Chapter 1039: Final Struggle

Almira was speechless about what was happening. I don’t know what she was thinking but perhaps she was confused about how I can fight back properly. But I don’t have the answer to that for her. After all, I just realized the method to do so recently as well so how can I even explain it to her in a more coherent and easy-to-explain way?

But I don’t care about it right now. First things first, defeat the adversary before me.

Although she lost her arms right now after what I did earlier, there is a huge possibility she will recreate her arm again and make another one. Her power comes from birthing life after all so creating something from scratch is easy for her.

She started to make a barrage of laser lights while also wielding chains similar to Pandora’s [Chains of the Heavens]. Her attacks are fast and are not so easy to predict. It was like she was trying to adapt to my fighting style but because I changed my weapon into a gauntlet, I also changed my fighting style as well so there was no chance for her to predict it immediately as I have a different method of fighting when it comes to gauntlet.

As soon as one of the chains comes close, I let it wrap around the left gauntlet, tying me up from the chain. However, that is my intention. As soon as I can see it is already tight enough, I then proceed to pull the chain as hard as I can, causing her to just realize what she has done. The Goddess of Life tried to pull away but I tightly gripped the chain that was attached to her and pulled her hard enough to make her come close to me.

"You think I was stuck? Ha, yes, totally stuck, not me but you, of course," I then proceed to punch her in the gut.

"GUHAAAK!" she coughed out blood as I punched her with force. I didn’t use my full force though as that would tire me out quickly and there is no guarantee she would just take in and nothing severe happened much.

Before she could recover, I punched her in the face again which caused her to be sent flying in the distance and yet I stopped her from flying too far as I pulled the chain once more. With the force of the pull, I welcomed her with a fist that I immediately used to punch her to the floor.

BOOOM!

The floor cracked and her head was planted deep on the concrete floor, if this floor was ever made of concrete.

Realizing how dangerous I would be when the chains were at my disposal to use, she caused the chains to disappear and she tried to struggle but realized that her hands were missing and she could not escape easily. Stepping on her head that is still deep under. I wanted to end it quickly but before I could do that, her body started to melt and became liquid all of a sudden.

Sensing something wrong, I immediately flew away from her liquid form and changed my gauntlet into a whip. Although I am not too sure what she can do with that form, a liquid is versatile to make a form of any kind. That is not something I want to underestimate.

"So she can take that kind of form?" I frowned.

Almira approached me and was also a bit shocked at what she was seeing.

"It seems that is one of her powers that I didn’t know she could do. Or perhaps that is one of the powers she gained after fusing with Bazel. Either way, that is not a good thing. Be careful, I will give you some buffs while you are at it."

I nodded as I looked at the water form of the Goddess of Life. She stopped talking after she got beaten a lot of times now. It seems she is taking this battle seriously now, instead of looking down on us. It is no longer something that she thinks was some kind of a drag or just not worth her time. She is now considering me and Almira as a threat that is meant to be eliminated.

The water moved and I quickly moved out of my way as it darted to my direction like a water bullet fired from a water gun. It was fast but I managed to evade it. But that was just the beginning. As soon as the water bullet was shot, it floated into the air before expanding in size and becoming thorny with spikes all over that almost pierced me if I hadn’t seen it happen. And thanks to the buffs that Almira has given to me which include the buff to increase my speed, I wouldn’t be able to evade the spikes at all.

With the spikes failing to impale or even injure me, it changed form again but this time, as a guillotine blade that immediately fell above me. If I am one second late, my head and my body will have separated by then.

A whip will not work with this. So instead, I changed the whip into a gun. The Weapon of Envy, its gun form. I don’t want to risk it right now. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

She started to move erratically before returning to her form in a humanoid body. Her parts have returned but she still looked like liquid. It is just a bit uncanny how she looked like she is like a humanoid form of a mercury liquid. She does not retain her face before. She is looking more dangerous as time goes on.

Then, her arms changed to blades. That’s when I started blasting. I didn’t stop and continued to fire away with the gun. Bullets start to penetrate her body and she starts to get filled with holes as she continues to approach.

"This won’t do. THIS WON’T DO! I REFUSE TO DIE HERE!"

Almira who is just supporting me in the background, knew something and started to run towards my direction.

"Manato! The Rhongomyniad! It is time!"

Almira shouted as her sister started to soar into the air. Her body slowly became more dangerous, like a sun slowly expanding, heat increasing and threatening to get really bad.

Realizing this, I changed the Devourer to the Rhongomyniad and before I knew it, the Devourer had changed its form into a majestic spear of torrent light, cascading all over the surface of the spear. It was really chaotic and yet, it felt peaceful all the same. Even though this was harnessed by the Devourer indirectly and is not using the real Rhongomyniad, I can still feel the pressure while holding the weapon.

"Manato, this is it. The final choice. I knew this would be happening but there is no other choice on this one even if I try."

"You mean, killing your sister and stopping all of her madness, right?"

"No. That’s not it. The way we will be doing this."

"What do you mean?"

"As you can see, my sister is currently using all of her remaining power, right? She will be making a pseudo-sun. Something that is very close to the sun’s surface that is causing the morning of the world. However, because this is made from divine power, the heat and danger it possesses are much more dangerous than the real sun. If we let her finish this, then the battle will end in failure and the world will soon die. Not only this world but including yours, causing a mass extinction of all life."

"What? That’s too extreme!" I frowned.

"But that is the truth. I already experienced it after all."

"Experienced?"

"Yes. As you can see, Manato...this isn’t your first time fighting the Goddess of Life nor this is your first time traveling."

"What?"

"As you can see, you have done this a hundred times now. And all of the attempts of the resets are failing."

"Wait...wait...wait... what are you saying..." I was then stopped by Almira.

"This is one of the decisions I made back then. Back when the final battle unfolded. Although the end result was a bit different back then, this was the exact outcome and the final choice that you will need to make."

"Can we afford to talk while this is happening?" I asked as I looked at the steady expansion of what was once the Goddess of Life.

"Yes. She will continue to expand like that for quite a while. However, I will make this matter short and I am sorry for putting this matter on hold even though I want to tell you about this, but the consequences are not good and I can only say this now that you are on the final battle. And yes, this is the final choice that you will be making, Manato. Your last time travel attempts will no longer work and this is the final world."

"Last attempt..." Although I don’t understand what she is trying to say, is this really my hundredth time doing...

Then...some memories started to flow together. Some familiar memories, and some that are not so familiar. I even saw a few scenes...where I am dying and the world has been destroyed. Memories of my past self. Memories of all the things that I have done.

I see. So everything that has been happening was just a loop. And just like the usual...the one who knows the loop cannot say it or else, things will not reach their conclusion. It seems the last timeline where I was saved by Nobuhiko was one of the failed timelines where things went in favor of the Goddess of Life and Nobuhiko but failed after something that I didn’t know causing him to ask for the Goddess of Life to reverse time.

As for the previous loops, it wasn’t the Goddess of Life’s power, but the Goddess of Death. It is also one of the main reasons, why she was so weak and is now recovering. That also explains the box that she holds during the moments she is on the tree.

It was a container that held my memories from previous timelines and she kept it inside. And all the visions and dreams I remembered before with the Goddess of Death...was my past life... that I was just experiencing and I am not literally doing it. No wonder it felt so familiar, the place and everything. I already experienced them and it is no wonder I keep forgetting them whenever I wake up. Those are not dreams, it was the aftermath of the battle and the time when the only ones who were left alive were none other than me and the Goddess of Death.

I see. So this was my true purpose? I didn’t know that. But perhaps, this is my calling. After all, this will only happen if I become the strongest human and if I choose the Versatile Class. It was one of the main triggers to activate this situation.

"Guess I don’t need to explain much what happened then?" Almira seems to have realized it.

"Yes...and I know the reason why..."

Yes. I was the one who wished it. To return to the past to fix the future and the present. However, old memories are not needed prior to these so I have to keep the feeling. It continued on until I wanted to change the world. I want to save everyone. And my mind has never been the same after remembering multiple failed attempts. I saw everyone I loved, burned to death, or die right before my eyes.

Now, the final decision. Is already here.

"Manato...will what will you choose now?"
