Unrivaled Soldier in the City
Chapter 511: Wild Rampage
Upon seeing the visitor, Lin Kuang frowned, but his expression quickly smoothed into a faint smile. "Young Master Wang, I wonder what fragrant breeze has blown you here."
The visitor was from the Wang Family, one of the Four Major Families alongside the Lin Family. His name was Wang Yue, a leading figure of his family’s third generation. I have no real history with this man, so why the sudden visit?
"Young Master Lin jests. Upon hearing of your return, I came specifically to meet you. Please don’t mind my abruptness," Wang Yue said with a smile. His tone was calm, suggesting he had indeed come just to see Lin Kuang.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang’s curiosity grew, but his expression remained serene. "It is truly an honor to have Young Master Wang visit in person. If you don’t mind, please come and have a seat."
With that, Lin Kuang stood and gestured for him to approach.
Wang Yue didn’t stand on ceremony. He walked over to Lin Kuang’s side, pulled up a chair, and sat down. Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s confusion deepened.
Although we don’t move in the same circles, we’re both in Yanjing, so I know a little about Wang Yue’s character. The man is fastidious and hides his intentions well, like a dog that bites without ever baring its teeth. In a word, he is deeply cunning. His sudden appearance today is baffling.
"Young Master Lin, to be frank, I came today to discuss something with you," Wang Yue said, looking at Lin Kuang with a very serious expression.
"Young Master Wang, please speak freely," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
Since Wang Yue had taken the initiative to visit, Lin Kuang certainly wasn’t going to be rude. After all, their families minded their own business, and he had no reason to offend the Wang Family.
"If possible, I’d like to speak with you in private," Wang Yue requested earnestly.
"Oh? There are no outsiders here. You can speak freely, Young Master Wang," Lin Kuang said with a smile, indicating his trust in the people present. This was also a test. If it were a minor issue, Wang Yue would speak up. If it were a serious matter, he would remain silent.
As expected, Wang Yue shook his head. "Young Master Lin, this matter is of great importance. We should speak in private."
Lin Kuang feigned a moment of hesitation before nodding and following Wang Yue to his private room. As a member of one of the Four Major Families, Wang Yue naturally had a room reserved for him here.
Watching them leave, Xu Yingying frowned with worry. Wang Yue was known for his deep cunning, and she was afraid Lin Kuang might fall into a trap.
More than half an hour passed, and they still hadn’t emerged, which only deepened Xu Yingying’s concern. After another ten minutes or so, the sounds of a fight suddenly erupted from Wang Yue’s private room.
The next moment, the door was smashed open, and Wang Yue was sent flying out. His clothes were in disarray, his face was pale, and his eyes burned with undisguised, venomous hatred.
"Good, very good! So you’re Lin Kuang! How dare you lay a hand on me!
"You just wait! This isn’t over. In a few months, I’ll see to it that your Lin Family is utterly destroyed!"
With that, Wang Yue turned to leave. As he departed, he shot a final, cold and venomous glare toward Lin Kuang’s private room.
Seeing his gaze, Xu Yingying’s expression changed, and her beautiful eyes fell upon Lin Kuang.
"Kuang, why did you fight him? Are you alright?" she asked, hurrying over with a look of concern.
With a dark expression, Lin Kuang shook his head. "It’s nothing, Yingying. Just a small matter."
Seeing that Lin Kuang was reluctant to elaborate, Xu Yingying didn’t press him further.
Lin Kuang then motioned for everyone to get ready to leave. As for Song Lingping and Su Huachen, they wouldn’t be leaving tonight.
He left the Royal Club with five women: Xu Yingying, Yao Wenwen, Shen Yanyu, Shen Yanxia, and Huo Feifei. Xu Yingying and Yao Wenwen left first, followed by Shen Yanyu and Shen Yanxia. Huo Feifei, however, stayed with Lin Kuang. Having just been reunited with him, she didn’t want to leave so soon.
By now, the color had returned to Lin Kuang’s face. He drove, taking Huo Feifei for a ride and exchanging a few words now and then. The feeling was pleasant.
"Feifei," Lin Kuang murmured as he drove, "this bustling metropolis seems so prosperous on the surface. Why do you think there are so many dirty dealings going on in the shadows?"
Hearing his words, Huo Feifei was slightly taken aback, seemingly surprised by such a question. After a moment of thought, she replied, "Perhaps that’s just the difference between Light and Darkness. Where there is Light, there must be shadows. When the Light fades, Darkness takes its place. They say that wherever there are people, there is conflict and intrigue. That world is a messy, sprawling place." As she spoke, a hint of confusion flickered in her beautiful eyes.
Hearing her words, Lin Kuang suddenly laughed. "You’ve really thought this through, haven’t you?" he said, patting her on the head, which made her blush.
When Lin Kuang withdrew his hand, Huo Feifei, her face still flushed, gathered her courage and hugged his arm, resting her head gently on his shoulder. Lin Kuang stiffened for a moment but, after some thought, didn’t push her away.
With a crimson face and a wildly beating heart, Huo Feifei felt utterly content. She had adored Lin Kuang for so long, and her desires were simple. Just being alone with him like this was enough to make her happy.
Driving with one hand, Lin Kuang glanced in the rearview mirror at Huo Feifei’s shy, pretty face and felt a pang of guilt.
It’s obvious by now how she feels about me, but I really don’t know what to do. Rejecting her would be cruel, but how could I not? I already have several women in my life. If she joined them, would she be okay with that? And would Liu Shilin and the others mind?
The thought gave him a headache. His mind was a complete mess.
Just as he was driving, the roar of an engine erupted from behind them. A Range Rover came speeding up from behind, pushing its engine to the limit. Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s gaze hardened.
The next moment, his car shot forward like an arrow, accelerating at an incredible speed. It was only then that Lin Kuang realized they had unwittingly driven to a suburban road. If not completely deserted, the area was close to it.
Who wants me dead? They don’t seem like assassins. Could it be the Gao Family? Or the Chu Family?
In that same instant, an intense premonition of danger washed over his heart. It was the stench of death.
