The Last Vampire God
Chapter 23: Bloodline [2]
He glances down at his armor for a moment before looking back up at me.
"You vamps are really quite the savages," He says with a disgusted look on his face.
GRIP!!!
I grip my sword so tight that I feel like I can break the handle if I hold it any tighter than this.
"We’re savages?!?! You’re the one here helping another kingdom kill innocent people for what?! We weren’t even fighting or drinking blood from humans and you all attacked us! This is no different from what you did to us!" I shout with anger as I feel the rage burning from within.
"You would never understand, but it doesn’t matter," He responds while aiming his pistol once again.
As I go to dodge the shot I notice he wasn’t aiming it at me this time and it was going towards somewhere behind me.
SHATTER!!!!
It breaks one of the small chains, the ones holding the lanterns that were hanging on the ceiling and it falls immediately. The moment it breaks, fire starts to light the place up.
"I’d like to guarantee your death," He says with a serious look on his face.
His carefree attitude seems to have disappeared entirely now which is good. I was kind of getting annoyed with it before but there’s no justification for this.
What they’re doing to Ariel, the people who live here, or even what they did to my family in the past.
None of this is right in the slightest but this asshole just tells me that I wouldn’t understand. I don’t think there is much to understand when it comes to burning down an entire capital like this.
The people here did nothing wrong and from what I know, this place has been peaceful for a long time. Lumiel really isn’t any different than these damn hunters that come after me.
All of them are pieces of shit who deserve to die.
I rush towards him, watching his hand that holds the pistol. Everything around me is still hard as hell to see with this dark red clouding my vision.
CLANG!!! CLANG!!!!
Nonetheless we begin to clash once again... Our blades hitting back and forth as we both seem to speed up. I’m also beginning to notice a strange aura radiating from him.
It is unclear what the aura really is, but that could be the source of his strength.
CLASH!!!!
This time after our swords clash I quickly kick him in the stomach before dashing forward once again. Everything needs to be smart or else I’ll end up dying here like he wants.
SWING!
I bring my sword up towards him before he can react this time; My sword manages to cut right up through his armor and across his face before he falls back again.
"You disgusting animal!!!! I’ll make you pay for this!!!" He shouts, anger overtaking him.
BANG!!! BANG!!!!
He fires off two shots in an instant, giving me no chance to react this time.
PIERCE!!
I look down to see his sword through my chest and both of the bullets he fired went through my shoulders. One in my right while the other went through the left.
Pain is going all throughout my body but it isn’t stopping me from doing what I must to survive.
With my free hand I grab hold of his hand holding the sword and begin to tighten my grip as much as I can. Slowly I can feel something happening.
CRUNCH!!!
"Gahhh!!!! What the hell?!?!" He shouts as he lets go of the sword.
He backs up a bit while holding his hand, it appears that I broke it after all. I can see the different directions his hand is now.
GRIP!!! RIP!!!
I rip the sword out from my chest, ignoring the pain as I watch the hunter. He doesn’t look like he knows what to do now since his hand is broken.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
My blood is hitting the ground with each second that passes by, yet I don’t think I’m done fighting. Everything inside me should’ve told me to call it quits with all of this damage I took.
"What will you do?"
"Yes, what will he do?"
The fight itself is to the death so there’s no question about what must be done here. He can no longer use his sword, unless there is a trick up his sleeve that I don’t know about.
Hunters are sneaky like that so I wouldn’t really be surprised if he pulled something.
But I’m also struggling with this strange feeling going throughout my body as well... One that isn’t pain whatsoever; it is something greater than what I felt when drinking blood from Lia.
My bloodline.
CRACK!!!! RUMBLE!!!!
The ground around me starts to shake and begins to break. I don’t understand but then I look down towards my right arm to see scales forming, slowly going up to my shoulder.
BA-DUM. BA-DUM. BA-DUM.
My vision suddenly becomes crystal clear as I notice that even my sword has changed a bit with the scales. A strange purple glow is radiating all around me now too.
"What... What the hell!?!" He shouts with genuine fear forming in his voice.
Something feels like it formed from my head as well, not that I have the slightest clue on what it is. I just know all of the pain is gone now.
Black scales formed all along my right arm and my sword looks like it got an upgrade of sorts.
How unlucky for the hunter to witness something I’ve never gone through before... Is this from my family?
"Kill The Hunter!!!!"
"Make him pay!!!"
"Take HIS LIFE!!!!!
STOMP!!!!
I take the first step forward and immediately the ground breaks underneath my foot. The pressure from this change is a lot more intense than I thought as well.
SHATTER!!!!
The windows of the chapel also begin to break as I move towards the hunter, getting closer and closer. He doesn’t look like he has a clue on what to do.
