Chapter 39: Chapter 39: In Team Fights, Kill the Backline First

Samantha’s roar echoed through the Iron Pine Hills, shaking dust from the rock walls.

Numerous poisoned crossbow arrows, including the first one at the joint of its right wing, were embedded in its body. The blue venom spread, combined with the curse technique of necromancy, causing weakness, numbness, and sluggishness to constantly emerge.

The alchemy workshop had long become a ruin.

Boiling black oil spilled on the ground, turning the sand and rocks into glass-like charred shells. The trunks of the iron pine were covered with claw marks, their bark scorched into charred shadows by the residual flames of dragon breath.

Samantha’s tail swept across the rock terrace, sending rubble shooting like shrapnel, clattering against the warrior’s armor.

The necromancer’s skeleton ghost fire attacked again, this time aiming for Samantha’s eyes.

Samantha turned her head to dodge, only to be charged at by the blond warrior, who took the chance to strike the old wound on its forelimb with the door-plate greatsword. Dragon blood splashed out, glowing a vivid red under the moonlight.

"You despicable insects!"

Samantha shouted.

The intense pain instead ignited the ferocity in the red dragon’s bloodline. Samantha suddenly reared up, leaping several meters high with a powerful spring off her hind legs, slamming her full weight towards the blond warrior.

Sadly, her movements were neither standard nor swift enough.

The force was not even a tenth of Galos’s.

The blond warrior easily rolled aside, avoiding Samantha’s rush.

This mistake cost Samantha dearly.

The caster dropped a binding spell, stamping it on Samantha’s back.

It felt as if a mountain had suddenly been placed on her back, her claws sinking deep into the rock layers, struggling to support her body.

A hook lock whistled through the air, its tip lodging between Samantha’s Dragon Scales, the other end wrapped by a wanderer around the thick trunk of an iron pine.

Holy Punishment!

The white-robed priest raised and then lowered his hand, unleashing a thunderous divine energy that struck Samantha, tearing her skin, causing smoke to rise with the smell of burning flesh.

This type of divine attribute attack inflicts double damage to an evil dragon.

Samantha gritted her teeth in pain, her body trembling violently.

The adventurers’ attacks were like a relentless storm, wave after wave, leaving the Red Young Dragon unable to fend them off.

The blond warrior raised his heavy sword high, the runes on the blade shining brightly, slashing at Samantha’s hind leg.

This fierce strike was not aimed at Samantha’s neck or other vital parts, and previous attacks by the adventurers also rarely targeted life-threatening areas. The reason was simple, they wanted to capture the Red Young Dragon alive.

A living young dragon.

Worth several times more than a dead one.

Thinking of the immense fortune to come, smiles unconsciously spread on the five’s faces.

However.

Just as the sword blade was about to fall, the sky suddenly darkened.

It wasn’t clouds covering the moon, but some creature obscuring the starlight, casting a shadow on the ground, enveloping the battling dragon and adventurers.

Samantha’s tense dragon face suddenly relaxed, smiling.

"You vile insects, now you all must die."

She said.

The tense expression transferred to the adventurers’ faces, and their smiles froze and vanished at once.

Everyone heard that sound.

——Like a thunderstorm rolling across the ground, or like steel being forcibly torn apart.

It was the explosive roar of dragon wings tearing through the air, Galos’ swift dive creating a turbulence as his wing membranes sliced through the air like feathers, a highly oppressive declaration of death.

"A dragon, there’s another dragon! Everyone be careful! Haven, quickly use the Anti-Air Spell!"

The blond warrior shouted, lifting his head to meet the Red Iron Young Dragon’s eyes, darker than the night, as a strong wind blew his hair into disarray.

The caster skillfully constructed the Anti-Air Spell.

This spell directly locks onto the target, guaranteed to hit, unable to be resisted by the young dragon’s magic resistance. Once the magic energy on its wings is dispelled, its flight will be severely affected, losing balance.

Just like how they dealt with Samantha before. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The complex stroke spell appeared directly on Galos’ wings.

However, to the adventurers’ surprise, the young dragon, whose body was enormously strong, seemed completely unaffected. Its gigantic, disproportionately large Dragon Wings flew with unmatched agility, rapidly approaching.

The black-red dragon shadow skimmed past the treetop, instantly snapping dense branches, leaves whirling wildly.

No time to think why this was happening.

Facing the dragon plummeting like a meteor, the blond warrior, as before, quickly rolled aside from the spot, dodging its aerial attack.

The black-red dragon shadow meanwhile tilted its right wing, showcasing unparalleled agility.

It didn’t pursue the blond warrior but instead swiftly arrived overhead the caster.

The shadow engulfed his body.

The caster’s heart tightened, nearly forgetting to breathe under the immense pressure.

At the critical moment, the necklace around his neck suddenly lit up, activating a protective spell.

Shield Technique!

A semi-transparent yellow shield enveloped the caster, protecting him inside.

Crash! Accompanied by a sound like muffled thunder, the shield shattered like an eggshell under Galos’ claws. The caster, full of despair, saw his vision entirely filled by the dragon claw, leaving no room.

The ground shook violently, dust surged upwards and dispersed with the shock wave, debris shooting in all directions.

When the dust, scattered by the dragon wings, cleared, it revealed a sunken pit.

Galos shook his body, shedding debris and dust as he leaped out of the pit.

The body embedded in the cracks at the bottom, decaying to the point of being indistinguishable in gender or race, merged with the soil.

Only at this point.

Seeing the Red Iron Young Dragon, its scale armor like iron casting, the attacked few finally snapped back to full awareness, their nerves taut.

This young dragon’s attack had come too swiftly and explosively, completely beyond their expectations, taking out their team’s caster in an instant.

And now, thinking about it.

Its initial attack targeting the warrior was actually only a feint. Its goal was crystal clear, directly locking onto the team’s caster core, catching him off guard, killing him in one strike.

In terms of frontal combat, the caster wasn’t as effective as the blond warrior.

But he was more important and crucial, and Samantha’s frustration was mostly because of him.

On the other side, the ineffective-rolling blond warrior stood up, his expression deeply grave.

He slightly lifted his head, taking a deep breath, and the magic energy stone embedded in the heart of his armor shone, with all surrounding runes lighting up.

The blond warrior gained greater power, speed, reflexes, and defense.

The cost, however, was the consumption of a precious magic energy stone.

"Evil dragon, prepare to die!"

The blond warrior shouted in fury, hefting the door-plate greatsword, charging towards Galos.

Galos braced his four limbs, grinning at the blond warrior, then leapt aside, dodging an alchemy crossbow arrow, before pouncing towards the white-robed priest.

In a battle.

First kill the mages, then the healers.

This brave warrior, let him live a bit longer, save him for the last.
