Chapter 147: Status

"Man... manslaughter?" the Captain was surprised and quickly turned to look at the young officer next to him. "What do you mean? Where did those charges come from?"

"Here," the young man pulled up something.

A hologram of the steel sword appeared in the air, confusing the captain. "Is that... a metal sword?" he asked.

"It is," the young man said. "Not modifications at all too. No shield, or plasma, nothing. There isn’t even a placeholder for a Plasmium. It’s almost as if it was something from the old days."

The captain frowned. "And why does this make him a manslaughter?" he asked. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"Oh right," the young man said and pulled up something. "We tested the metal after seeing traces of blood on it, and on testing, we found that it had 3 different traces of DNA on it."

"One of them belongs to a young woman he brought in, but the other two... those DNA don’t exist on our records as well. We believe that the other two people might be dead, so for now we are holding him in case there is a possibility of manslaughter."

The captain couldn’t help but frown hard when hearing about this. "How the hell can this be?" he asked. "How can there exist 3 people that we have absolutely no idea about? Were they living away in the mountains or what?"

"Actually, going off of the young man’s language... I think he might be a time traveler from the past."

The captain glared at the young man, who cowered a bit and looked away.

"Umm, it can be someone’s powers too that changed his DNA. That is a possibility too."

"The change in language doesn’t suggest that," he said. "Send the information to the headquarters as well. See if they are hiding information from us."

"Yes, captain," the young man said and pressed a few buttons on the computer.

’3 different people without a single piece of information on them, could it really be a time traveler from the past?’ the captain wondered. He didn’t think that was possible, but the possibilities in this world, when it came to any sort of powers, were endless.

"Did you check the young man’s powers?" he asked the young officer.

"Yes," the young man replied. "Officer Josh checked earlier, and it is said that he has 2nd Grade powers. We’ll have to see what they are though."

"2nd grade?" the captain’s eyes widened a bit in shock. "That’s enough for him to be a high-ranking officer. Make sure to have the system working around him at all times to figure out what his power might be."

"Understood, captain," the young man replied.

"What about the girl? She has information, doesn’t she?"

"She does... but she is no less weird either," the young man quickly pulled up Sheila’s info. "Sheila Hales, born on the 14th day of the 8th month on a small island belonging to the nation of Pandene."

"She was born to parents who were part of a small clan, and about 6 years ago, they died when the Blood Nova of that clan decided to destroy everything and kill them all," the young man said. "That’s where her weirdness appears as well."

The young man zoomed in on something that immediately caused all sorts of confusion to the captain.

"What... what the hell is this?" he asked, not only in annoyance but in fear as well. In a single day, he was seeing two different people, each of whom gave him a headache just by their existence.

Stanley was someone that didn’t exist at all.

As for Sheila, the glaring two words on the screen were enough to give anyone a round of confusion and surprise. The two words being...

Status: Deceased

According to their info, the girl known as Sheila Hales was said to have died during the attack on her clan when the Blood Nova turned on all of them. Her date of date was 6 years ago, so the fact that she was in a hospital close by confused the captain so very much.

"Just what the hell is happening?" he asked. "Are you sure we are not being pranked by someone? How can there be 2 completely unique, completely unexplainable existences in the same place at the same damn time?"

The young man shrugged and shook his head. "I have sent the information over to Pandene’s police forces to confirm that she is indeed dead. We will soon hear from them if she is truly dead or not."

"Good," the captain said. "Show me her entire file again. I want to look—"

The captain paused. "Wait a second, I’m getting a call," he said and pressed something on his ear. Suddenly, a glowing yellow shield appeared around him that covered his face in its entirety.

The young man looked at the captain, wondering who he was talking to. As he watched, he saw the captain’s face turn from a shock to a smile to confusion and finally acceptance.

The call lasted no longer than 30 seconds, but that was enough for the captain to go through multiple different emotions and facial expressions.

Once the call was over, the shield disappeared and the young man could finally hear the captain’s voice.

"Just what the hell is going on?" he softly asked himself.

"Captain?" the young man asked.

The captain looked up at the screen once again with a serious face. "That was a call from the president’s secretary," he said. "We now have a direct order from the president himself to drop whatever charges it is that is placed on either of these two immediately."

"Especially the girl," the captain said. "Remove all information in our database about her that wasn’t already there. It all needs to return to the way it was just an hour ago, understood?"

The young officer was a little surprised. "Ye-yes, captain," he said and quickly went to work.

The captain walked out of the room, still reeling in shock. He could tell that the president was only relaying orders to him.

There was someone out there that could force the president to do something, and that fact scared the captain.
