A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 2: Good Job, Baby
「Six years later. St. Declan’s Church.」
Wanda Quincy, who had given up her chance to study abroad, went from being a complete nobody to the head of the Quincy Group, all thanks to the Ford family’s support.
Today was her and Jasper Ford’s engagement party!
Dressed in a white evening gown, Wanda Quincy stood elegantly on the stage. Opposite her was an impossibly aristocratic man!
A tailored suit accentuated his tall, lean figure to perfection. His handsome face, which could rival the gods, was dazzling under the lights. His innate, kingly aura outshone everyone else in the room.
A brilliant smile lit up Wanda Quincy’s exquisite, alluring face. This was the man she adored, and today, she was finally getting engaged to him.
Even though she knew Jasper Ford only wanted a fiancée to appease his family’s elders, Wanda Quincy was still overjoyed. She announced proudly, "Welcome, everyone. Today is the engagement ceremony for myself and Jasper Ford, the CEO of The Empire, Crestfall’s top business conglomerate. I hope you all..."
"Mommy!"
Before Wanda could finish, a small, pudgy shadow rushed onto the stage and latched onto her leg.
Inside the packed hall, everyone stared in confusion at the child who had just rushed the stage.
Wanda Quincy was completely stunned. "Little one," she said hurriedly, "you have the wrong person."
"Mommy, it’s me, your favorite Beanie! How could you abandon me and Daddy just to marry this pretty boy!"
The child, who looked to be about four or five, was just a tiny little thing. The moment he looked up, his eyes brimmed with tears.
As soon as the little boy spoke, the guests let out a collective gasp!
"Wanda Quincy has a son?"
"Why haven’t we heard about this before?"
"So Ninth Master Ford is going to raise another man’s kid? Damn, what a bombshell!"
An uproar swept through the crowd.
Jasper Ford, who hadn’t wanted to attend the engagement party to begin with, frowned slightly. His icy gaze fell upon Wanda Quincy!
A shiver ran down Wanda Quincy’s spine under his sharp gaze. She frantically shoved the child away. "What nonsense are you spouting? I don’t know you! Whose child is this?"
"I can’t believe you’re this kind of person, Mommy! You’d abandon your own son for money." The boy pointed a chubby finger at the aristocratic Jasper Ford and wailed, "This strange man is old and ugly! He’s nothing compared to Daddy. Please don’t marry him, Mommy, okay? Wouldn’t we be happier as a family of three, going back to our village to be farmers?"
Everyone began to look at Wanda Quincy in a very strange way.
Furious and humiliated, Wanda Quincy called for security. "Stop your nonsense! I don’t know you! Guards, come and drag this little brat away!"
"Mommy doesn’t even want Beanie anymore... Beanie doesn’t want to live." Tears streamed down the boy’s face as he cried his heart out.
Everyone was stunned by Wanda Quincy’s behavior!
Who would have thought Wanda Quincy was so vicious she would abandon her husband and son just to marry into a rich family!
Look at the poor little darling, his eyes are all red from crying. How pitiful.
Not only did Wanda Quincy not comfort him, she actually shoved him away. What kind of person does that?
The guests all wore varied expressions, but Jasper Ford, who stood aloof like an emperor, simply watched with a deep gaze, utterly devoid of warmth.
Wanda Quincy hurriedly tried to explain. "Jasper, please, let me explain. I really don’t know that child..."
"Replace her," Jasper Ford said to the assistant behind him, his voice chillingly calm, showing no mercy whatsoever.
All he wanted was a fiancée; who she was didn’t matter at all.
The crowd gasped.
All eyes were on Wanda Quincy. To be rejected so publicly—this was a bombshell of a story!
Wanda Quincy completely panicked. In her desperation, she grabbed Jasper Ford’s sleeve. The man’s long legs came to a halt. He glanced back, and a single icy glare made Wanda snatch her hand away in fear. Tears streaming down her face, she watched helplessly as Jasper Ford shrugged off the jacket she had touched, tossed it into a trash can, and walked away!
Furious, Wanda Quincy stormed back onto the stage. The little troublemaker had already scrambled up from the floor. His face was still streaked with tears, but if one looked closely, they could see a clear glint of triumph in his eyes!
Seething with humiliation and rage, Wanda Quincy raised her hand to slap the child! But before her hand could connect, her wrist was caught in a firm grip.
A clear, bright laugh rang out. "Sister, it’s been a while!"
That voice...
Wanda Quincy froze, her eyes wide with utter disbelief!
"You... What are you doing here?"
"How could I possibly miss my dear sister’s joyous occasion?" Vivian Quincy’s bright red lips curved into a confident, breathtakingly beautiful smile.
Wanda Quincy couldn’t hide her fury. "Have you forgotten what Mom told you all those years ago?" she snapped. "What right do you have to show up at my engagement party? Are you trying to get revenge on me?"
"You could say that. Are you satisfied, Sister?" Vivian Quincy’s smile was radiant, and her exquisitely beautiful face caused many of the remaining guests to turn and stare.
Wanda hated Vivian’s smile. ’She looks just like a vixen,’ she thought. Many of the guests hadn’t left yet, and as the lofty head of the Quincy Group, it would be beneath her to make a scene by scolding Vivian in public.
Wanda dragged Vivian to a secluded corner and warned in a low voice, "I’m giving you three days to get out of Crestfall. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret it!"
Afraid of being seen, Wanda Quincy hurried away, presumably to chase after Jasper Ford.
The church was in chaos as guests began to leave. A small figure darted through the crowd and scampered over to Vivian Quincy’s side.
"Mommy, wasn’t my acting great? Praise me, praise me!" The little boy lifted his innocent face, a mischievous grin spreading across it.
Vivian Quincy’s heart melted at the sight of her adorable little sweetie. She scooped the boy up and gave him a big kiss. "You did great! My little baby is so amazing! Come on, I’ll treat you to some bubble tea as a reward."
She took Beanie Quincy’s hand and left the church.
Six years ago, not long after being sold to a place called Nightfall by Fiona Hughes, she had escaped. She spent months in hiding before fleeing to another province, barely managing to keep her life.
Later, she discovered she was pregnant.
It was that man’s child.
At the time, Vivian had wanted to get an abortion, but the doctor advised against it, saying the fetus was too far along. She had no choice but to see the pregnancy through.
Looking at the little boy before her, as adorable as a porcelain doll, Vivian felt a wave of gratitude. ’Thank goodness I didn’t go through with it,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I would have never had this precious little baby.’
In a dessert shop, Beanie sat on a high stool, swinging his short little legs. He held his bubble tea and asked innocently, "Mommy, is my daddy really in Crestfall?"
"He should be." Vivian Quincy’s entire reason for returning this time was to find out who that man from all those years ago was.
"That’s great! I can finally meet Daddy! I wonder what he looks like? A handsome guy like me must have a handsome dad, right? What should I say when I meet him...?" the little one mused, chewing happily on his straw, his small, round face, no bigger than a palm, beaming with a sweet smile.
After they finished, Vivian Quincy took Beanie Quincy to The Imperial Saint Hotel. She wanted to inquire about the guest who stayed in room 797 on that night six years ago. After a moment of searching, the front desk attendant’s expression flickered, but they shook their head and said, "I can’t find anything."
"That can’t be right," Vivian said, surprised. "Your hotel doesn’t keep records?"
The attendant shook their head. "I’m sorry, ma’am, I really couldn’t find any record. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"
"In that case... I’d like a room, please." Vivian was disappointed. She took the key card and led Beanie upstairs.
The moment Vivian was gone, the attendant quickly made a phone call. "That woman is here!"
