Chapter 1040: Last Pain

I held the Rhongomyniad tight. Although it’s not as painful as when I pulled it out back in Agartha, that pain still pricks my hand while I continue to hold the handle. It was like trying to constantly remind me that the power of the Rhongomyniad is not something I can wield easily. I have no qualms about not wielding the Rhongomyniad once and letting it go immediately. After all, even if this weapon is something that is considered one of a kind and the strongest of all the weapons that were made in this world, there is no denying that no one else can hold this weapon by itself aside from the one who is chosen by the sacred spear itself.

But this is just my only way to finish the battle. No other weapons can kill a god as efficiently as the spear that anchors the world. And if it is the only necessary thing to do, then I will gladly use it just to make sure everything in this world returns to the way it was before without being forced to follow the beck and call of someone just for the fun of it.

The Goddess of Life continues to expand. I don’t know how big she will continue to expand but her size is no longer a joke. If what Almira said is true, she will not only kill this world, but she will also bring the damage straight to Earth as well.

"Manato, there is no time. Are you ready?" Almira asked.

"Yes. If this is the only way to do it, we should bring down a god from her foolish assumption that she is the one who will rule the world."

"Finally time, wielder. I grew tired of waiting!" the shadow dragon seemed to be elated.

I raise the Rhongomyniad into the air and slowly charge up the remaining power to fire off its ability, [True Rhongomyniad].

------

[True Rhongomyniad]

Type: ????

Info: An evolution and complete rendition of the skill [Incomplete Rhongomyniad]. Uses the energy of the user to fire off a beam of energy that is so devastating that it can potentially destroy the world if used improperly. A power that humans cannot wield.

-----

Although the description of the skill is something that I cannot wield, due to the effects of the weapon that the Devourer devoured before, I can utilize its power to the full extent. However, I don’t think the severe backlash the power will have on me will be rendered null. I can easily see myself disabled after this or worse, I would die after this. But if this is how it should be, then I will do this.

"Manato. This is not your fight alone. This is also my fight. I know the Rhongomyniad’s power is not something a human should wield. Therefore, I will channel my powers to you and use it to power through the ability and use it as well to make full use of it. Think of it as an energy source you can use to freely use at will. Now, let’s finish this."

She put her hand on my shoulder and I suddenly felt overwhelming power coursing through my body. Despite its overwhelming presence in my body, it is not as chaotic as I thought it would given that Almira is the Goddess of Death. It is a fine power that seems to be caring for me more than the Rhongomyniad’s power is giving me.

"Calm yourself and imagine yourself pouring in the power of mine straight to the Rhongomyniad, much like how you do in mana."

I did what she just said to me and slowly channeled through the powers she was giving me. And I just realized that the power she was transmitting to me is getting sucked into the Rhongomyniad at a fast pace. So fast that it was like it didn’t even last long in my body before it was transferred to the weapon. As the weapon continues to absorb the powers, the stronger the power of the Rhongomyniad’s tip has shown. It is like a whirling tornado of divine power that is ready to rend and decimate all of the things before it. Not only that, it feels to be getting heavy as well.

The two of us are now getting all our powers sucked in by the Rhongomyniad and it feels like it is not stopping anytime soon. But I am not trying to let it stop.

Soon, the power that was coursing through me stopped and Almira was looking pale now. I also stopped transferring the powers as well and I just realized that the Rhongomyniad has now become a lot bigger than it should have been. It is not as big as the Goddess of Life expanding, but it is big enough, that 4 highways would be decimated by it, that’s how big it has become.

"I think it is time, right?"

Almira couldn’t say anything as she was barely keeping herself awake. I just know this is it. I close my eyes and strengthen my resolve. I don’t know what will happen next, I might die firing off this power for being too close to the blast radius. But if it is, then I have no regrets.

It seems that the Goddess of Life sensed that I would be firing it off as well so it tried to attack me with a few chains and plants started to ensnare my body. However, they are not going to stop me from this.

"Time to die, b*tch."

Thrusting the Rhongomyniad into the sky, the power of the skill [True Rhongomyniad] fired off like a laser beam. It was so hot. My arms start to burn as I fire off the skill and all of the protective armor in my arms melted and burned to dust. And the skin in my arms starts to burn as well. However, even with the immense pain I am feeling my entire life, I didn’t let go of my hands. I continue to push all of it through to the point, that this is going to be my final moment.

The power took off and the massive hulking mass that became the Goddess of Life took a large hit as she screamed in pain when it pierced through her body. I couldn’t see it properly due to how bright the skill was after I fired it, but I definitely did hit something.

Then, the power that I fired off finally ended. And the Devourer’s form returned to normal. Back to its normal Rhongomyniad form. And that’s when my vision started to black out. Before I can think of anything else, everything has darkened.

...

...

...

I opened my eyes and I just realized it... I am still alive. I actually didn’t die contrary to the belief that I would die.

"I...I am alive?" I frowned as I sat up. My hands have burned down. But I can still move it. Perhaps, it only burned up but didn’t cause my hands to be an actual burden for once.

I opened my inventory grabbed a Full Restore Splash Potion and slathered its contents to my hands which soon healed up my wounds. It seems I can still heal them despite them being caused by the Rhongomyniad.

As I stood up, I realized Almira was sitting not too far from me. In her arms is the body of someone. I can’t see it properly but I already know who it was. I looked around and saw the Devourer beside me. Grabbing it caused the Shadow Dragon to speak to me.

"Whew, looks like you are alive, wielder. How are you? Did the last pain finally fade after firing off that blast?"

"Yeah. My arms are healed up too. And here I thought all of my hands would turn to dust after the battle due to how hot it was. Turns out, I won’t be dying that fast, hahaha," I laughed a bit showing relief that I was still alive. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"It’s good though. Since everything is finally done. We have finally defeated the Goddess of Life and it seems the world will finally be free from the grasp of the Goddess of Life’s reign."

"Is Almira holding the body of her sister now?"

"Yeah. She is mourning her. Even though we killed her, Almira still treats her as her sister. After all, Almira wanted to at least bring peace which was denied by the Goddess of Life herself. If the Goddess of Life was persuaded, perhaps, things would have gone better than they should have been."

I glanced at Almira and I could see her sad face. She is not crying but it seems she is pained that everything happened due to how stubborn her sister was. I slowly approached her. As I got closer, she spoke to me without turning around to look at me.

"Thanks, Manato, for putting my sister to rest. For stopping her plans to claim the world as hers."

"Nah...without you, I wouldn’t have been able to fire off the Rhongomyniad in the slightest. This is still something that you influence which resulted in this matter."

Almira chuckles. "You are right. And thanks to that, I also reclaimed my power back from my sister as well. I never expected to reclaim my power as the Goddess of Life once again after all these years of accepting myself as the Goddess of Death."

I blanked out for a second after hearing it then looked at Almira with a surprised look.

"Haha, did that surprise you? Yeah, perhaps since I didn’t say anything about it. But yes, I am indeed the original Goddess of Life. But because of my sister’s tantrums who was the Goddess of Death back then decided to demand that we swap our abilities and swap what we both rule. I accepted her demands and she became the Goddess of Life while I became the Goddess of Death. Didn’t think that I would wield its power once more like this though."

"Wait, wait. So that means, you were originally the Goddess of Life? The one described in the books and ancient tomes as the kind Goddess?" I frowned.

"Is that how I was described on the tomes? Haha, how embarrassing. But I guess that is how it was back then. After all, some people didn’t know about the switch of powers. Many knew about it, but some who supported my sister decided to label me as the bad one, which is why no one had any idea about the switch. And I also stopped those who knew about it to not say anything regarding that matter so that my sister would not be angry."

No wonder the discrepancy between the behavior of the Goddess of Life and the ones in the tomes seems very different. Because the original wasn’t even holding the power of life anymore and just got swapped by the one who held the power of death before.

"So, are you going to just wield both powers now?" I asked.

"I have no choice about it, do I? With my sister dead, all I can do is govern both of these powers together and let them blend once more. Considering that I know how to use these powers now, I am the one who still fits the bill of the one who will keep using these powers now," Almira opened her palm and a plant sprouted from it.

She looked at me and smiled. "Thank you for everything. You can now go back to your real world. I will be fixing this matter now that I have a better grasp of my power-...wait... what?" Almira was about to say her gratitude to me and it seemed she was about to send me back but she was taken aback as she stared into the sky.

I looked up as well and soon realized what she was looking at.

"No way...the Old Deus are descending?!"

What we are seeing are numerous beings descending from the sky. And based on what Almira just said, these people she called Old Deus... are the gods that once roamed the world who ascended to the higher realms.
