Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 291: Realization (5)
"... SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Luke raised his voice after taking a deep breath, he was tired of that nonsense.
Instantly, the survivors who almost reached the one thousand mark in front of him went silent. When it comes to matters like that, Luke has a short fuse, so he tends to solve the problems like his father.
"I left my father and mother in charge, my father knows how to lead better, but he doesn’t listen much, that is why my mother was here to help," Luke said. "But it seems some fools tried to overwhelm them by being loud... I will hear your complaints now, but be careful. I am even less patient than my father. Who knows what might happen if you say the wrong words."
Luke crossed his arms and then waited to hear anything, but nothing came from anyone’s mouth. It seemed that he scared them a bit too much, but he couldn’t care less about that. In any case, after looking around for a while, Luke found some guys with a weird reddish aura. When he used Appraisal, he saw something interesting.

As expected, Luke didn’t find any weird negative effect on that guy’s status since being a follower actually helped them quite a bit. Still, he could see the skills that another overlord granted him. In any case, since he had two red crystals, Luke could sense when someone was a follower of someone else, that was why he saw that red aura.
"You, you, you, and you... step forward," Luke said, which made everyone frown, but those four guys suddenly stiffened up.
"What for?" Hector asked.
It was pretty obvious that Hector was a former soldier, he had a good physique, and he maintained his dark hair pretty short, like military men. Not to mention, he had a certain posture that passed confidence to others, and one could see in his green eyes a glint of someone who was very experienced in fighting.
"For no reason, I just randomly choose four people, I want to hear your complaints about the whole situation," Luke replied.
"You are lying... you just want to make an example out of us to make sure that everyone will obey you without thinking for themselves!" Hector said.
"Dear me, how evil I am!" Luke said. "Whatever, I promise that I won’t do anything to you all if you come forward and answer my questions honestly."
Despite that, none of those four stepped forward. His friends and his parents had realized that Luke found those guys suspicious, but the others finally began to move away from them. Knowing his parents, they should have seen those skills since they had Appraisal, but maybe, they didn’t see it because they weren’t overlords.
"So, are you going to step forward or will I have to make you do that?" Luke asked.
The very moment those guys tried to move away, Luke made them sink to the underground with his Earth Manipulation. He made them completely be eaten by the ground of the fortress, but then he emerged them again while being covered by a massive block of earth. Their eyes were covered as well since Luke didn’t want them to use magic.
"Come to think of it, there is no need to cover your eyes since I can just throw you guys from the border of the fortress," Luke said. "I will make sure that you will land on your head. I can also crush you all by using Earth Manipulation, so the options are quite numerous."
"Luke..." Julia said, looking concerned.
"Ahem... I imagine that the Overlord that you work for forbade you from talking about them, even though I am pretty sure it is Frank, there are other ways to confirm that," Luke said. "Who were the leaders of the groups that accepted them?"
Three guys and one woman stepped forward. They had no reason to lie, after all, or hide themselves since Luke seemed reasonable. They answered Luke’s question. Apparently, they showed up almost on the very same week Mark and Julia appeared and offered them the chance to come to the fortress. So, it seemed that Frank wanted to infiltrate them on that flying fortress for whatever reason. Still, Luke already knew the reason.
"It seems that Frank realized that you wanted to leave his camp," Luke said while looking at the cloaked figure. "You helped us the last time, so I will overlook the problems that you caused us."
"I am thankful for that," the cloaked figure said.
It was the voice of a young boy, and based on the reactions of everyone, he barely had talked since his arrival on the previous day. Regardless, that was a good chance for Luke to confirm several things.
"Why did you come here?" Luke asked.
"To your fortress or to your planet?" The cloaked figure asked.
"I want an explanation for both," Luke said.
"I had come to your world because I saw the potential of finding someone that could face the Legendary overlords," the cloaked figure replied. "Despite your weak constitution and inability to use mana before the arrival of the monsters, your people managed to survive and create many groups of survivors, even though most people have concluded that your species wouldn’t endure even for a week."
"Well, thank you for your vote of confidence," Luke said.
