The Last Vampire God
Chapter 24: Overwhelming The Hunter
The moment I finally reach him I notice that his hand is healed, almost like it never broke but his sword isn’t nearby. It is across the room where I pulled it out.
It doesn’t matter what he attempts now since his death is certain at this point.
I swing my sword down towards him with all the pressure following behind it from this power.
As it approaches him it stops right before cutting him... Like something is holding it back from slashing down. I can’t really see anything around him.
"I was really worried I couldn’t pull it off in time," He says while wiping his face.
I don’t see a reason to say anything so I keep pushing my sword down towards him, ignoring any other comments. It feels as if some force is holding back my attack.
He does appear to be reloading his pistol as I’m pushing against this invisible force at the moment.
"This isn’t everything you have!!!"
"Use more!!!"
"Yes, use more!"
Maybe hearing these voices isn’t the worst thing in the world since they can be helpful sometimes. I’ll have to try to use this power of mine more if I want to break through this shit.
I will overwhelm him and make sure that he does die here today.
CRACKLE!!!
The invisible force suddenly begins to show cracks as the hunter falls back onto the floor.
"How the hell are you getting through?!?!" He shouts with complete disbelief.
CRACKLE!!! CRACKLE!!!
It cracks even more to the point it is about to break, all while the hunter has stopped trying to reload his pistol. It completely caught him off guard that I am potentially able to break through this thing.
SHATTER!!!!!
The force finally disappears as I swing my sword down towards him; just he manages to roll out of the way in time as I continue to move towards him.
He’s on the ground right now which gives me the biggest advantage since he can’t move as fast.
So if I just swing like crazy it won’t really matter how many times he tries to roll out of the way. There’s not too many places to roll in the first place.
Swing!!! Slash!!! Swing!!!!
It doesn’t take much for me to begin swinging my sword towards him over and over again. Miss, hit, miss, miss, hit.
The damage is starting to stack up with each moment that goes by, blood is also spilling all over the ground. The hunter won’t be able to do this much longer at this point so I think it is safe to assume I win.
Thud.
He finally backs into a wall as he holds onto his chest.
"You aren’t like the others... What the hell are you?" He questions while trying to stop the bleeding.
"I am death. The one who will kill all the hunters and then I’ll slaughter the remaining humans," I respond with a serious tone.
"So the others will pay too, huh?" He questions with pain in his voice.
"You killed innocent vampires too, why should I be any different with the humans?" I respond with frustration in my voice.
I drive my sword into his chest, watching as he spits out blood. He isn’t dying in an instant but this is definitely quite satisfying to watch happen.
Flashes take away the sight of the hunter as I find myself standing in the study at the manor.
"So you’ve chosen to follow the path of blood after all," Mom speaks up.
"They are killing innocent people again. I think it is only right to kill them," I respond with anger in my voice.
"Not all humans are the enemy though. Look at the woman who saved your life as the best example," Mom says while turning around to face me.
Humans won’t all be like Mel and I still don’t know what her true intentions could be with saving my life. Yeah we spent two months together...
But still, I can’t help thinking that it was all for some information about me. Vampires are always seen as a threat because of what the generations before us did.
Yet, our family was never like that. Even during those times we didn’t slaughter humans or feed off of them.
That kindness is the same thing that got us killed in the first place.
"Dante I believe you can change this world for the better," Mom says with a smile.
"I’ll think about the other humans but I can’t guarantee anything," I reply while turning away from her.
The room begins to disappear as I find myself back in the chapel standing before the hunter. He won’t last much longer so I need to ask questions before it is too late.
Hell, this whole capital isn’t going to last much longer.
I kneel down besides him.
What would even be good to ask at this time? He probably won’t give me any answers since I am an enemy... But it doesn’t hurt to try I guess.
Anything about Lumiel would probably be helpful since I don’t really know much about the place to begin with. He won’t give me the plans they have or what to expect from them either.
"Why not try something different?"
"Yes, use his blood."
Use his blood? What will that help me achieve? Drinking would only help with my feeding as far as I’m aware...
"Memories from the blood."
Blood memories exist? I thought that was only a rumor that was told amongst our kind to give hope. It would tell us that we are a lot stronger and capable of getting information.
It might be time to put it to a test after all.
Except I don’t really know how it works or if I just drink blood like I normally would. That is where I’m completely lost in the matter.
"Drink."
"Drink."
"Drink."
Screw it. I’ll trust the voices this one time if it means I’ll get information.
