A Dragon against the Whole World-Chapter 98: Out of Control, an Unexpected Gain
Under a night sky as dark as black velvet, Galos spiraled rapidly in the air.
Unable to hold back, he gulped down almost an entire bucket of black oil.
The thick energy from the black oil surged through Galos’ veins, making his Dragon Blood boil like magma, and his heart pump like an accelerating engine, giving him an overwhelming urge to release it.
He simply channeled the energy into his wings.
The dark red flames at the tips of his wing bones swelled threefold, leaving a dazzling trail in the night sky, and Galos felt like he became a real meteor, breaking through his usual speed limits, and still accelerating.
When the sonic boom clouds exploded behind him, Galos realized something was wrong.
The speed now was a bit out of his control.
He didn’t have his explosive scales right now, yet the second layer of steel-forged Dragon Scales also gradually turned a hot red under such extreme speed.
The clouds were torn open into a long tunnel.
The mountains twisted into vague patches of color in Galos’s vision.
He intended to dive down and then swiftly ascend, but as the altitude lowered, the flight posture, once as easy to control as an arm, gradually began to slip out of control. He tried adjusting the wing angles but found that at such high speeds, his body’s responses lagged.
Even though the turbulent flames had stopped surging behind the Dragon Wings,
the speed brought by inertia still exceeded control.
"Wait... can’t ascend!"
Galos’ Dragon Eyes contracted.
A grayish-white cliff filled his entire view.
Unable to avoid it, Galos reflexively curled his body, wrapping his strong wings around his vital areas.
The moment the mountain was touched, it erupted into blinding orange-red flames, and the shock wave snapped trees within a hundred meters at their waist.
Countless rocks scattered like cannonballs, with a few even flying to the distant edge of Crescent Valley, scaring werewolves watching the spectacle into a panic.
After the dust settled.
A meteor-shaped crater several tens of meters in diameter appeared on the cliff.
Galos was embedded in the rock, his wings and tail limp and twisted, with his head and Dragon horns stuck in the rock layer.
"Cough... cough..."
Galos felt a bit dizzy.
Since the explosive scales were used up on the Ogre Clan and had not yet grown back, even with Galos’s physique, crashing into the mountain at such excess speed had caused some internal injuries.
From the distance came the howling cries of shocked werewolves.
Galos forcefully pulled his head out of the rock layer, just in time to see Frost Fang leading a team of werewolf warriors rushing hurriedly towards him, as if witnessing his ’crash.’
He tried to move his body, and the rock immediately made a creaking sound, unable to withstand the pressure.
Galos pulled his entire body out of the mountain, then wobbled a few times in the air before finally landing halfway down the mountain in a somewhat inelegant manner.
The scene was truly embarrassing.
A dignified Giant Dragon losing control and crashing into a mountain from drinking black oil, if the matter spreads, it would be a laughing matter among the Dragon Race for hundreds of years, fortunately, no other Dragon witnessed it.
"I didn’t expect black oil could enhance my flight speed like this."
"So fast that I can’t control it."
"The problem is, uncontrollable power can sometimes pose danger and risk, and can’t be used recklessly."
Galos thought to himself, a spark of inspiration suddenly flashing in his mind: "Wait, what if I add a dose of fairy scale powder to enhance my perception and mental reaction traits, could I control this extreme speed for a short period?"
If feasible,
in the future, when facing formidable foes, he could first down a can of black oil, then a mouthful of scale powder, and activate the Blood Burst Technique. Even if the opponent is a Dragon Race or a Giant, surpassing levels to fight doesn’t seem impossible.
"I’ll test this when I have the chance."
"If successful, this will be a significant trump card of mine!"
Thinking of his increased safety, Galos wagged his tail, his mood lifting.
Looking up at the sky, he prepared to take off again.
By chance, a glimpse, Galos saw a hint of purple metallic shine reflected from the rocks he shattered.
"What’s this?"
Galos’s eyes shifted slightly, then he moved closer, using his Dragon Claw to clear away the rubble, revealing the rock structure beneath and the purple metallic ore embedded within.
—Purple Copper Ore.
It’s not a Magic Metal, but it has good ductility and thermal conductivity, making it a rather decent metal ore and one of the raw materials required for many Alchemy Golem components.
The Sel Wilderness is rich in various types of metal ores.
Purple Copper Ore is not exceedingly rare, but also not common, possessing considerable value, more precious than the Red Copper Ore excavated by Violent Bears in Needleleaf Valley.
Galos’s pain was thrown to the winds.
He focused and sensed for a moment, discovering that beneath the grayish-white cliff contained a good amount of Purple Copper Ore, which could be used for trade with the Southern Countries by reestablishing the caravan channels.
The scales and remnants of the Cliff Snake Dragon would eventually run out.
Galos didn’t want to ’sell’ his own scales or blood and had thought before about utilizing his sensory talent from the Iron Dragon Bloodline to search for some metal ores as trade leverage when he had the chance.
This unexpected discovery saved him some time.
"Crashing into a mountain turned out to uncover a decent metal deposit, truly a blessing in disguise."
Galos mused, feeling his luck finally turned for the better.
The gray-haired werewolves were hastening their way here.
Since discovering the Purple Copper Ore, Galos didn’t hurry to leave, intending to instruct the Howling Moon Clan to mine here, so he waited patiently for a while.
"Dragon Lord!"
Frost Fang’s voice called out from a hundred meters away.
The small female werewolf, with glossy fur and bright eyes, showed a hint of concern.
Although she knew Galos was formidable, at his speed and strength upon crashing into a mountain, it shouldn’t leave him totally unscathed.
"Are you alright? Do you need me to heal you? I recently learned a Healing Spell."
She said.
Galos appeared composed and unconcerned, as if his earlier embarrassment never happened.
He raised his Dragon Claw, tapping the exposed Purple Copper Ore with a claw tip casually: "I had sensed the ore vein here long ago, I merely aimed for precise extraction just now."
The young female werewolf looked at the Dragon covered in dust and rubble, composed and poised, then glanced at the dragon-shaped crater in the mountain wall.
"...Your perception and physical strength are truly astonishing."
Her ears twitched subtly, and she softly agreed.
Galos nodded gently, deftly changing the topic, and instructed: "Remember this location, then lead the clan to mine the Purple Copper Ore. Collect the mined ore and store it in the territory."
Upon hearing this, Frost Fang appeared somewhat puzzled and curious.
She said: "I know about Purple Copper Ore... It’s soft and can’t be made into weapons, not edible, nor can it sharpen claws and fangs. Although rather rare, it has no major use."
The Monster Race of the wilderness, unaware of the true function of various metal ores.
Recognizing Purple Copper already puts her understanding ahead of many wilderness monsters.
The Sel Wilderness is rich in trade routes, wealth abundant, with plentiful mineral resources, yet few monster races understand how to exploit this wealth.
But this is also normal.
Even the more intelligent Dragons may sometimes make errors in judgment due to limited understanding.
Let alone these ignorant monster races.
Galos looked towards the night sky, and said: "Once reestablishing contact with the trade caravans and connecting to the channels for trading with the Southern Countries, these Purple Copper Ores will reveal their true value."
Frost Fang nodded, her eyes showing a hint of curiosity.
What exactly is the true value of these Purple Copper Ores?
The young Shaman was filled with a thirst for knowledge about everything, but seeing Galos’ lack of intent to explain, she dared not inquire further.
Galos rose into the air, heading back towards Crescent Valley.
After marking this location, Frost Fang and the werewolf warriors left several strong warriors to guard, and then also headed back to Crescent Valley.
