A Dragon against the Whole World-Chapter 114 - 113: Life-and-Death Battle
The scorching sun hung high above the wilderness, casting light and heat upon the earth.
After sleeping a full ten days, the Red Iron Dragon slowly opened its eyes, revealing a pair of black-pupiled eyes, then shook its body, scattering the dust that had settled on it over the days.
"All the wounds on my body have healed."
Galos turned his head to examine his body.
The previously shocking scars had mostly healed, with the new skin becoming more resilient and the scale armor slightly harder than before.
Sleep after intense battle.
Most stimulating for the growth and development of the Dragon Race.
"No, it’s not quite fully recovered yet."
Galos lifted a claw to touch his head, finding that his broken dragon horn hadn’t fully regrown.
"The Dragon Qi hasn’t awakened."
Carefully feeling the magic energy flowing within his body, the Red Iron Dragon gently shook his head but wasn’t disheartened.
"The battle with the Diamond Giant was something I did after careful preparation and planning."
"Although the process had its ups and downs and certain risks, I was always in control, with no fatal danger, not quite a life-and-death struggle."
Not awakening early is normal, no need to feel disappointed about it.
A life-and-death battle is the most crucial condition for premature awakening of Dragon Qi.
According to the legacy, only by disregarding life and death, fully exhausting one’s magic and life energy, is there an opportunity for the magic and life energy to be sublimated at the brink of life and death, blending into Dragon Qi.
"Find a powerful target for a life-and-death battle?"
"For instance, storm the oil fields where the Black Rock Dwarves are stationed."
"With my talent, I can definitely awaken Dragon Qi at the critical moment, then win the battle, grow stronger, defeat all those foolish enough to challenge me, and ascend to the throne of the wilderness!"
Galos found his thoughts hard to contain.
He squinted slightly, stopped the thought, then took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
After repeating the deep breath several times, he gradually suppressed his restless arrogance, his mind returning to calm rationality.
Having solved a powerful enemy like the Diamond Giant, Galos became keenly aware of his arrogance.
Every time Galos had a significant evolutionary breakthrough or defeated a strong enemy.
The arrogance and conceit of the Dragon Bloodline, especially in the Red Dragon Bloodline, would grow savagely, becoming more vigorous.
Evil Dragons, due to their promiscuity, actually have quite a number of offspring, but most fail to grow up and die prematurely, with less than one-tenth surviving to adulthood.
The period with the highest death rate is, in fact, not the juvenile period, but rather the adolescence.
At this time, Evil Dragons, with their rapidly increasing strength and newfound dominion over their own territory, become incredibly arrogant, thinking themselves invincible, and then die from arrogance and conceit.
However, Galos’ mental resolve also strengthens, keeping these within controllable range.
He soon suppresses the negative emotions.
"Reckless life-and-death battle is too risky."
"Unless forced into a corner with no other choice, only having an Ogre chew your brain would make you willingly do that."
"Diligently train and accumulate, hone the body." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"With my level of training, there’s a good chance I can awaken Dragon Qi before adulthood, just can’t now."
Galos calculated in his mind.
Feeling his body more carefully.
Under his scale armor, in the flesh, the tingling like electric shocks became more pronounced.
Galos flexed his muscles, attempting to capture the tiny currents, trying to control them.
Crackle, crackle.
Some electric arcs leapt from the gaps of his scale armor.
Wavering and flickering.
Especially concentrated around the spine and neck.
At first glance, it seemed like a mane woven of lightning.
The only downside was that the quantity was too sparse, and Galos didn’t feel any significant effects.
The evolution related to lightning was ongoing, not knowing exactly when it would complete, but he estimated it wouldn’t take too long and could likely complete when officially becoming a juvenile dragon.
During this period.
He needs to do more targeted adaptive training.
A sudden hunger stirred from within, ten days of fasting having left Galos’ body in dire need of replenishment.
At times like this, if nothing else is around, a young dragon would resort to eating dirt to quench hunger.
Galos had no need for that.
He had something better.
He picked up a canister of black oil stored in the cave beside him, taking a sip, allowing the hearty, fiery energy of the black oil to fill his body, momentarily dispelling hunger, then crawled out of the cave.
The vibrant, blazing sunlight filled his vision.
Temperatures above forty degrees roasted the earth, forcing many creatures to seek shade, but to Galos it felt just right, lifting his head to gaze directly at the sun, like a massive ball of fire.
"Galos, Galos."
"You’re awake!"
Elf Dragon Vera flapped her butterfly-like wings, flying over to block Galos’ view.
Her body was a purplish-red with bluish iridescence, but under the bright sun, she refracted dazzling colorful spots, almost like a flash spell, causing Galos to squint his eyes half-shut.
This Elf Dragon clutched something in her claws, offering it to Galos’ nose with a presenting gesture.
"Smell it, I found something great! It’ll perk you up."
She said enthusiastically.
Galos sniffed.
The intense musk scent immediately filled his nostrils.
But the scent was secondary.
It felt like invisible little fingers were tickling his nasal cavity, making his nose twitch, and he couldn’t help but tilt his head back and sneeze hugely, spewing dense sparks from his nostrils.
Elf Dragon had anticipated this, dodging to the side preemptively, a mischievous smile curling at the corner of her mouth as her prank succeeded.
What she didn’t foresee was.
Galos sneezed several more times in a row, each time aimed at her, with sparks raining onto the Elf Dragon’s petite form like a downpour, making her scream as she dodged, ultimately ending up looking charred and smoky.
She wasn’t injured, though.
Though small in size, she was still part of the Dragon Race, and the sparks from Galos’ nostrils had little lethality.
"Quite unsightly."
Galos touched his nose, commenting on the Elf Dragon’s current appearance.
"You did that on purpose."
The Elf Dragon huffed, the smile vanishing from her face.
"Of course."
The Elf Dragon’s smile transferred to Galos’ face, nodding naturally in acknowledgment, simultaneously twitching his nose again and tilting his head slightly, making a gesture as if about to sneeze, frightening the Elf Dragon into escaping quickly.
Galos’ life centered around survival and growth.
Apart from when sleeping, his mind typically stayed focused, rarely relaxing, occasionally teasing the innocent, playful Elf Dragon, or insightfully guiding Samantha on the nature of an Evil Dragon, serving as his form of leisurely entertainment.
