The Shining Star Above The Heaven
Chapter 1096: Unexpected Person Comes
Aldrian observed Zeskia and could not help but smile. These immortals were truly intelligent, and their minds were sharp, especially this woman named Zeskia. She considered every possible place where the assassin could be hiding and tried to force the assassin out.
’However, too bad for you. I have many ways to make sure you will never find me,’ Aldrian thought.
With his many tricks and his comprehension of various laws and domain abilities, she or anyone else would never discover his presence.
He continued observing the devils as they cultivated until Zeskia finally ordered them to stop.
After that, Zeskia ordered them to continue patrolling and searching for the assassin. They had to move in groups of four. With the help of her group’s sensing abilities, they intended to make sure the assassin would have no room to move.
Zeskia also ordered another group of devils to go to Eric’s house and rummage the entire place. They wanted to see if any clues had been left behind since she believed the assassin had disguised himself as Eric.
Aldrian did not care that they searched the house. They would not find anything there.
Instead, he observed the devils’ activities from a rooftop near the city plaza. For now, he decided to wait.
Killing Ulsin was enough for the moment. It served as his greeting to these immortals.
------------------------
When night came, Aldrian did not target the group from the Center of Heaven. Instead, he hunted the other devils.
He killed another four devils that night. This made Zeskia frustrated because she could not sense or find any trace of him when she tried to pursue him. Even when she managed to sense his presence at the moment he assassinated his victims, it disappeared like a ghost.
She finally experienced it for herself. Tracing him, even immediately after the assassination, was impossible. She could not find anything despite her senses or her comprehension as an immortal.
All her experience in life did not help. She had never encountered a case like this before.
The assassin seemed truly daring and always one step ahead of them, which made capturing him extremely difficult. Even with the formation she had already arranged, the assassin still managed to kill people right under her nose.
Still, Aldrian had to admit that her effort and cleverness deserved recognition. Her patrol formation allowed her to sense him when he assassinated someone. This was the first time anyone had sensed him at the moment he struck, even though she still could not pursue him.
After killing four devils, he did nothing else and simply continued hiding with his concealment technique. With the infinite supply of energy inside his domain, he could maintain the concealment for as long as he wished.
The next day, an interstellar vessel arrived in the city.
It brought Nira.
However, she did not arrive alone. She came together with several other immortals, and one of them was someone Aldrian had never expected to see here.
Aldrian, who observed everything from a distance, felt genuine surprise.
He had not expected one of the overlords to appear here!
Based on the memories of the Vampire King, the one who had arrived was Necromancer King.
This was the first time Aldrian had seen Necromancer King directly. Compared to Ulsin, Necromancer King’s aura as a necromancer was far stronger. From Aldrian’s judgment, his comprehension must also be deeper.
For someone of that level, who should not move easily, to appear here meant that the devils truly did not underestimate the impact of this assassination case.
Five other immortals accompanied him. In addition, ten peak pseudo immortal stage cultivators followed them.
This lineup could not be underestimated. The people gathered here capable of conquering a world on their own.
Aldrian continued observing Necromancer King as he was guided by the temporary city commander toward the city hall.
Necromancer King was led to the place where all the corpses were laid out.
The moment he and the others heard about Ulsin’s death, they were shocked. They had never expected that one of their own, an immortal, could be killed within their own territory. It was truly a slap to their faces.
The Necromancer King’s expression turned ugly when he heard the report. When he looked at Ulsin and the other devils’ corpses, he frowned.
Just as Zeskia had told him, and as the report from Nira that the lingering energy on the corpses’ wounds belonged to the followers of the God Arvegis.
He felt astonished, but also confused. How could this energy appear here?
"There is something wrong. I have never heard that the followers of God Arvegis have descended to the First Heaven. Unless..." Necromancer King said.
"Unless the followers of God Arvegis infiltrated the First Heaven long ago without me or the other overlords knowing."
The other immortals beside him frowned, and some of them showed clear fury.
"As expected, we cannot easily trust those followers of God Arvegis! I already hate them because they always look down on us. If not for the Gods’ Covenant, I would like to shred them to pieces," one of the immortals said.
"With this incident, we can say that they have already broken the covenant. This is a declaration of war," another said, and the others agreed with him.
Necromancer King did not say anything. He also could not explain how the followers of God Arvegis could reach this place and kill the followers of the Devil God.
He put that thought aside for the moment and decided to deal with the matter in front of him first.
He formed several hand signs before placing both palms on the floor.
Suddenly, a large symbol appeared on the ground, spreading out beneath all the corpses. Dark energy exuded from the symbol, and a moment later it was absorbed by the bodies.
The wounds on the corpses began to heal in an instant.
A terrifying aura then surged from the bodies before all of them suddenly opened their eyes.
They sat up and gasped as they looked around.
Ulsin, who was among them, looked disoriented as he narrowed his eyes.
’What happened? I should be dead after that man killed me,’ he thought.
All of the revived devils looked confused before they finally noticed the Necromancer King and the others standing nearby.
Ulsin was truly shocked when he saw the Necromancer King standing right in front of him. However, he soon understood what had happened. He had already died and had been revived using the Necromancer King’s technique.
He was nothing more than an undead.
He sighed.
To think that he had been reduced to an undead when, in the past, he was the one who liked to play with them.
"You might already know this, but I will say it again. All of you are already dead. You were assassinated by someone. I revived you to help with the investigation. With your help, I hope we can catch the assassin," the Necromancer King said.
The revived devils sighed, knowing their fate had already been sealed. However, anger soon appeared on their faces. To think that an assassin had managed to kill them.
What a humiliation.
They had died because of an assassin! 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"What I want from you is to spread across the city and search for the killer," Necromancer King continued. "Because you have become my undead, your senses will be much sharper. As undead, you can also sense something you could not sense before. That is the death karmic connection."
"It is something that appears in a being after death. They will react to the thing that caused their death. For example, if someone dies after falling from a cliff, then if I turn that person into an undead, they will show a reaction when they return to the place where they died."
"If someone is killed by another person, then they will sense the one who killed them if the killer is nearby. The reaction may vary. It could be fury, feeling of vengeance, or others."
"When you spread across the city, focus on your death karmic connection related. Even if the assassin uses an artifact that blocks karma-based tracing methods, you will still sense them. Your reaction will still appear. That is a natural response and not something that can be blocked by an artifact."
The others immediately understood what they needed to do and stood up.
Ulsin, who felt intense fury, could not wait to find the assassin.
"You don’t need to report anything to me. What you see, I will see. What you sense, I will also sense. Now go. Search wherever you think the assassin might be hiding."
After that, all the revived devils left and spread across the city to search for their killer.
Necromancer King then looked at the others who still remained in the hall.
"All of you, follow them. If the assassin is still inside the city, the undead will most likely discover them."
"Yes, my lord," they answered before leaving the hall to follow the undead.
Necromancer King did not follow them. Instead, he sat cross-legged inside the hall and closed his eyes.
He concentrated on the visions of his undead.
Although many visions appeared in his mind at the same time, it did not trouble him. With his powerful soul and strong mind, he could endure watching even hundreds of different views from his undead.
This much was nothing for him.
While he was still focused on the connection with his undead, Aldrian suddenly teleported behind him.
With a quick movement, he thrust his dagger toward Necromancer King’s head.
However, just before the dagger could touch him—
Whoosh!
Dark energy suddenly appeared around Necromancer King, forming a protective barrier that blocked the strike.
The dagger stopped just before reaching his head!
