The Nameless Extra: I Proofread This World - Chapter 87: Dungeon Trip Preparation (1)
The next day, once his mandatory lectures finally came to an end, Ruvian wasted no time and made his way straight to his next elective class.
Dungeon Field Trip.
For some reason, he felt unusually nervous. Ruvian wasn’t scared of the dungeon field trip. He just felt a slight pressure in his chest when he thought about what was coming next.
And how could he not be?
That elective class was where all the named extras would gather. And naturally, the early antagonist, Julian Rozenberg, would be present as well.
’It’s fine. It’s not like I’m even on his radar yet.’
Ruvian calmed himself.
Arriving at the entrance of the hall, Ruvian pushed the door aside and entered. He was earlier than most, so the room was still mostly empty.
According to the story, this elective class possessed an extraordinary level of popularity within the academy. A tremendous number of scholars eagerly sought to enroll in it, resulting in attendance that far exceeded ordinary classes.
Especially among the upper classes.
Because it was one of the few electives that provided a practical environment where scholars could gain firsthand experience in dungeon expeditions and combat against the Voidspawn for the first year scholars.
Ruvian scanned the hall.
At the back of the highest row, close to the window, he found the individual he had been searching for.
The natural light pouring in from outside gently reflected in her vivid viridian eyes, causing them to shine with an even more enchanting radiance.
Ruvian casually grabbed a seat next to her.
Of course, in doing so, he unintentionally drew unwanted attention. The scholars inside the hall had already started whispering about him.
Something like "why was a mere commoner from Class E dared to sit beside the daughter of the wealthiest merchant house in Averenthia?"
Yeah, that sort of cliche reaction.
"Woah, woah. What is he doing?"
"Why is Lady Silvena letting him sit there?"
"Is he trying to get her attention?"
Ruvian wanted to sigh, but he simply acted as if he heard nothing and ignored them. "So, did you make good use of the information that I’d previously given you?"
Ruvian asked with a teasing smile.
"Of course. Who do you think I am?" Silvena let out a soft, amused hum before replying, her voice sounded strangely warm and confident.
"Your information was correct. There was indeed a gold mine there."
"Good. Did you also manage to acquire those items?"
"You mean... these?"
She slowly opened her palm, and in the next moment, a sapphire heart-shaped necklace and a small amber hue vial materialized upon her hand.
[The Heart of Boundless Sea.]
[Pyrosol]
Ruvian instinctively stretched out his hand to take it. However, just before his fingers could touch the necklace, Silvena gently closed her palm and pulled her hand back.
Raising his gaze, Ruvian met her eyes, only to find her smiling at him in a teasing manner.
"So," she continued calmly, "what do you need this for? You said it will be important for the future. I’m sorry, but since I’m quite curious... I won’t lend this to you so easily unless you tell me the reason first, hehe."
Ruvian did not look flustered.
’Haha, I should’ve expected this from her.’
"Alright. Sure. I can tell you that," he replied. Then his voice lowered slightly. "But are you certain it is fine to speak about it here, where anyone could be listening?"
Silvena paused and glanced around the hall.
Quite a few scholars were staring in their direction. Some were pretending not to look, but it was obvious.
Most of their attention was not even on her, but on the fact that Ruvian was speaking to her so casually.
"Irene," Silvena said softly.
"Understood, Lady Silvena."
A woman seated at the front row suddenly responded.
Ruvian blinked in mild surprise. He had not even realized that Irene had been sitting there the entire time.
’I didn’t even realize she was there.’
A brief silence followed.
Then, from the front row, Irene spoke in her usual calm voice.
"Done. You may speak freely," she said.
"I have casted a [Silencing Barrier] around us. The other scholars will not be able to hear your conversation. However, once the instructor arrives, I will have to dispel the spell."
Such convenience!
Ruvian leaned back against the long wooden bench, resting his shoulders comfortably.
Then, he began to explain.
"Soon, we are going to the Deepmarch Dungeon. It was a dungeon that was formed five months ago and officially discovered three months ago by the Adventuring Guild. The scale is quite large, but it has been categorized as relatively safe. So, it is perfect for our dungeon field trip."
For a moment, everything felt normal. Then, suddenly, the atmosphere around him gradually grew heavier.
Ruvian continued. "However, there is a small issue. That dungeon has a hidden connected passage. It leads to another dungeon of a higher tier."
"Ah, I see..." Silvena hummed thoughtfully.
"But if that is the case, why not report it to the academy? I can assist with that if you wish."
Ruvian shook his head.
"There is no need. Although it carries some danger, it will be a valuable opportunity. That dungeon could help us grow stronger."
Silvena hummed softly in understanding.
"So that is why you needed the necklace," she said. "You want to enhance your Mana Essence during the expedition."
The artifact resting in her palm was not an ordinary one.
The enchantment engraved within [The Heart of Boundless Sea] allowed its user to amplify their Mana Essence to three times their natural capacity for three hours upon its first activation.
However, it was a one-time blessing.
Once used, its power would fade permanently.
Ruvian shook his head once again. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"It won’t be me who uses it."
Silvena’s brows lifted slightly.
"Huh? If it’s not you... then who?"
Almost at that exact moment, the door to the hall slid open.
Ruvian’s lips curved into a knowing smile.
"It will be her."
A scholar stepped inside.
Long white hair cascaded smoothly down her back like a light white scarf. The strands of her hair shimmered softly, pure and luminous, framing a face that appeared flawlessly balanced.
Silvena blinked, genuinely confused this time.
"What? Why would Calyra need that?" she asked, unable to hide her surprise.
Why would someone with such a vast mana reservoir need an artifact like that?
Calyra walked into the hall and took a seat somewhere near the front row. A few heads subtly turned in her direction, but she paid them no mind.
"Huh, I still don’t get it. And what about this [Pyrosol] vial? Are you planning to burn down the whole dungeon or what?"
Silvena lifted the small glass vial between her fingers and examined the amber liquid inside.
"Do you know about it?" Ruvian asked.
Silvena blinked at him.
For a moment her brows drew together, and she placed one hand on her hip as she looked at him with mild offense.
"Erm, yes? Somewhat," she replied, her tone carrying a faint edge as if she felt slightly underestimated.
She lifted the vial a little higher while turning it slowly between her fingers.
"This thing is one of the oldest alchemical liquids ever created. It was widely used during the early wars and in many nest subjugation campaigns."
"Mostly because of this little trick it has."
Silvena tapped lightly on the glass vial with her fingernail.
"Once it is mixed with ordinary water, the liquid multiplies its volume several times over without losing any of its burning properties."
She gave a small shrug as she continued speaking. "That made it extremely useful back then. A single vial could turn into enough incendiary liquid to burn down an entire nest."
Silvena lowered the vial slightly and looked back at Ruvian with a faint smirk.
"So yes, I do know how it works."
"Good."
Ruvian nodded in satisfaction.
But before he could speak further, the sound of the hall doors opening drew his attention.
The quiet shift in the atmosphere made him pause. Several students near the entrance stiffened too.
Ruvian did not need to look twice to recognize who had just entered this time.
’Ah, that bastard is finally here...’
