Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Investigating Vivian Quincy’s Past

Jasper Ford was in a dimly lit area. From Vivian Quincy’s vantage point, she couldn’t see his face clearly, but she could distinctly feel his gaze. It was cold, so very cold—the kind that chilled you to the bone.

She couldn’t help but tighten her clothes around herself.

Hayden Kaye noticed and took off his jacket, draping it over her shoulders. "Are you cold?"

"No." Vivian Quincy shook her head.

Hayden said, "The weather’s probably about to turn. You should bring an extra jacket to work from now on. It wouldn’t be good if you caught a cold."

Vivian Quincy pursed her lips and looked down, not saying a word.

Hayden didn’t notice the strange look in her eyes. He drove her home. It was a short distance, but due to the route, driving to Vivian Quincy’s place required a detour and wasn’t any more convenient than walking.

The entire way, Vivian Quincy kept staring at the rearview mirror. She had a nagging feeling that Jasper Ford was behind them, so she kept checking it. The mirror was empty, showing nothing at all, but the chilling sensation still made her uneasy.

When they arrived at her apartment building, Vivian Quincy returned the jacket to Hayden. "Thank you. I’ll head up now."

"Can I come up for a bit?" Hayden asked.

Vivian Quincy shook her head. "No, I don’t think so."

"Alright." Hayden didn’t insist and drove away.

Vivian Quincy breathed a sigh of relief. She went home, showered, and got ready for bed. While video chatting with Beanie, she also told Anna about Jasper Ford investigating her.

Anna said, "That’s a good thing! What are you afraid of?"

"How could that possibly be a good thing?" Vivian Quincy asked, confused.

Anna said, "We’ve already brought our Beanie home. Let Jasper Ford investigate all he wants. Beanie isn’t living at his house, so even if he finds out the boy is your child, he can’t do anything to him. Most importantly, he might even help you uncover what happened six years ago. Maybe Beanie will finally be able to find his father."

"I guess you have a point." Vivian Quincy nodded seriously, no longer worried. After the call, she went straight to sleep.

She slept soundly the entire night.

Jasper Ford, however, couldn’t sleep at all. He was restless and irritable.

Ever since he started speculating about the relationship between Vivian Quincy and Beanie, his mood had grown extremely agitated. He ended up calling Caden Chandler three times during the night to press for answers.

Caden Chandler was at his wit’s end. Afraid he’d be fired the next day for doing a poor job, he found a private hospital and ordered two separate paternity tests.

Early the next morning, just as Jasper Ford arrived at the office, he received a call from Bradley Grant.

"Jasper, you’ve really done it!" Bradley Grant’s voice was thrilled.

Jasper Ford frowned and asked coldly, "What’s wrong with you this early in the morning?"

"I heard a while back that you had a little kid with you. He’s your son, isn’t he?" Bradley Grant retorted.

Jasper Ford knew he was talking about Beanie Quincy. With a cold expression, he said, "He is not."

"Then why did you do a paternity test at my hospital? I heard it confirmed a blood relationship." Bradley Grant had been making his rounds at the hospital early that morning and happened to see Caden Chandler. He’d asked around and found out that Caden had ordered a paternity test at their facility.

Someone as sharp as Bradley Grant would naturally connect the dots back to Jasper Ford immediately.

He spent the whole morning showering Jasper Ford with praise, congratulating him on his new son.

Looking displeased, Jasper Ford hung up, completely ignoring Bradley Grant.

At nine o’clock, Caden Chandler rushed into the company and placed the freshly printed paternity test results on Jasper Ford’s desk.

Jasper Ford raised an eyebrow. "So fast this time?"

"I was worried you needed it urgently, President Ford, and the public hospitals are slow. So I went to Master Grant’s private hospital and had two tests done. Here are the results," Caden Chandler explained earnestly, catching his breath.

Jasper Ford opened it. It was just as that blabbermouth Bradley Grant had said: a maternal relationship!

Those two words seared themselves into Jasper Ford’s eyes.

He leaned back lazily in his chair, a thousand thoughts racing through his mind.

Caden Chandler saw the results and was stunned. "This... it has to be fake, right?"

"You’re the one who ordered the test. Are you saying you don’t know the results?" Jasper Ford questioned, a flicker of anger visible on his exceptionally handsome face.

Caden Chandler’s mouth twitched. It was true he’d handled it, but Vivian Quincy and Beanie Quincy looked nothing alike!

Besides, Vivian Quincy had clearly only met Beanie Quincy a few days ago, and they barely spoke to each other. How could they be mother and son?

And another thing, Beanie Quincy had said at the very beginning that Wanda Quincy was his biological mother!

Caden Chandler felt like his brain was short-circuiting. He couldn’t process so much information at once. He forced himself to look up and ask, "President Ford, it’s possible these results are fake."

"Are you sure?" Jasper Ford’s voice grew colder.

Caden Chandler shook his head. "I’m not sure, but... I just don’t think they seem like mother and son, even though they both have the surname Quincy."

"Let’s wait for the second test results," Jasper Ford said, shoving the report into a drawer.

Caden Chandler backed out of the office and happened to see Vivian Quincy at her desk. He couldn’t help but stare at her for a moment. ’She’s so young and beautiful... she doesn’t look like someone who’s had a child...’

With the second report still pending, Caden Chandler didn’t dare say a word to anyone.

At noon, that guy Bradley Grant showed up with great fanfare to congratulate Jasper Ford, acting as if he was on something. He was nearly thrown out by Jasper before he finally realized he’d gotten it wrong and sheepishly shut his mouth.

As he was leaving, he deliberately walked over to Vivian Quincy’s desk. "So you’re the woman Jasper has his eye on?"

Vivian Quincy was completely baffled.

"Not bad looking," Bradley Grant said with a smile, continuing, "It’s just that your taste isn’t great. Why’d you fall for a guy who’s not quite up to par?"

Vivian Quincy was even more confused. She wanted to ask what he was talking about, but the man just smiled and left.

It wasn’t until the second paternity test report landed on Jasper Ford’s desk that Caden Chandler, who had been holding it in for two days, finally couldn’t take it anymore.

Both reports clearly stated that she and Beanie Quincy were mother and son!

When Caden Chandler learned of this result, he was reeling. He felt like he’d been deceived. Jasper Ford, on the other hand, fell into deep thought. He couldn’t understand why Vivian Quincy would lie.

Vivian Quincy’s personnel file clearly showed she was unmarried and had no record of giving birth.

The results of every investigation clearly indicated she was a single woman.

’If Beanie really is Vivian Quincy’s child, why would she hide it?’

’Is having had a child really that shameful for a woman like her, who seems to have no sense of decency?’

’Also, if Beanie is really her child, that means Vivian Quincy knew Wanda Quincy from the very beginning. But in my memory, Wanda and Vivian weren’t close.’

’But if they really weren’t close, why would Vivian Quincy bring Beanie to ruin our engagement party?’

’What kind of unspeakable secret is hidden here?’

Caden Chandler said, "President Ford, what should we do? Should we call Vivian Quincy in and ask her about it?"

Jasper Ford shook his head, his sharp gaze fixed on the two reports on his desk. He said in a low voice, "Go investigate what kind of past interactions Wanda Quincy and Vivian Quincy have had. Don’t let anyone know."
