A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 120: The Consequences of Offending Jasper Ford
Vivian Quincy’s attitude was far too arrogant!
Summer Jacobs was actually somewhat intimidated by her demeanor. Her expression soured as she snatched the documents from the desk and scurried away without a backward glance, not daring to palm her work off on Vivian Quincy again.
The other people in the office exchanged glances. Though no one said a word, they all had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
Alice Wood secretly asked Vivian Quincy, "What happened in there just now? That Wanda Quincy looked like she was hurt pretty badly."
"Was she? I don’t think so," Vivian Quincy replied with a smile.
Alice Wood said, "Did you... hit her?" She deliberately lowered her voice as she spoke, her question filled with intense suspicion.
Vivian Quincy shook her head. "I did not."
"No way. I clearly saw a mark on her chin. Vivian, you’re incredible, but I’m suddenly a little worried about you." Alice Wood paused, her voice full of concern. "No matter what the CEO’s attitude toward Wanda Quincy is, she’s still going to be the future Young Madam of the Ford Family. I think you should take it easy."
Vivian Quincy blinked her big, beautiful eyes and said with a smile, "The CEO will never marry her."
Alice Wood’s face paled at her words. She quickly glanced around and reminded her in a low voice, "Don’t talk nonsense! Don’t let the CEO hear you say something like that, or he’ll be furious!"
But Vivian Quincy remained unfazed. Her bright eyes sparkled with a captivating light as she said, word by word, "Everything I said is true." Her tone was so serious, so earnest, it was as if Jasper Ford himself had admitted it.
Alice Wood was starting to get curious. She couldn’t help but lean closer to Vivian Quincy, and after scanning their surroundings, she asked very seriously, "That... don’t tell me the CEO said that? Did he personally tell you he wouldn’t marry Wanda Quincy?"
"No, he didn’t," Vivian Quincy denied, shaking her head.
Alice Wood pouted. "Then how can you be so sure?"
Vivian Quincy said, "The CEO hasn’t admitted it, but I think that Kimberly Shaw is a good match. She’s beautiful, comes from a prestigious family, and is on the same social standing as the Ford Family. She’s much better than Wanda Quincy. I can also tell Kimberly Shaw is interested in the CEO."
"That arrogant, domineering young lady?" Alice Wood’s lip twitched. "I bet you don’t know she was adopted by the Shaw Family."
Vivian Quincy’s eyebrow twitched, her eyes full of surprise. "Are you sure?"
Alice Wood was surprised that Vivian Quincy didn’t know. She whispered, "Kimberly Shaw is just really lucky. I heard that over twenty years ago, Master Shaw’s son and daughter-in-law met with a fatal accident, and their child died with them. Just as the old couple from the Shaw family were consumed by grief, Kimberly Shaw appeared. They took her home and raised her!"
"All these years, the Shaw Family has spoiled Kimberly Shaw rotten. She wasn’t born a high-society lady, but they’ve coddled her into having a serious princess complex."
Opinions on Kimberly Shaw varied among the company’s employees, but one thing they all agreed on was that she was just lucky to have been taken in by the elderly Shaws. They felt she had nothing to brag about.
Compared to Wanda Quincy, at least she has actual abilities. She has been running her own company for years and has been quite diligent, achieving some success.
For people like them who relied on their own skills to get by, Wanda Quincy was far superior to Kimberly Shaw.
That’s why Alice Wood didn’t think Kimberly Shaw could possibly usurp Wanda Quincy’s position as fiancée.
Patting Vivian Quincy’s shoulder reassuringly, Alice Wood said, "You’re still too young. Even though Wanda Quincy isn’t a good person, I still think you need to know your limits when dealing with her. The CEO still dotes on her, after all. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stuck around for so many years without leaving."
Just as she said that, the door to Jasper Ford’s office was suddenly pushed open.
No one knew when Jasper Ford had come out and walked up beside the two of them.
When Alice Wood noticed him, all the color drained from her face. She frantically straightened her posture and said, "M-Mr. Ford, what are you doing out here? Do you have instructions for us?"
Vivian Quincy was also startled by Jasper Ford’s sudden appearance. She instinctively kicked her desk, and her chair slid backward from the force, instantly creating distance between her and Jasper Ford. The only problem was that the distance was a bit too large, leaving Vivian Quincy feeling rather awkward.
Noticing the strange look in the man’s eyes as he watched her, Vivian Quincy gave a light cough to ease her own embarrassment. With a stiff smile, she stood up, pulled her chair, and carefully walked back to her desk, one step at a time.
Her cautious demeanor, as if she were walking on thin ice, was reflected in the man’s eyes, and the corner of his mouth slowly curved into an enigmatic smile.
But the more he smiled, the more terrified Vivian Quincy became!
Vivian Quincy felt that at this moment, Jasper Ford was exactly like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His smile wasn’t gentle at all; no matter how she looked at it, it was unsettling.
Vivian Quincy was a little scared. Her big, round eyes darted back and forth, but she didn’t dare to look at Jasper Ford.
Sit down. Head down. Work.
A series of simple, crisp movements, executed in one smooth motion!
Across from her, Alice Wood was so shocked her jaw almost hit the floor. ’This Vivian Quincy has some serious nerve! The CEO is standing right in front of her, and she doesn’t even greet him?’
’Or is it that after becoming the CEO’s assistant, Vivian Quincy thinks she’s different from us little secretaries?’
Alice Wood’s heart stirred with a pang of jealousy.
Her clear eyes flashed as she desperately tried to signal Vivian Quincy to pay some attention to the great CEO beside her, who seemed to be on the verge of erupting.
Vivian Quincy looked up blankly. "Mr. Ford, is there something you need?"
Her voice was crisp and pleasant, extremely nice to listen to.
Jasper Ford snorted coldly. "Is the material I asked for ready?"
Vivian Quincy remembered that Jasper Ford had told her to print the meeting materials not long ago. With the whole commotion caused by Wanda Quincy, she had completely forgotten. She hurriedly said, "I’m sorry, Mr. Ford. I haven’t finished it yet. Could you wait a moment?"
"This month’s bonus is docked." The man tossed out the cold words, turned, and left.
Vivian Quincy stood there, stunned. It took her a good while to react and call out to Jasper Ford, "But didn’t you say you needed this in the afternoon, Mr. Ford?"
"Am I the boss, or are you?" the man retorted sharply.
Vivian Quincy quickly replied, "You’re the boss. You are."
"So you don’t want next month’s bonus either, is that right?" Jasper Ford asked again.
Vivian Quincy’s heart clenched. ’My god,’ she thought, ’how can there be such a shameless man in this world? All I did was ask one more question, and he’s docking my bonus again!’
’I haven’t even been working here for that long, but Jasper Ford has already docked almost a whole year’s worth of my bonuses!’
Vivian Quincy suddenly felt that working for Jasper Ford was a faster way to burn through money than gambling!
She silently lowered her head, and with her back to Jasper Ford, she started muttering curses under her breath.
Seeing this, Alice Wood couldn’t help but laugh. "You really are bold, daring to talk back to the CEO. Serves you right. It’s almost payday at the end of the month. This is going to hurt."
"Whatever. Working for this cheapskate, how big could the bonus be anyway?" Vivian Quincy couldn’t help but grumble.
As fate would have it, Jasper Ford, who was walking ahead, overheard Vivian Quincy’s words. After entering his office, he dialed the finance department. "Notify Finance to calculate this month’s salaries this afternoon. Especially Vivian Quincy’s. Bring me her pay stub after work starts this afternoon."
