Chapter 168: Chapter ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-EIGHT: Fighting For Control.

"Hey,are you okay?"Nathan walked into the kitchen, as Hazel turned her face to her sides to wipe the tears off her face.

She didn’t even know what prompted her crying,it’s not as if Sophia was dead, even if she was dead, she’s sure it wasn’t going to affect her much because of their relationship.

So why crying?

Today had made her feel moody, which she could tell was as a result of what happened to Zaiden.

He’s not been picking his calls, even when his mother had assured her before leaving with his dad that he would be home soon.

Yet,she couldn’t help it but got worried, this was unlike him to act this way towards her.

He knew how worried she would be after what transpired this morning, but he’s not in the least worried to pick up her calls, or atleast send a message to calm down her nerves.

Tons of thoughts as to what exactly, and where exactly he could be at this time crossed her mind, which she couldn’t help but think of the negative aspects.

Was he with Anna?

Hazel knew getting suspicious of him,and questioning the trust she had in him was wrong,he had done a whole lot to assure her that he’d gotten over her.

So, there’s absolutely no way he was guilty of what he was accused of,this was just a coincidence that he was caught up in whatever it was that was going on with the model.

Looking back at Sophia, who had a somewhat look on her face that made her feel uneasy.

She was back to being such a freak, that sometimes she just didn’t understand what it is about her and her son that makes her feel unsafe whenever she’s with them.

"Mom,are you okay?’’Nathan moved along to help his mother stand up from where she was seated on the floor like Hazel.

While standing up,his eyes caught a glimpse of the knife his mother had hidden at her sides, which made his eyes widen when he understood what the hell is going on here.

Looking back at Hazel swiftly to check if she was okay, she too had already stood up from the ground, and was rubbing her arms in a soothing way as if she was cold.

She was crying.

Nathan noticed.

Why?

He had a lot of questions to ask,a whole lot when his eyes fell on his mother’s medication that was kept on the table besides Hazel.

"Then,I will get going, take care of yourself"She said, showing her respect to the lady before she turned to leave, but her arm was grabbed by Nathan who prevented her from leaving.

"You don’t look good" He said, watching the dull look in her eyes,he needed to know what exactly transpired between her and his mother.

His mother was holding a knife which he knew was intended to be used on her,and again, her medication was right in front of them.

Hazel saw it.

But he could bet,she was too dumb to notice what exactly the medication was,he needs to know what exactly was running through her mind right now.

Was she pretending that she didn’t know what it was all about?

"I’m..fin..’’Hazel removed his hands from her body with a distasteful look on her face which got Nathan frowning.

Until when would she reject his touch?

"Hazel.."

"Nathan, the young lady says she has to go,"Sophia interfered, when she saw that her son was not going to let Hazel go without any explanation on what happened.

Since he wants an explanation, she’s going to let him know that she had also been bewitched by Hazel’s kindness, and forgotten about what she truly intended to do to her.

Her patience was running low,and Hazel still near her wasn’t helping matters at all,not when she’s still trying to get a hold of herself and figure out exactly if she has not gone crazy by allowing Hazel to go scot free.

"Goodnight"She whispered to Nathan, avoiding eye contact with him because it wasn’t necessary.

Nathan was not Zaiden, and there’s nothing that could have that, even if he’s using sideways just to be on her good side.

The hunch was still there that he had feelings for her,and maybe taking Zaiden’s instructions on avoiding him was a better idea.

She still needed to think.

Her mind was still fuzzy with what she saw in his mother’s room. She could have asked what was wrong with her but Sophia was not the conversing type.

She was still surprised that someone who she loathed would think of saving her,but that was to show her the big difference between them both.

She had nothing against her,and was not in any competition which one could point to as the reason for the grudge between them.

Sophia was just acting childish for no good reason, but after what she saw today, she knew that something didn’t sit right with her.

She had to find out on her own,Sophia was acting suspicious, and she couldn’t help but get anxious to know what exactly was going on with her.

Turning to his mother after Hazel was out of the picture,he heard a sigh escape her lips when she dropped the knife on the counter with her back facing Nathan.

"Mom,are you okay?"Nathan asked concerned, when he saw the way she clutched the edge of the counter tightly.

She was not okay.

Nathan knew that, and felt his heart skip when the thought of her losing control again crossed his mind.

"I don’t know Nathan, something’s wrong with me,that bitch has done something to my mind and i don’t like it one bit!"She yelled, turning to face Nathan who was still standing in the same position, but this time she noticed the difference in his composure.

That look.

Does he think she was trying to spare Hazel?

No,that’s not going to happen,Hazel was supposed to be long gone tonight, only because she did something she didn’t expect, which caught her off guard, and made her lose concentration.

That’s all.

She can never stoop so low, to behave like Nathan who worships everything about her, which is the reason she has to go.

Everything has been normal, her life, her family, until she came, triggering the bad side of her.

Does it not cross their mind that Hazel was the one who made her change?

They couldn’t see the truth right in front of them, rather they accepted her into the family with warm hands.

.

It was tiring that she had only Avery to take care of,but now,she had an extra problem.

An extra problem which was much more bigger than Avery, because it was not only threatening her existence in this household, but it had gone along to steal her family away from her.

Hazel stole her son away from her.

Which was what she had to remember and hold onto that tightly if she truly wanted to kill her, because looking into her innocent face would make one lose concentration, which was not going to happen again.

Taking her medication that was on the table, she walked away from him because it’s of no use telling him what was happening to her.

He’s on Hazel’s side, and would only derive joy in what she was saying, if she told him what exactly happened moments ago.

Storming into her room in hope of Elijah being there,he had to get back from work, she needed his warmth to keep her mind off what happened.

He was the only one who’s on her side at the moment, and she prays it remains that way.she can’t lose both father and son to that girl.

Walking in,she saw him taking off his clothes and rushed up to hug his back, inhaling his scent which always seems to calm her nerves when she’s confused.

"Hey.."Elijah called, releasing her hand around him as he turned to see her crying, and that made him mad.

"Treasure, what’s wrong?’’He asked, cleaning her teary face with his hands while picking her temple to look into her eyes to notice something.

Her eye colour had changed, this wasn’t Sophia.

"It hurts,I need to feed,"she said, closing the space between them to kiss him, distracting him from taking caution because this wasn’t Sophia that was with him.

He didn’t know what exactly happened to her,but one thing is for sure he’s definitely not going to sleep a wink tonight,he can’t risk her going to feed just like she said on anyone.

He had a lot on his hands, and taking care of Sophia’s mess was not on his agenda at the moment. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Make me forget, please", Sophia cried against his lips,as he scooped her up to wrap her legs around him, while he moved to take his bath along with her.

Whatever it was that was happening to her,he knew that she was fighting for control, because if she needed to feed she would have done that long ago without telling him.

This was a sign.

She was fighting against what was inside her,but maybe it was too late for her redemption.

Too late.
