Chapter 12: Broken

My eyes started to slowly open only to be met with a very bright light. I had no idea where I currently was or what had happened to me.

I tried to move my head around to see what kind of room I was in, but nothing really caught my eyes because it really was a simple room.

I was laying on a bed with windows to my right showing the clear blue sky, the rest of the room had nothing in it besides a door in the left corner. The door was also made out of pure wood with no glass inside of it meaning I can't see out, but the ones outside can't see in.

I finally removed the blanket that was on top of my body to see that I was wearing some weird long dress. The worst part was I had no underwear on, so I felt repulsed.

I tried to get up off the bed slowly without making any noise. Although my body didn't want to move, I forced myself too anyway.

My feet touched the cold marble floor then I proceeded to get on one knee and put my palm on the floor. I wanted to send a mana pulse to get a better idea of what kind of building I was in.

'What the?? How come I can't use my mana in here?' I thought to myself because I've never ran into this type of problem before.

"Knock Knock"

The sound of knocking could be heard, my eyes darted to the door to already see it being opened by a man with a doctor's coat on.

I wasted no time and released every single ounce of bloodlust I had, as well as making sure my mana and Ki weren't hidden. The reason for doing this is because if he's an enemy a fight will be engaged since I'm a threat who's extremely close to him.

Instead of trying to attack me though the man simply raised both of his hands and stated in a smooth voice. "It's okay Azrail no one here is trying to hurt you; I am a doctor here at this hospital who was tasked to take care of you."

I took in his words and started to remember what happened to me before getting knocked out.

'It seems like those guys really did rescue me; I need to give them a proper thanks for what they have done.' I thought to myself while still staring at the doctor.

"Here why don't you and I go for a little walk outside to have a chat, after all it probably has been a while since you have seen such greenery." The doctor said causing me to be confused.

The doctor seeing this gave me the answer I was looking for. "You are currently in Volestia Azrail. Your surgery was done in Maru then you were transferred back to here when so that you could have an easier recovery session and feel safer."

"How long was I out for."

"You were out for about two weeks; it took you about three days to come here after the surgery. We did not want you to stay in that country any longer since you've been there far too long and treating you medically would be a lot harder since you aren't the only one in bad shape."

"Where is the squad that saved me."

"They are still located in Maru saving more of our soldiers lives."

This was a lot of information to take in, but I was able to finally have some sense of relief. I hated that country with a passion with what is has turned me into, so I was happy to be back home.

It was sad though hearing that I couldn't give those guys a thank you, but I'm sure I'll see them again.

I decided to let go of my bloodlust and have my aura go back to its calm state. This made the doctor also take a breather out of relief.

I finally got up and asked the man a very important question.

"Give me clothes." Which came out to be more of a order because I noticed some wind hitting my butt cheeks meaning my backside was exposed.

"Of course, I'll be right back then."

....

After about 15 minutes I changed into simple black shorts that went above my kneecaps and a white long sleeve shirt. I don't know they managed to pick out my favorite clothes to wear, but I didn't care because I was in a great mood.

The doctor and I have been walking at the back of the hospital which had a very big garden. There were flowers and beautifully trimmed bushes seen everywhere. The air I was breathing in was also clean, which was something I had forgotten about.

I could truly say at this exact moment I was happy, but I knew that life wasn't simply over. I needed to deal with all this trauma that was going to come eventually. I also did not have a real goal in life besides just trying to survive the brutal war against Maru and the organizations behind it.

"You will be staying at this hospital to recover for about a week, after that we will send you home where your mother is waiting." The doctor said which made me stop moving completely.

"My mother huh..."

"Yes, she has been informed about your arrival. She did want to come and visit you, but we denied it considering we did not know what your mental state would be like after everything you've been through."

"What would you say my mental state is?"

The doctor thought for a moment as I was just staring at him, waiting for his answer because I was wondering what professionals in the medical field thought.

"Broken....." The doctor said with a deep voiced filled with sorrow. 𝙛𝙧𝓮𝓮𝙬𝓮𝒃𝒏𝓸𝒗𝓮𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝓶

I did not react to him calling me broken because he was actually correct. My entire face and body is littered with awful scars caused by others and myself....

I knew I was outside of being normal for a long time, then being trained to become not only a killing machine but also for espionage did not help my case at all.

I was simply someone who had gotten very unlucky many times, although all of these situations have made me stronger as a warrior, they did not help me grow as a person which mattered the most....
