365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 153: Clearing Up the Misunderstanding
The intense and domineering kiss, with a hint of punishment, made Zinnia’s heart tremble and her legs go weak. She unconsciously sat on the man’s lap as his kiss grew deeper and deeper.
Until the man released her, gasping, and said helplessly, "You hurt me."
Zinnia, "..."
She bowed her head and just realized that she unconsciously reached out her hand to grab the man’s waist and abdomen, accidentally touching his wound.
She immediately released the hospital gown clutched in her hand, glaring at Jenson with a mix of bravado and timidity.
"You deserved it. You didn’t explain anything. Who told you to suddenly kiss me?"
Jenson chuckled, raising Zinnia’s chin.
"Staying by my side means you’re asking for trouble?"
Zinnia pursed her rosy lips, "Who told you to hide everything from me!"
Her voice was soft, carrying grievances and petulance, with a hint of willfulness.
Like a hook, it tugged at Jenson’s heart, making it itch and soften.
He pinched her chin, "I’m telling you now, that Crystal and I were never together, and as for the child in her belly, you’ll find out in some time."
Zinnia pursed her lips, but he was unwilling to say any more, leaving her no choice.
She pouted, but Jenson lowered his head and kissed her once more.
And just then, the door to the hospital room swung open unexpectedly.
"Jenson, Grandma heard about Zinnia..."
At the doorway stood Old Madam Forrest, followed by Katherine Rhodes and two servants, all frozen in their tracks, eyes wide with shock.
The scene was eerily familiar.
In the same place, in the same way, mortified twice in one day—Zinnia never expected this.
Zinnia’s face blushed instantly, feeling like she could combust right on the spot.
However, Old Madam Forrest’s reaction was evidently different from that of the previously discreet Timothy and the doctor.
Zinnia hadn’t even managed to react when the old lady, waving her cane furiously, charged in.
The petite old lady was full of anger, "I knew you wouldn’t do the right thing, you scoundrel! How could you force Zinnia?
Did you drag her back from the airport? Do you still want to force her to have your child, imprison her, use the child to tie her down?
Get away from me, how did the Forrest Family raise such a dog of a thing like you!"
The old lady raised her cane and struck Jenson’s back, then grabbed him by the collar to pull him away.
Jenson felt helpless, worried that in her advanced age she might strain her back, so he cooperated by getting up from Zinnia and said resignedly.
"Grandma, I didn’t."
Zinnia, blushing, bashfully sat up alongside him.
In her heart, she thought, if you bypass the surface and look at the essence of it, Grandma seems to have guessed right all along.
It’s just that she was too weak-willed, falling for his tricks to be coaxed back here.
"Mom! Jenson is injured, how can you still hit him?"
Katherine hurried forward, grabbing the still furious Old Madam Forrest.
She had clearly angered Jenson at the hospital door, which resulted in him shutting her out.
Knowing she’d get no pleasant words from Jenson if she barged into the room, she notified Old Madam Forrest about the situation instead.
Given her grandson was injured because of Zinnia, Katherine expected the old lady to at least reprimand Zinnia a bit.
The best outcome would be to send Zinnia abroad immediately so there’d be no further twists in the divorce proceedings.
But who could have predicted that Old Madam Forrest’s heart would completely side with Zinnia, an outsider?
She didn’t scold Zinnia at all; instead, she berated and lashed out at Jenson.
"He’s a grown man; he couldn’t protect his own wife. So what if he’s a bit hurt afterward?
Alright, you see he’s none the worse for wear, still brazenly bullying Zinnia regardless of the setting. What’s there to worry about?"
Old Madam Forrest pursed her lips, looked discontentedly at Katherine, and said.
Zinnia’s blushing face became even more flushed from the old lady’s blunt words.
Hurriedly sitting up from the hospital bed, she fiddled with her hair, head lowered.
In her movements, she turned to glare at Jenson, signaling the man to say something to ease the awkwardness.
Yet Jenson raised an eyebrow slightly, agreeing with the old lady.
"Grandma’s right. Failing to protect my wife—this cut is a lesson I deserve."
As he finished speaking, Zinnia felt Katherine’s shock so intense it left her speechless, leaving Zinnia even more unsure of what to say.
At this moment, Jenson continued, "Grandma, this isn’t the time to discuss that. There’s a piece of good news I want to share with you and Mom."
Zinnia vaguely realized what Jenson intended to say, but she wasn’t ready for the pregnancy to be publicly revealed yet.
After all, just before the old lady and the others arrived, Zinnia hadn’t fully resolved to stay.
A slight panic arose in her, prompting her to lift her gaze quickly towards Jenson.
The man was looking right at her, Zinnia caught a glimpse of his deep smiling eyes, and he reached out to hold her right hand.
His large palm was so broad and warm, full of security, just like when she was a child, as long as her brother held her hand, no hardship seemed terrifying.
In that instant, the panic and uncertainty in Zinnia’s heart calmed down.
Her small face broke into a smile as she gave the man a slight nod.
"What good news? Go on, tell us."
Watching Zinnia and Jenson holding hands and exchanging smiles, Old Madam Forrest became thoughtful, urging impatiently.
Katherine, however, frowned, wondering what good news could be announced now?
No need to guess, they surely don’t want a divorce anymore.
Katherine only felt a headache coming on, immediately interrupting, "Mom, let’s first check Jenson’s injury, the rest..."
Katherine’s words were cut short as Old Madam Forrest banged the cane against the floor in annoyance.
"The man’s sitting right here, anyone with eyes can see he’s fine. Are you just itching to make trouble if you don’t annoy someone once in a while?"
Old Madam Forrest left Katherine without a shred of dignity, making Katherine’s face turn blue. She turned to Jenson for help, seeking a way out.
However, Jenson didn’t look at her but instead turned his head to smile gently at Zinnia.
Old Madam Forrest, smilingly, also looked at Zinnia, "Zinnia, you can tell Grandma..."
They were all in harmony, leaving Katherine on the sidelines.
Katherine didn’t want to hear any news that they weren’t divorcing; she turned around, ready to leave in frustration.
Just then, Jenson’s voice, rarely tinged with visible joy, resonated behind her.
"Grandma, she’s shy, so I’ll say it. Zinnia is pregnant; the baby is already over three months old. Grandma, I’m going to be a dad, and you’re going to be a great-grandmother."
Old Madam Forrest, upon seeing the expressions of the young couple before, already thought it was more than just an annulment of the divorce.
She hadn’t expected that Zinnia was indeed pregnant.
The old lady froze for a moment, then was overwhelmed with happiness. She couldn’t bear to look at Jenson with his expression ready to proclaim to the world that he was going to be a father.
Old Madam Forrest got up from her chair, shoving Jenson aside with her hips, sitting next to Zinnia, then took Zinnia’s small hand from Jenson’s palm, gripping it tightly, and asked.
"Zinnia, is this true?"
