10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System-Chapter 280: Human Self
Michael’s words still weighed on Aegon’s mind, but he decided to set them aside for now and simply enjoy the party. It was his day, so he ought to do that.
Still, he had a few plans for going about that.
Looking around, he thought, ’Rosa would be in the limelight if she was here.’
None of them had forgotten about her. They missed her and wanted her to be here, but they knew nothing could be done. She was heavily restricted in Sylvanna and getting out of there wouldn’t be easy.
’Even if it was, she wouldn’t escape. She did say there was something important to do. That’s why she visited a land where humans are forbidden.’
Whatever the case was, her presence was missed here. Although his friends had spent a short time with her, she had surprisingly assimilated with their group.
’Or maybe it is not that surprising.’
She wasn’t the only one missing from this party. Elara’s parents were also absent. Aurelia and Theon were among the most important people in his life even before he and Elara got into a relationship.
So he wanted them here to celebrate his greatest success.
Sadly, they couldn’t leave their homeland, especially since Rosa was there. And Aurelia didn’t trust the elves with her, so she had to protect her.
Aside from them, he also missed Baelish and Sansa, the King and Queen of Moonrise Kingdom and also the parents of his other three friends.
They were an integral part of his childhood, so he also wanted them to share his happiness. Unfortunately, as royalty they had lots of responsibilities.
They were incredibly busy.
’Especially after the rise of Terris farming. The kingdom’s economy has skyrocketed, but that also means they have more work to do. I guess the blame is on me.’
He couldn’t help but sigh.
"Where are you lost, baby?"
He felt someone hugging his arm and leaning against his shoulder, making him relax since he recognized the person even without hearing their voice.
"Nothing much. I was just thinking about what to do after this," he answered. "Obviously, I don’t need to handle the matter with Mana Batteries, but I would like to see through the initial phases. And there’s more to do."
"Relax your mind for one day." Xiu patted his head and said cheerfully. "Today is just for happiness and celebration."
"Oh, someone’s really happy," Aegon smiled. "Looks like the reunion went well."
"Much more than just well," Xiu tiptoed and kissed his cheek. "My baby is the best. Do you know how happy my heart feels after seeing him?"
"Let me guess, are you talking about the First Prince?" Aegon teased her.
"I see you’re getting really bold, but I’ll forgive you just because of how happy you’ve made me today," Xiu said, a slight crack appearing in her smile.
"So normally you’ll punish me?" Aegon’s face dropped dramatically.
"Don’t play this with me, young man." Xiu slapped his shoulder lightly and said. "And don’t bring up the name of that panoti."
Aegon was speechless. He was really impressed at how she learned different languages just to insult others. Fortunately, his system gave him a skill to understand all languages.
Panoti came from the Alethi language. It was spoken in Alethkar, the easternmost nation bordering the Nightmare Desert. Its translation referred to someone who brought bad luck to others, an ill-omened person.
A jinx.
’Is this the humanity you were talking about, Mike?’ he wondered. ’Calling the prince that in front of everyone. I expected nothing less from her.’
"I was talking about my brother," Xiu’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. "At first I was quite nervous and a little afraid too. But then I thought he’s my brother, so what was there to be scared about? At most he’ll just be a madman, and no one can surpass your Xiu in that."
"I didn’t think that’s something to be proud of," Aegon said, taking her hand as he walked toward a table. "Also, are you drunk? Really? You of all people?"
"A little bit," Xiu grinned. "The motivational talk didn’t work, so I had to use this."
"So alcohol can work on you. Noted," Aegon said as they took seats at an empty table after a maid cleaned it up, though he knew it had been clean anyway.
"Yes! But I’m not going to tell you which one!" Xiu said, leaning against him. "It’s a secret only three people know. Me, my brother, and the panoti. Damn that bastard."
"Language, Xiu," Aegon warned her.
"Drunk Xiu doesn’t care about language," Xiu smiled foolishly. "And I speak only truth. Drunk Xiu does not know lies."
"You just did. Call him anything, the worst possible things, but don’t include me in it."
Aegon looked over and found Samuel shouting at them, which gathered quite a bit of attention, but the old man didn’t care. He was simply annoyed at her wording.
Just as Xiu was about to jump up and reply, Aegon grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back down into the chair.
"Alright now, calm down. The old man has gone senile."
"Really? You’re going to take her side?"
"Did you think otherwise?" Liliana asked, sitting not far away.
"I guess not."
"Old man, stop spying on us," Aegon shouted back at him. "Amon is being a bad influence on you."
"Hey! Why am I catching strays?" Amon threw his hands up. "I didn’t even do anything this time. That man was born creepy. His wife left him after discovering him creeping around a bathhouse."
"Is that why you never married?" Xiu asked while standing up, though she wobbled slightly. "Oh right. All women stay ten kilometres away from you because of your kinks and the creepy nature of your powers."
"Alas, that is the fate of someone with glorious purposes. They spend a lifetime in loneliness..."
"Shut up!" Samuel threw a cup at him, which shattered right on his face, but all the broken fragments simply got assimilated into his monocle.
Aegon facepalmed, wondering if these people were really among the most powerful and influential figures on the entire Triana continent. They seemed to have a great lack of braincells when they were around each other.
He leaned back, considering Michael’s words about their behavior.
’Humanity, huh. They want to remain as their human selves.’
