365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 149: Coco Calls Crystal Sutton’s Child Brother
Could this child be a descendant of someone from the Forrest Family? In this generation of the Forrest Family, aside from Jenson Forrest, it couldn’t possibly be Fifth Brother Winston Forrest. The eldest, Florian Forrest, and the second eldest, Vaughn Forrest, are both children of Jenson’s second uncle; they’re already married and have had children for years. The fourth, Vincent Thorne, is Sienna Forrest’s biological brother, and both are from the fourth branch of the family, but Vincent isn’t particularly close with Jenson. If the child belonged to any of them, Jenson would have no reason to meddle, let alone go to such great lengths to hide it...
At that moment, the elevator doors opened.
Zinnia Lawrence decided not to dwell on it. She didn’t want to share the same space with Crystal Sutton for a second longer, so she stepped out of the elevator to leave.
But from behind her, Crystal Sutton suddenly spoke again. "Weren’t you going abroad, Sister? If I’m not mistaken, Jenson must have found out you were pregnant and dragged you back, right? He actually really likes children. My baby isn’t even born yet, and Jenson already bought him the naming rights to an asteroid as a gift. I wonder what surprise Jenson has prepared for the one in your belly?"
"Oh my, Crystal’s baby is Young Master Forrest’s, so of course he’s good to her for the baby’s sake," Rose Lowell chuckled. "But according to Miss Lawrence, Crystal’s baby isn’t even Young Master Forrest’s. So why would he still treat our Crystal so well? It must be that he can’t get over his old flame."
Crystal’s words were a clear jab: Jenson Forrest didn’t love Zinnia, he only brought her back because he found out she was pregnant. And Zinnia certainly hadn’t forgotten about Jenson buying the asteroid naming rights for Crystal. It was like a thorn lodged in her heart, impossible to remove. Rose Lowell’s words were even more humiliating.
But Zinnia refused to let them see her as a laughingstock. She stepped completely out of the elevator before turning back to face Crystal.
"The way you’re jumping around, talking to yourself... that jealous expression is more entertaining than a monkey’s performance. Thanks for working so hard, by the way. Unfortunately, I don’t have my purse today, so I can’t give you a tip. I’ll get you next time."
With that, she flashed a light, brilliant smile, waved, and turned to walk away.
Crystal Sutton’s clenched hands began to tremble uncontrollably. She stared at Zinnia’s back, her eyes filled with malice.
"Bitch! She’s a fake heiress, and I’m supposed to be jealous of her? Ridiculous! All she knows is how to use pregnancy to keep a man! No wonder she dared to demand a divorce from Jenson. She’s carrying that bastard in her belly like it’s some kind of trump card, betting that he would have to keep her for its sake. Playing hard to get, putting on an act... what a brilliant scheme!"
She would absolutely not let Zinnia get everything so easily!
The moment Zinnia turned away, however, the smile on her face vanished completely.
She had to admit, Crystal Sutton knew exactly how to get under her skin. Even though Zinnia knew her true nature and that her words couldn’t be trusted, a fire still ignited in her heart.
It was so intense that when she pushed open the door to Jenson Forrest’s hospital room, a frosty expression had settled on her face.
When Jenson saw her return, a faint smile appeared on his handsome face, and he reached a hand out to her. "Why were you gone so long?"
Zinnia walked over, but instead of taking his hand, she raised her own and slapped it sharply into his palm. "Jenson Forrest, you have to give me a straight answer today. What is going on with the child in Crystal Sutton’s belly? If you don’t, I’m taking Coco and running far, far away!"
As Zinnia spoke, her eyes began to sting with unshed tears. She planted her hands on her hips, looking like a little cat trying to appear intimidating, its back arched.
Jenson was slightly surprised. He reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her to the bedside, holding her as he asked, "Did you run into someone? What happened?"
Zinnia glared at him. "Don’t change the subject!"
Jenson’s thin lips pressed together. "You’ll find out about this eventually."
Seeing him still avoiding the topic, Zinnia felt an endless wave of disappointment. Thinking of the smug, confident look on Crystal’s face just moments ago, she stared at him and forced a smile. "So, after Coco is born, will they have to call that child in Crystal Sutton’s belly ’big brother’?"
Jenson clearly didn’t notice the murderous intent hidden within her smile. Holding her waist, he seemed to see no problem with the idea and nodded slightly. "Yes, that child will be a bit older than Coco. If it’s a boy, they should indeed call him big brother. If the two of them grow up together like brothers, they won’t be lonely."
Zinnia’s heart went cold. Coco would have to call that child ’big brother’ and they’d have to get along like siblings. Didn’t that mean Crystal Sutton, the child’s mother, would be a constant presence in her life? If her child was lonely and needed siblings, she could have a second or even a third. Why on earth would she need Crystal Sutton to give Coco a brother? The thought alone was nauseating!
Zinnia let out a cold laugh, her voice chilling over. "What if I say I’m not willing? I don’t like Crystal Sutton, and I certainly won’t like her child."
Jenson’s brow furrowed, and his voice deepened. "Crystal Sutton is Crystal Sutton, and a child is a child. Zinnia, no one is asking you to like Crystal Sutton. But surely you’re not so petty you can’t even tolerate a child?"
He was angry. Just a moment ago, she was his Seventh, his little fool. Now that the topic of Crystal Sutton had come up, she was just ’Zinnia’ again. So, not being able to accept Crystal Sutton’s child meant she was narrow-minded?
Zinnia reached out, trying to pry Jenson’s arms from her waist as she struggled. "That’s right, I *am* petty! I’m selfish and narrow-minded and can’t tolerate people! It’s not like you only just met me..."
"Don’t be unreasonable... Hiss!"
In her struggle to pull away, her fist accidentally slammed into Jenson’s side. The man suddenly let out a pained groan.
Zinnia froze. Seeing his handsome face turn pale and a thin layer of cold sweat form on his forehead, she couldn’t suppress a surge of worry and distress, even through her anger. She remembered that he was only injured because of her.
She barely managed to swallow her fury and sense of grievance. Helping him lie back down on the bed, she said flatly, "You should rest. I’ll take your scan results to the doctor and have them come check on you."
Continuing this topic would only lead to an endless argument. Zinnia didn’t give him another chance to speak, turning and walking out quickly.
As the sharp, tearing pain subsided, Jenson watched her leave, his brow furrowed.
After leaving the room, Zinnia headed straight for the doctor’s office.
At the corner of the hallway, Rose Lowell watched Zinnia close the doctor’s office door before she made her way to the nurse’s station. After a bit of snooping, she hurried upstairs and into Crystal Sutton’s hospital room.
"What’s going on? Why is Zinnia Lawrence at the hospital?" Crystal asked impatiently. She had thought it was strange when she saw Zinnia head toward the surgical ward earlier, so she had left Rose behind to investigate.
"Young Master Forrest was injured! He was stabbed! He was in surgery last night. When they brought him in, he was covered in blood. A nurse said he lost a lot!"
Crystal shot up from the bed in shock. "How is that possible? Jenson hasn’t left Veridia recently. Who in Veridia could possibly hurt him?"
"I slipped a nurse some money. She quietly told me that when the police came to take a statement this morning, she overheard them mention something about Kane Donovan seeking revenge. I think it’s connected to his mother, Claire Cohen." Rose’s expression was grim, a hint of panic in her eyes. "Crystal, this thing has gotten so big. If Young Master Forrest investigates the Kane Donovan incident further and finds out we were involved, what will we do...?"
Fear crept into Rose’s voice. For a moment, Crystal’s expression also flashed with panic. She clutched the bedsheet and gritted her teeth. "No way. They didn’t trace it back to us when it first happened, so it’s even more unlikely now. That man with the surname Tian... give him another sum of money and tell him to stay in the countryside for another year or so. He absolutely cannot come back to Veridia!"
Back then, Rose Lowell had directed a middle-aged man surnamed Tian to spread indecent rumors about Zinnia at the Mermaid Restaurant. This baited the waitress Una Tate, who was jealous of Zinnia. Una Tate then relayed those stories to Kane Donovan. That was what induced Kane Donovan to try and assault Zinnia. After the incident, Rose had given the man a sum of money to flee the city and lay low.
Crystal never expected the matter wasn’t over. Now, Jenson was also injured because of it. Of course, she was terrified that her role as the mastermind would be discovered.
"Okay, I understand," Rose Lowell nodded.
After a moment of thought, Crystal Sutton picked up her phone and made a call to Katherine Rhodes.
Jenson was injured because of Zinnia. She couldn’t possibly let Katherine Rhodes miss out on such good news.
