Chapter 248: She’s My Woman

Lily Anderson stared speechlessly at the man before her. She couldn’t see any resemblance between Ethan Blackwood and this person. How could they possibly be brothers?

"But how did you..." He suddenly let go of the seductive woman by his side and leaned his mixed-race face closer to hers.

Lily took a step back, watching him warily.

"What’s wrong with your eyes? A rabbit’s?"

He exaggeratedly expressed shock, then dramatically shook his head, his tone dripping with mock pity. "Girls with red eyes aren’t pretty. Has my younger brother been bullying you? How about being with me instead? I’m much more fun than he is."

"..." Lily stared at him, unimpressed, and asked flatly, "What’s your name?"

He froze for a moment, and then his expression turned deeply wounded. No words could have hurt him more than that question.

In disbelief, he exclaimed in English, "You forgot my name? How is that possible?! Isn’t this one of those girl’s tricks to—"

"To what?" He stumbled over his words, unable to finish the thought. The woman beside him leaned in and whispered something into his ear.

Who had time to play games with him?

Faced with someone like this, Lily could feel a headache coming on. "You’re overconfident."

He stepped forward, bent at the waist, and used his ring-adorned finger to lift Lily’s chin. His gaze was electrifying, and he deliberately made his voice sound sensual. "Tommy Blackwood. Call me Tommy."

Tommy Blackwood.

The name jogged her memory.

Lily pushed his hand away, stepped aside, and gestured toward the door. "Why are you here?"

Tommy wasn’t the least bit offended by her reaction. He casually wrapped an arm around the woman beside him and swaggered into the house. "Father sent me to sort out my younger brother’s mess."

So, did Ethan’s father send his second brother to help resolve the situation?

"It took this long?" Lily asked, surprised. From Europe to here, he should have arrived much sooner.

"No, I got here the next day..." Tommy shrugged, then tilted the seductive woman’s chin toward him, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "But, you know, Asia women are so different from the ones abroad. So, I—" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

The implication was clear.

He had come here and immediately indulged in his playboy tendencies.

Now Lily finally understood why Ethan’s father’s envoy had been delayed for so long.

"Second, Young Master," Nanny approached and bowed respectfully to Tommy.

Tommy immediately let out a playful whistle and walked over to embrace her. "Nanny, you’re as beautiful as ever."

"Second Young Master..." Nanny’s face turned beet red.

This Tommy Blackwood...

Lily gently pulled Nanny behind her and whispered, "Find a way to contact Ethan. Get him to come back."

"Yes, Miss Anderson."

Tommy’s purpose for coming was, of course, to take Ethan back to Europe.

He didn’t treat himself like a guest at all. With the woman still in his arms, he strolled through the house, opening doors randomly and commenting on everything he saw. "Not bad. My younger brother knows how to live."

Lily watched him and nearly walked out in frustration. But she forced herself to maintain a polite facade. "Would you like to rest?"

"Rest?" Tommy turned to her, his eyes gleaming with a suggestive light. "What kind of rest? Single? Double? Or... more than three?"

Tommy’s taste was far more outrageous than Ethan’s. Was this kind of behavior genetic?!

"Do whatever you want," Lily said, deciding that if she stayed in his company longer, her ears might never recover. She walked into the bathroom to wash up.

When Lily came out, she assumed Tommy would be in one of the guest rooms with his seductive companion.

But instead, she found him on the sofa, flirting with the woman while watching television. Her first instinct was to turn and walk the other way.

"Beautiful lady, come watch your lover on TV!" Tommy said, pausing his kisses to call out to her. Then, looking puzzled, he asked, "What’s your name again? Did you tell me before?"

Lily ignored him and turned to leave. Unbothered by her coldness, Tommy continued with his lively chatter. "If you don’t tell me, I’ll call you ’Rabbit’ from now on! Red-eyed Rabbit! Easy to remember, right?"

Tommy Blackwood even had a habit of giving people nicknames.

"Hey, Rabbit! Your lover is on a talk show! Aren’t you going to watch?" Tommy called out again, his excitement palpable.

He said it so naturally.

Lily had no intention of paying attention to him, but then she realized what he’d said. Lover? Ethan? Why would Ethan be on TV? He would never expose himself to the media, let alone appear on a talk show.

Just as she was about to leave, the voice of the female host reached her ears from the television. "Blackwood Enterprise is an international corporation, but recently, B.E. has faced significant domestic challenges, with widespread negative press leaving people unsure of the truth. Today, the President of B.E. Asia-Pacific, Mr. Ethan Blackwood, will address and clarify these rumors."

Was Ethan really on a talk show?! How could this be possible?

Lily’s eyes widened in shock. She turned around and walked to the back of the sofa, where she saw Ethan on the country’s top live talk show. His face was cold and indifferent as he sat across from the host.

The female host seemed nervous, her smile strained. Even her questions were asked cautiously. "It’s widely known that you’ve always maintained a low profile with the media, Mr. Blackwood. Why did you accept this invitation and appear in public this time?"

Ethan shot her a cold glance, then turned to face the camera. "I’m here today to clarify one thing."

He completely ignored the host’s question.

"Please go ahead, Mr. Blackwood," the host said, clearly intimidated by his presence, her tone filled with apprehension.

"She’s my girlfriend, not a mistress," Ethan said, enunciating every word through gritted teeth. His eyes, dark as ink, held a simmering anger.

Lily froze on the spot.

She stared at the TV, utterly stunned.

He had never exposed himself to the media, yet now, for her, he had gone on the country’s highest-rated talk show to set the record straight.

"Regarding the magazines and newspapers that published false reports, I will pursue accountability to the fullest extent," Ethan said coldly, glaring at the camera. "Anyone with information on the source of these rumors is encouraged to contact B.E.’s public relations department. A generous reward will be offered."

The host, clearly struggling to maintain her composure, pressed on. "Mr. Blackwood, how can you prove that she is your girlfriend? Many of the reports describe events where, at a certain banquet, your girlfriend supposedly dropped a ’mistress manual.’ It’s said that the high society circles know her status as your mistress."

Ethan’s cold gaze turned to the host, his eyes glinting with a murderous intensity. The host’s face turned pale, her voice trembling as she stammered, "Could you please... talk about her? About your... girlfriend?"

"Hahaha..." Still lounging on the sofa, Tommy burst into laughter, nearly choking. "Is my younger brother here to kill people or give an interview? This is too funny."

"..." Lily shot him a withering look.

On the screen, Ethan lowered his gaze slightly. After a long pause, he finally spoke. "She’s the first woman I’ve ever loved, and she’ll be the only one. She’s not my mistress; she’s my girlfriend. I can’t live without her."

I can’t live without her...

Lily covered her mouth, afraid she might start crying again.

The seductive woman on the sofa exclaimed excitedly, "Mr. Blackwood is so handsome and romantic!"

"Am I not handsome?" Tommy asked, annoyed that both women’s attention was on the TV. He grabbed the woman’s face and kissed her passionately, dragging out the moment with a long, theatrical kiss.

"Would you go on a talk show for me?" the woman asked softly.

"..." Tommy immediately pushed her away, adjusting his white shirt. "Be good. It’s time for you to go home. I’ll call you next time."

"Tommy..."

"Bye-bye..." Tommy waved her off dismissively. The woman leaned in to peck him on the lips before leaving with a flirtatious, "Call me when you’re free."

"Okay."

Lily glanced at them coldly, watching as the woman left willingly.

For the first time, she thought... Ethan had truly changed. He had done so much for her.

She had just been scolding him for running around while still recovering, but he had gone on a talk show to defend her.

He had publicly acknowledged their relationship, admitted he couldn’t live without her...

This wasn’t something the old Ethan Blackwood would ever have done.

Due to Ethan’s uncooperative demeanor, the country’s top-rated talk show ended abruptly. Tommy suddenly straightened on the sofa, his curious gaze landing on Lily. "Rabbit, how’d you manage to tame my younger brother? Was it your baby?"

"Excuse me."

Lily’s tone was icily indifferent as she turned to leave. But Tommy blocked her path before she could take more than two steps. His broad chest was still partially exposed, and his expression had shifted from playful to unusually serious. "Rabbit, do you know why Father sent me here this time?"

"What is it?" Lily asked, following his lead.

"It’s to make you leave Ethan."

Tommy shrugged with a roguish smile, his tone both flippant and sharp. "Father usually doesn’t care about our romantic escapades. But seeing how serious Ethan is about you... it’s no wonder Father wants you gone."

"..." Lily remained silent, recalling the video call with Ethan’s father. She didn’t know what to say.

"The three brothers don’t get to decide our marriages. Did you know that?" Tommy said, a rare hint of bitterness flashing in his carefree eyes. "No one can go against Father’s will."

Seeing the helplessness in his expression, Lily couldn’t help but say, "You’re not his tools."

They were his sons, not insignificant objects. Why did they have to live in such fear of their father?

She couldn’t understand. Ethan feared nothing, and Tommy played by no rules... yet their father utterly suppressed them, unable to rebel.

"Tools?" Tommy shoved his hands into his pockets and shrugged. "That’s a pretty accurate description."

Lily didn’t know how to respond to his reaction.

"Rabbit, you’d better leave on your own. Name your price. Staying will only lead you to a dead end," Tommy said, his roguish demeanor contrasting sharply with his profound words.

"And if I insist on staying?" Lily asked.

Tommy glanced at her slightly rounded belly, letting out a sly laugh. "Then the child will be your lifeline. You’ll be as good as dead the moment they’re born."

"Kill me?"

"Yes," Tommy said without hesitation, smiling as he added, "A smart woman would know what to choose."

"..." Lily replied coldly, "I’m not smart."

She was already infected with AuroraVirus. Without an antidote, she would endure ten years of suffering. Whether she died sooner or later didn’t make much difference to her.
