Chapter 134: The Cave Door

Sheila and Freddy’s eyes were wide in shock as they saw everything from a perspective that Stanley couldn’t.

To Stanley, the world moved slowly as he weaved in and through the monster’s attacks while attacking them back. They were like puppets that just stood there and let him attack.

However, the outsiders who couldn’t experience time any differently like Stanley could, they saw what was truly happening on the battlefield.

Stanley was a blur in his fight against the Crawler, moving at a speed that made it impossible for either of the two to keep track of him. They only saw a streak and then at the next moment a falling limb of a Crawler.

The Crawlers were getting cut up at such a quick rate that they couldn’t even regenerate. As Stanley cut through them, they were getting smaller and smaller until...

Stanley slowed down, getting on one knee as he had to breathe heavily because of how tired he was.

Breathing itself was very hard when the time was stopped as the air refused to move into his lungs at a rate that would justify remaining in slowed-down time forever.

At first, it was all fine as he fought the Crawlers without a single break. However, after exerting too much force and not being able to breathe, he had to come out.

Not only that, but it was also very hard to continue fighting in the slowed-down time as his body didn’t feel as strong as it was normal. He had to exert a lot of force to do anything in slowed-down time.

Looking at it from an outside perfective, he was moving objects at a speed that nearly caused sonic books. To push an object at that sort of speed, be it the sword, or the air itself, required a ton of strength, which Stanley didn’t have.

After about 10 seconds of slowed down time, which to him felt like it was over 2 minutes, he was completely out of breath and his muscles burned from the fatigue.

He breathed normally for a few more seconds and then saw that the Crawler’s bodies, which were down to just a single ball of black mass had started growing again.

He took his sword and got ready to fight again.

With the Crawlers missing limbs for a while, Stanley just attacked normally without slowing down time. He cut them up one by one, focusing mostly on their budding arms to stop them from being a threat again.

The Crawlers were clueless about what to do, so they mostly just remained there and took the attack from Stanley.

After a while, the first Crawler dissipated into a black mist that floated along the surface of the pond. Once one of them was dead, killing the other two became that much easier.

Sheila and Freddy finally moved after the last one died and went around the pond. "Let’s go in quickly," Shiela said and walked over to the cave.

Stanley directly went through the waterfall and arrived on the other side.

Freddy stopped before him and looked at him carefully. "Are you okay, Stanley?" he asked.

"I’m a little tired, but I’m fine," Stanley said as he moved around his arms. His body was fatigued from all the fights and troubles he had to go through today. Thankfully, his powers were keeping him from getting too tired to move.

"How... how did you kill 3 Crawlers by yourself?" Freddy asked. "You were barely visible to us, right sister?"

Sheila said nothing.

"It was my new power," Stanley said. "I saw slow down time now, along with knowing what happens in the future."

"Slow down... time?" Freddy asked with a confused expression. "How does that work?"

Sheila looked at Stanley with a terrified expression. ’Dammit,’ she thought. ’He truly is a Nova.’

She could tell that with every moment that passed, he was slowly getting stronger and stronger thanks to the many people that were dying around them.

This far away from the main battle, it was unlikely that he was even getting a third of the power from the people that had died. But even then, having thousands of dead people was helping him grow at a rate that he himself couldn’t keep up with.

’Future Sight, Slowed time, Strength Enhancement,’ Sheila thought. ’What else is he going to awaken in the future?’

There had to be a future for them for that to be a cause for concern. "Come on, let’s hurry up. We need to find a way to open that door," she said.

They walked over to the end of the cave where the yellow shield and door was located. Sheila placed her palm on the panel which buzzed a little and then glowed red.

"What are you doing?" Stanley asked.

"Trying to see if this thing even works or not," she said. "Last time I was worried I would trigger something, so I didn’t examine it properly. Thankfully, it seems it is."

"What is that?" Freddy asked.

"It’s a palm reader," Sheila said. "It reads the lines on your palm to recognize if it’s you or not. Give me the palm."

Stanley nodded to himself when he saw that and was surprised when Freddy walked up with something that he had kept in his pockets.

"Is this why you made me carry it?" he asked.

"Yes," Sheila said as she took a cut-off palm that Freddy had been holding.

"What’s that?" Stanley asked.

"A hand," she said and looked back. "The one you cut off."

Stanley thought for a bit and nodded. "And you’re going to use that to unlock the door?" he asked.

"I’m going to try," Sheila said and placed her palm on the reader. They all waiting for it to check and their disappointment grew at the same time when the color red showed up.

"Dammit! It’s not his palm that is recorded in here either," Sheila shouted in frustration.

"Don’t even bother," a voice spoke, catching everyone’s attention. "You’re not going to be able to open that normally."
