Chapter 85: Choking a man to death.
Donny was hanging the furthest back, so Harvey targeted him with a few of his men, making sure he couldn’t get help from anyone at the moment.
Harvey was a big guy. Dressed in standard attire, his gut seemed to almost poke out.
He was on the verge of being fat, but his physical prowess spoke for itself.
One’s appearance mattered the least in a world like this.
He swung his cleaver repeatedly as Donny dodged, looking for a window to strike.
His strategy was simple, Smothering you with his attacks until you died.
He wasn’t the most skilled however, but it didn’t matter, Donny didn’t want to risk going blow for blow at the moment.
Reaching into his cloak, he pulled out two knives, throwing in them at Harvey.
Noticing these knives, Harvey laughed a bit, Swatting them out of the air with his empty right hand, he sighed. "Funny enough, your better than most of the people I’ve killed here."
He only got minor cuts from the knives, Blood dripping down his hand that he was ignoring.
Donny raised his eyebrows "there were more?"
"Oh yeah. A few told us they were here to stop a bandit group from taking over the place, and since we were probably the ones they were referring to, they were the first to be killed.
A few more came in and we just decided to lump them in too."
He then charged forward once again. More soldiers would have joined in, but they would just get torn apart if not by Donny than by Harvey.
Donny had just barely dodged another swing,
Slashing his short sword across Harvey’s rib.
This angered him enough to move so fast it surprised Donny himself.
"YOU FUCKING INSECT!!"
The last thing Donny saw was a glint of metal before he was Being hurled forcefully through the air, Crashing twenty feet away.
Donny’s body crashed against the floor as his vision returned to semi normal. He would be seeing double if he could see at all. He put a hand to the massive gash on his forehead, he could feel the blood on his glove.
Worse off it had leaked into his one good eye.
"Donovan, your luck is truly impeccable."
The rumbling of footsteps let him know that it wasn’t just Harvey he had to worry about.
The goddess once again showered him with blessings.
"He’s fading, Get there and kill him quickly."
Men began closing in on him, some going forward, others charging at him.
Barely wiping the blood from his eye, he could kind of see, his forehead was killing him and now he had a bunch of bastards knawing at his ankles.
Dodging an arrow, He was about to come at them, but something happened.
A mysterious figure was slashing through enemy lines. Seemingly walking through people as they killed indiscriminately.
Almost Immidiately, Attention was diverted to the one in their ranks. Upon focusing, it looked to be a woman figure, Donny didn’t have time to care however. An opportunity had arisen for him to murder Harvey, and he wasn’t going to let it slip by.
He had to ignore the constant throbbing of his forehead, And the occasional enemy who had to cut down but Harvey was walking towards him as well.
Eventually they were standing across from each other. "What took you so long?"
Donny was asking but he knew already. The knives he threw at Harvey before were laced with poison. Even the sword he Used to hack through Harvey’s ribs was as well.
They acted faster than expected, With Harvey’s hand visibly becoming purple and looking deathly.
’Damn Harold. Perhaps I should ask you for other things as well.’
Right now Harvey was sweating, Looking like it was hard to even breathe, yet he advanced.
"If I don’t kill you, Someone in my team will."
Donny shook his head. "You’ve sent the best you can muster and yet your still going to die. I have no doubt that the men under you will have worse fates."
"Besides, You’re stalling. You just never thought that it could be you in this predicament." Donny walked slowly with a sword in one hand and a ball of string in another.
Harvey was tired of his talking. Any creature that had to use poison were prey. That worked in the wild and it would work here as well.
"Enough."
Harvey Charged forward with his left hand holding his blade at the ready.
Donny did as well. The moment they got close, Harvey swung and swung again.
He didn’t hit anything. He was much too slow now, but he had an idea.
Stabbing his sword into the floor, multiple cracks began appearing in the ground, making it quake and disrupting Donny’s fluid movement.
As his legs buckled trying to stay put, Harvey made a slash that was blocked, But he applied more force, sending the blade away.
Something was irritating Donny. In his spirit this wasn’t right. If he planned to stand beside his peers, as someone who planned to defeat a noble house and be strong enough to protect his girlfriend, how was he supposed to live up to that, when trash like this was giving him problems?
It was difficult for him to accept. He refused to let this go on any longer.
Donny backed up once more, An angry expression covering his face. "JUST DIE!"
Digging into his coat, he found more knives, throwing them into his left arm, the one that held his blade.
As Harvey’s arm began getting turned into a pin cushion, he dropped his blade.
Donny ran towards him with no sword, Harvey gritting his teeth, went for a headbutt that Donny jumped over as he wrapped a metal wire around his neck.
As he got behind Harvey, He pulled with all his might, a crazed look in his eyes.
Harvey was So mad steam seemed to axit his mouth as he spoke, half choked. "STUPID FUCKING RAT!"
Harvey leaned back, Slamming Donny onto the floor. Uprooting dirt where it happened.
He lifted his body up and did it once more.
Donny hung on for the ride, pulling hard enough that his hands were getting numb.
After 3 minutes, the slamming slowed down.
Harvey looked toward the sky that was getting dark, his eyes were a reddish pink in color, and his face was blue. As he lay on top of Donny, he looked towards the night sky.
It looked beautiful. There were roomers in more rural area that didn’t worship the goddess that when you die, you become a star.
Perhaps some of the people he killed were up there. Surely someone like him was better of in the ground.
He couldn’t muster up a word at the moment but the last thought on his mind was:
’Beautiful.’
Once the Resistance stopped, Donnie threw the heavy man off of him. He sat up and saw a woman walking towards him. Jasmine to be precise, and she seemed to be in a hurry.
"What’s the matter?" He asked almost in a daze. "Thanks back there by the way."
Jasmine on the other hand was worried. She would have loved to have a bonding moment, but he looked half dead, and this bleeding wasn’t helping. He needed either Chase and Andrew to help him out at the moment.
