10x Cashback: Your Wealth Is Mine-Chapter 79 Putting Out The Fire
79 Putting Out The Fire
How do you fight a stronger opponent?
Some will say huddle down and wait for the right moment. Others will say offense is the best defense. Personally, I love the self destructive approach.
Putting everything on the line with no intentions of backing down even if it causes you harm. And today, I'll begin my plan of putting everything on the line.
Yes. I'd waited for the next day to allow the news to saturate everywhere. Now, Sunset Inn's imminent demise was a common headline. We'd trended on all social media sites and now, it was time to turn the story around.
I adjusted my suit and walked into the hotel's conference hall.
The room was packed with journalists from major business publications, business bloggers and even a few livestreamers who filled the rows of seats.
The cameras flashed and the journalists typed into their laptops, waiting for the juicy details from the horse's mouth.
I stepped up to the podium, assumed my place. Behind me on the large screen, was the logo of Sunset Inn on a white background. I looked around. Sophie had done a great job filling the room. It was time to deliver.
I smiled confidently at them. "Thank you all for coming." I nodded graciously.
"I understand there have been concerns raised recently about the financial health and viability of the Sunset Inn project. Today, I'm here to put those concerns to rest."
I gestured to the screen and the first slide appeared.
A Summary of Audited Financial Statements.
"These are Sunset Inn's financial statements, independently audited by one of the most reputable firms in the country." The screen displayed clear, professional charts with bold labels.
Revenue Streams, Current Assets and Projected Growth.
"As you can see, we are financially stable, with over two hundred million dollars already secured for the project. Our capital is allocated efficiently and we are well within budget."
The next slide appeared on the screen.
A Timeline of Project Milestones Achieved to Date.
The most uptodat𝓮 n𝒐vels are published on freёnovelkiss.com.
"Here is a timeline of our progress so far." I continued. The slide listed completed achievements. Land acquisition, architectural plans and initial construction. Each milestone was highlighted with dates and photographic evidence.
"We are ahead of schedule in some areas and exactly where we need to be in others. Claims of delays and mismanagement are, quite frankly, baseless."
I moved on to the next slide.
"This chart shows our capital allocation and expenditure breakdown. Note the efficiency in managing construction costs and operational expenses. These are the hallmarks of a project built for success, not collapse."
I smiled at my audience as murmurs filled the room. This was certainly not what they'd been expecting.
It was time to deliver the coup de grace.
I nodded to the technician at the back, and the slide changed, this time to WireFrame's analysis.
"Now, let's address the elephant in the room." I said and the room instantly quietened. "The origin and dissemination of these false claims."
The image on the screen was a network diagram with different nodes and arrows that began moving in reverse until it stopped at a single source.
"Our partners at WireFrame Solutions conducted a detailed analysis, tracking the flow of information across various platforms. This is the result."
I clicked to the next slide, which zoomed in on the one node.
Maria Clemens.
Her name was boldly displayed, along with screenshots of the falsified documents she had distributed.
"The person responsible for fabricating and distributing these documents is Maria Clemens, a journalist I'm sure is well known for her sensationalism." I said before pausing, allowing the information to sink in.
The journalists began typing furiously in their laptops. If their pace was glacial before, now, it was like the world was ending. They could sense where this was going.
The next slide was the killer blow. The screen displayed Maria's interaction with an anonymous individual.
I paused, saying nothing as the noise in the conference room increased.
"As you can see, this was a targeted attack by a few people with vested interests in seeing Sunset Inn fall." I said.
"It is indeed unfortunate when competition stoops to spreading misinformation. But we've traced these falsehoods to their origin and will be pursuing the appropriate legal avenues."
I smiled at them.Let them speculate and connect the dots themselves. They were not the one that statement was meant for but two people.
Wang Tae Bin to show him that I know exactly what he did and Justin Kale to tell him exactly where this attack came from. This was my declaration of war. My way of telling all participants that I am here.
"This incident highlights the importance of maintaining integrity in business." I continued the press conference. "Sunset Inn remains committed to excellence and we will not be derailed by baseless attacks. I thank you all for giving me the opportunity to set the record straight."
The room erupted into applause. Cameras flashed as reporters shouted questions but I simply stepped back from the podium, a confident smile on my face.
With a nod, I left the room.
"How's public opinion?" I asked Sophie as I walked to my car. I had things to do.
"You were right, sir." She said, her heels clicking on the floor as she followed me. "The conspiracy theorists are jumping on the threads, some pointing fingers at the government."
"Good." I said. "Monitor the situation and if need be, steer the narrative in the right direction. Understood?"
"Yes, sir."
I gave her a final nod before hopping into my car. Before I left, there was one last thing to do.
I brought out my phone and found the contact. Charlie Harper.
The reporter from Business Bi-Weekly had been relentless during our last interview, prying into my past. She had been digging specifically for a story.
"Let's give her one." I muttered to myself, dialing her number.
"Charlie Harper." She answered on the third ring.
"Nico Voss." I said into the phone.
"Well, this is a surprise." I could hear the interest in her voice."To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Let's just say I have a little… exclusive for you."
