Chapter 24: Decision

The two characters who just entered right now were none other than Elena and her assistant Sophie.

They saw me when my face was just a little far from Viora’s. So, I could probably tell what their first thought would be.

Elena’s expression was still composed but the twitch in her brows gave away her confusion. On the other hand, the girl at the side behind her had more expressive features. Her mouth was a bit gaped and her eyes were wide.

But one thing was the same between them and it was that they were both frozen in their spots and weren’t even saying anything.

I saw an opportunity in it and with my weak legs I crawled back to my bed and collapsed on it. Then, I closed my eyes.

As soon as I did that Elena took her first step and walked toward me with quick pace.

’Please, don’t... Don’t ask.’

"Woo Jin, what were you doing on that girl’s bed?" She asked with an authoritative voice. By the sound of it, she seemed to know me well. Not just as a patient but something else.

However, whatever it is, I don’t think I should answer that. Not like I have any answer to it anyway.

I will just keep my eyes closed and see what will happen. Maybe they will leave thinking they were seeing things?

For a moment, there was silence. I thought my plan was working but no. It wasn’t. Not even a bit.

Soon, the silence began to feel wierd. Then unexpectedly, I felt extreme pain at my ear and my eyes shot open. Elena was pulling my ear with her hand. To be honest, I felt like she is trying to rip it off.

"Urrrgg," I let out a pained groan as she dragged my body up from the bed.

"I think after the accident in the Gate you have got some screw loose in your brain. How dare you try to do something to a helpless girl?"

I grasped Elena’s hand and attempted to break free from her grip but that was just impossible. She was too strong. I couldn’t even budge her.

"Is this what I have taught you? Haven’t I told you to respect women properly?"

Taught me? Why is she talking like she is the one who raised me? Am I her son? But she looks too young for that.

"Let go," I glared at her and tried to look straight into her eyes.

.

.

.

"You dare?"

She just spoke two words only and those were enough for me to realize that it was a mistake I can’t afford. I slowly moved my gaze away from her and looked at the ground.

Then, she also let go of my ear and waved her hand at Sophie. "Take care of the discharging process."

"Alright," Sophie bowed just a little and went out of the room, leaving me with this terrible S-Class Healer.

Once we were alone, Elena gestured something with her head. I don’t know what that meant but to me it looked like she wanted me to move aside.

So, I did.

I moved and she just sat beside me. Then, there was a moment of silence between us again until she spoke up.

"So," she began, "Why were you on top of her? Don’t tell me you’ve already fallen for a girl in a hospital room."

Unlike before, she was so calm right now that it felt like she was a completely different person.

"Yeah, maybe, kinda?" I also gave her a vague answer and glanced at her to look for something dangerous underneath but she seemed genuine.

"Sorry, for earlier. But as your aunt I have some duties to teach you important life lessons. And as Association’s Director I also had to act like that in front of my assistant."

Aunt?

So, I am her nephew. But there was no mention of her being an aunt in the story.

"Still, don’t ever try to do something bad to a helpless woman. Do you understand?"

"It really isn’t what you think." I scratched the back of my head and tried to clarify but she just stood up abruptly and walked toward the door and stopped before opening it.

"What are you doing there? Come, we are going home." She said and waited for me.

I glanced over at Viora, then at her and then back at Viora. Suddenly, an idea came to my my mind. But, for that I have to make a decision right now.

"I will follow right after you." I said and Elena left the room.

For a few seconds I kept my gaze fixed on Viora’s sleeping form.

This is the right choice. If Elena is my aunt and she is also a director at the Hunter Association, then I can just go with her and maybe I will somehow get to enter some kind of dungeon and when I have enough mana I will come back for Viora.

Even though she would be alone for a few days. I hope she won’t feel lonely. I have no other choice. If I deny Elena and say I don’t want to go. I think she will just force me to leave.

So why not go willingly and gather mana and come back, then take Viora with me?

Fortunately, the system didn’t react, meaning physical distance wasn’t the problem. But leaving her like this feels wrong.

However, it is something I had to do sooner or later. Even though my heart hurts at the thought of leaving her alone like this I still have to go.

I stood up and then walked to the door.

’I will be back, Viora.’

Those were my thoughts but I couldn’t even take a step out of the door. I just stayed there for like a minute and kept thinking about what would happen to Viora in those days I am not here?

Will she still be smiling when she wakes up and find that I am not here anymore? The pain in my heart was clearly telling me not to leave. But the logic in my mind was forcing me to go.

’Wait,’ I subconsciously took a step back and a bead of sweat materialized at my forhead. ’What if Jane comes here when I am not around?’

My presence may not make any difference but I still want to be with Viora even when facing someone like that Jane.

Think, Woo Jin. What should you do now? Should I just stay here and wait for the history to repeat it self or should I go and get ready for reverting the fate?

’I guess I just need to come here daily to check on Viora.’

I walked back to Viora and glanced down at her. She hadn’t moved even a bit and her eyes were still closed.

’Yeah, I am going away to keep this calmness safe.’

I bented down and pinched her cheek slightly before going out. But, unknown to me Viora had long woken up. She had heard all the conversation between me and Elena.

"Wu... Jun..."
