Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Another Paternity Test

In the coffee shop.

Vivian Quincy was sitting at a window seat, having waited for a long time.

From nearby came a CLACK, CLACK, CLACK—the crisp, loud, and rhythmic sound of high heels on the floor.

Vivian Quincy looked up. The woman approaching her had a very elegant air. She wasn’t beautiful, per se, but her makeup was lavish, and her clothes were all expensive, big-name brands. Her face was unfamiliar; Vivian was certain she didn’t know this person.

"You know what happened six years ago?" Vivian Quincy got straight to the point, in no mood for pleasantries.

The woman sat down. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Laura King, and I’m Jeremy King’s sister."

Vivian Quincy looked confused. ’What would Jeremy King’s sister want with me?’

Laura King said, "I know what you’re thinking. I actually came to see you to apologize."

"Apologize to me for what?" Vivian Quincy asked.

Laura King explained, "My brother experienced some trauma when he was young, which twisted his values. He likes to play around with women, especially young, naive girls. I know all about this. His wife’s status in Crestfall is quite significant. I believe, given how much older my brother is than you, that you probably weren’t with him willingly back then. That’s why I’m here to apologize to you on his behalf."

"I’m so sorry!" Laura King said with emphasis.

Vivian Quincy understood her purpose in coming. "I think you must be mistaken."

"I’m not mistaken. After hearing what my sister-in-law said, I had you investigated. I already know about your past. I don’t condone what my brother did, but I was powerless back then. I truly sympathize with what you’ve been through." Laura King paused, a look of heartfelt pity in her eyes. "I heard you have a child. How is he doing now?"

The mention of Beanie made Vivian Quincy instantly wary. "What are you trying to do?"

"Miss Quincy, please don’t be alarmed. I just want to clarify something. You may not know my sister-in-law’s temperament, but she’s not an easy person to deal with. Over the years, I personally know of three illegitimate children she has had maimed."

"The last time, my brother even got into a huge fight with her over you and sent her to the hospital. She’ll be discharged in a few days. When that happens, you and Beanie will be in mortal danger."

At this point, Laura King spoke to Vivian Quincy with great sincerity, "You’re just an assistant; you can’t stand up to my sister-in-law. That’s why I want to confirm if Beanie is a child of the King Family. If he is, I will ensure his safety."

"There’s no need to check. He’s definitely not." Vivian Quincy immediately rejected Laura King’s suggestion. She knew exactly who the man from that night was, or at least the feeling of it, and it was nothing like Jeremy King. Besides, Vivian remembered that after she had slept with the wrong person, Fiona Hughes had slapped her for standing up Jeremy King.

Laura King asked suspiciously, "How can you be so sure he isn’t?"

"I know what kind of person my child’s father is. It’s absolutely not him," Vivian Quincy said.

Laura King replied, "I think you still need to do another paternity test. Whether he is or isn’t, this will protect you and your child, wouldn’t it?"

That sentence struck a chord with Vivian Quincy. Indeed, Laura King was right.

Vivian Quincy didn’t really know what Mrs. King was like, only that she was very difficult to handle. Most importantly, Mrs. King had already insisted that Beanie was Jeremy King’s child who would one day return to fight for the King Family’s fortune. If they did another paternity test with Laura King right now to prove Beanie had no blood relation to the King Family, Mrs. King would surely stop bothering her and Beanie.

After careful consideration, Vivian Quincy agreed.

Laura King said, "I need to call my sister-in-law to the hospital as well, so we can wait for the results on the spot. That’s the only way she’ll believe I’m not deceiving her."

"Okay," Vivian Quincy agreed.

So, the next day, Vivian Quincy took a day off from Jasper Ford.

She took Anna and Beanie to the hospital designated by Laura King, ready for the test.

Laura King was late, so Vivian Quincy and the others waited outside the hospital.

Anna said, "How could it possibly be Jeremy King? How could a coarse, ugly brute like him father our handsome and adorable little angel, Beanie?"

Beanie also felt a strange repulsion toward Jeremy King. His innocent, handsome, and adorable little face fell into deep thought. "Mommy, I don’t really look like you, either. There aren’t many parts of my face that resemble yours."

’Logically,’ he thought, ’the person who could produce someone as handsome as me can’t be all that bad-looking.’

’My daddy must be an incredibly handsome man. No matter how you look at it, I can’t be Jeremy King’s son!’

Facing their doubts, Vivian Quincy said with great certainty, "I know you’re not his son. But the King Family wants an answer. For your safety, it’s best we clear everything up today."

Vivian Quincy didn’t believe any of the evidence presented by Wanda Quincy and Hayden Kaye; she thought it was all fake. But now, Laura King herself was here to take a DNA sample from Beanie for testing. Since Laura was Jeremy King’s biological sister, as long as there was no biological relationship between them, it would prove that Beanie was not Jeremy King’s son.

It would provide closure for everyone involved.

Later, both Laura King and Mrs. King arrived. Laura King was fine, maintaining a gentle smile the entire time. Mrs. King, however, was not nearly as friendly. Her eyes looked as if they were laced with poison, and she had visible injuries on her face, likely from her recent fight with Jeremy King.

"Alright, everyone’s here. Sister-in-law, I know what you’ve done in the past, and I don’t want to see another child of the King Family persecuted by you. This time, I’ve agreed to your demand to do a paternity test with Beanie. If he isn’t my brother’s son, I hope you will apologize to the mother and child. If he is, I hope you won’t harm him."

Mrs. King sneered, "Is that possible? Everything the King Family owns is mine. Unless she guarantees she won’t take a single penny of the King Family’s fortune, then maybe I’ll consider letting him live safely until he’s eighteen."

Her smile was sinister and vicious, radiating killing intent. Everything was aimed at Beanie.

Vivian Quincy said, "Mrs. King, I have no interest in your family’s money. But if you dare harm my child, I won’t let you get away with it!"

"That’s right! If you dare to lay a hand on Beanie, I’ll be the first one to come after you!" Anna added, furious.

Mrs. King snorted coldly and urged them to hurry up and get the DNA sample for the test.

After that, they all waited at the hospital. Mrs. King paced back and forth, anxious and restless. Every now and then, she would shoot a venomous glare at Beanie.

Beanie glared right back, his little face puffed up. ’I’m not the son of that old, ugly pervert!’

Vivian Quincy was very calm. Apart from the mother and son, everyone else was anxious.

Finally, the results were out.

Mrs. King was the first to get her hands on them.

Her anxious expression calmed down after she saw the results.

Vivian Quincy understood immediately. ’I knew it wasn’t him,’ she thought. Otherwise, Mrs. King would have thrown a fit on the spot.

Smiling, she walked over and took the paternity test report, ready to take a look. But suddenly, Mrs. King’s expression changed, and like an enraged bitch, she lunged at Vivian Quincy!
