is... I looked at myself, and found my body was moving through the strings, without being cut by them. I had forgotten to switch off the eyes of void, and I was actually able to move through them. Unlike the past, when I got my finger cut when I tried to touch them.

I quickly tried moving my hand around and found that somehow, my hands were easily able to pass through these silver strings.

I didn’t get much time to enjoy this new discovery, as I saw Adrine going over to help Emi. I turned off the void eyes, causing the silver strings to disappear before offering her a helping hand to get up.

Given two choices, Adrine and I, she only gave Adrine a polite smile and took my hand to stand up.

"How did you fall?" I asked.

"I don’t know, as you began looking above, I too looked at the sky, then I suddenly couldn’t feel your body, and fell." She explained, also not knowing what had happened.

"Oh," I had my own guess as to why she wasn’t able to feel my body. This time, when I used the eyes of the void, I was able to pass through void strings; maybe I was able to pass through other matters, too. If it were to be true, then these eyes of the void are some really, really good stuff.

Well, this wasn’t the time to think about this. I turned back to Adrine and Ron.

"What were you guys looking for in the clouds?"

"I don’t know, I was just following his action, to see if there was something."

Adrine replied casually, before turning to Ron.

"There is a huge spell there. It is even covering the city below; everything within a 5 km radius." Ron said, without much emotion. Acting aloof and cold, did he think he looked cool doing so?

I squinted my eyes at him, not saying anything. All I wanted to hear was the plan, if he had any, to leave this place. If he didn’t get one, then I will think of one myself.

"Okay... so what this demon is trying to do here, from the look of it. He didn’t seem to be just after those mines." Adrine asked, looking a bit confused, they weren’t horrified, which gave me some hope about leaving this place.

"From the looks of it, it didn’t just want to open a portal for other demons to come here, but it is trying to do the ascension ritual to the Sacred Rank," Ron said, and from his words, I knew this Sacred rank was above the Ascended rank. As for their proper strength, I still didn’t know much about that.

"Good, Good... it looks like we fucked up," Adrine said, waving his fan at his face, acting calm, but the sweat was clearly visible on his face.

"We still have some time left, let’s go," Ron said, jumping off the cliff.

"Why the hell did he know so much about these curses and stuff?" I asked Adrine, with a little curiosity, as I picked Emi up, following behind Ron.

"He is an expert when it comes to curses and demons; he even knows more than the elders," Adrine replied.

"Oh"

We continued moving forward, avoiding the path that those undead took, and we took a long turn to get down the mountain.

"What the hell is happening here?" I cursed when I saw the entire city had fallen under the chaos, as these undead were roaming the streets. This was when we were still on the outskirts of the city. While more and more of these half-eaten and rotten skeletons were coming from inside the city.

"What should we do? I don’t think the metro will be working here." I asked, when no one said anything.

"I think so too, at least in the city, we would have better odds at survival than in the mountains, we won’t even know when some undead might pull you down the ground, at least concrete floors and streets will protect us more than the mountains," Adrine said righteously, taking a very logical reason to come here.

"And... with more people, we won’t be the only target."

He added at the end, smiling crookedly.

"Can’t deny," I really didn’t see any problem with his words, as long as I don’t really care about people, but I might get a lot of perverted points and rewards out there in the city. With undead chaos, collecting rewards from the system won’t be hard, and I might get another high-grade treasure chest.

Thinking about getting a new treasure chest, I couldn’t help but find this Wong Zhi mountain trip a great yield. I had gotten way too many rewards in such a short time.

With our fast speed and agile movements, we didn’t attract any of these creatures’ attention as we stepped into a small general store to hide, because big places were already packed with people, and we needed some privacy.

As we stepped inside the shop, Ron quickly pulled down the shutter, and Mink swiftly exploded the two undead’s heads.

"Wow, he is really quick," Adrine’s eyes were always on Mink since he saw him using that rune in the cave.

Ron snatched off the curtain and quickly tied both of the undead corpses. As he explained, "The cursed undead like them couldn’t be killed with their head exploded, it can only paralyse them for a while."

"Ooh..."

All of us took his word very seriously, as I pulled out two water bottles from the store, handing one to Emi, before I gulped down the entire bottle.

"Huff~ that chase was really exhausting."

After drinking the entire bottle, I simply sat down on the ground, finally giving rest to my legs.
