A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 69: The Cold-Blooded and Ruthless Man
Vivian Quincy was stunned by Jasper Ford’s sudden appearance at the door. Her mind went blank, and she stared with wide, panicked, and fearful eyes.
"Who’s in the room?" Jasper Ford’s eyes narrowed dangerously. His steady, powerful voice was surprisingly pleasant to the ear as he reached out to push Vivian Quincy aside and walk in.
Vivian Quincy quickly blocked Jasper Ford’s path, her movements swift as she shut the door.
Jasper Ford’s sharp gaze was clearly filled with displeasure. He looked down, his cold eyes landing on Vivian Quincy, who was now also locked out. "Why did you lock the door?"
"My friend is inside. It’s not convenient for you to go in." Vivian Quincy’s voice was flustered. As she spoke, she instinctively shielded the doorway with her body.
She had a guilty conscience.
A cruel arc formed on Jasper Ford’s handsome lips as he sneered, "What kind of friend has to be hidden away from people?"
"It’s the one from last night. President Ford, it’s almost time for work. You should head back to the company." Vivian Quincy said, pulling at Jasper Ford’s sleeve and trying to lead him away from the door.
The man subtly pulled his hand back and said casually, "If it’s the girl from last night, then there’s nothing to hide. Tell her to open the door."
"No." Vivian Quincy spread her arms to block him, refusing to let him take a single step closer to the door no matter what he said. A stubborn look was on her fair face.
The man stopped. His long fingers gripped her chin forcefully as he warned in a low voice, "Vivian Quincy, have I been spoiling you too much lately? Is that why you dare to defy my orders again and again?"
Vivian Quincy was stunned. ’Jasper Ford, spoiling me? What a joke! When has this demon ever spoiled me?!’
Beanie was inside. To ensure their safety, Vivian Quincy would absolutely not let Jasper Ford in.
She said very seriously, "It’s true that I’m your employee, President Ford, but this is my home. I’d rather you didn’t pry too much into your subordinate’s private affairs."
At the company, she might listen to everything Jasper Ford said because he was her boss and she had to. But outside of work, there was no reason for Vivian Quincy to obey his every command.
Her stubborn, firm words and the clear rejection on her face made Jasper Ford burn with anger. Yet, he said nothing. He just looked at Vivian Quincy and let out a low laugh—a laugh that was crisp, pleasant, and full of meaning.
Her chin throbbed. He was gripping it so hard it felt like he wanted to crush her in his palm. She scrunched up her face in pain, her lips turning deathly pale, but she was too stubborn to make a sound.
"My office. Five minutes." He tossed out the sentence coldly, turned, and left, his departure smooth and without a hint of reluctance.
Vivian Quincy let out a sigh of relief and went back inside her home.
Seeing her pale face, Anna couldn’t help but ask, "How did it go? Is he gone?"
"He’s gone. I have to go back to the office now. I’ll leave Beanie with you," Vivian Quincy said guiltily.
Anna shook her head. "It’s fine, I’ll take good care of him. You should hurry back to work. Jasper Ford seems terrifying when he’s angry. You’d better be careful."
"Okay." Before leaving, Vivian Quincy planted a loving kiss on Beanie’s forehead and whispered, "Mommy will come find you at Auntie Sawyer’s after work."
"Okay." Beanie nodded obediently. His little hand touched Vivian Quincy’s reddened chin. "Mommy, are you hurt?"
"No." Vivian Quincy shook her head, gave Anna a few more instructions, and hurried away.
Jasper Ford had said to be at the office in five minutes, but there was simply no way to make it in time.
Back at the company, Jasper Ford unapologetically tore into her in front of the entire department, his words exceptionally harsh. Everyone in the department couldn’t help but steal glances at Vivian Quincy. They had thought she was some lucky girl blessed by the heavens, who had suddenly risen to become the president’s favored assistant. It seemed they had all been overthinking things.
The president had never berated anyone so fiercely before. Vivian Quincy was the first!
And so, she was successfully demoted from being the president’s assistant, a position second only to one and above all others, to the lowest level—sent back to the warehouse to work as a loader!
The others in her department were very sympathetic. What kind of job was loading for a normal girl to do? Even a strong man might not be able to handle the work.
Vivian Quincy didn’t say anything. She just packed her things and left.
To be honest, just having to see Jasper Ford’s intimidating face every day was exhausting enough. She would rather go back to her old position than be his assistant.
The few employees in the warehouse hadn’t expected Vivian Quincy to be sent back so quickly. They couldn’t help but mock her. "We thought she’d hit the jackpot after just a few days. Who knew? A sparrow is still a sparrow; it can’t just turn into a phoenix."
"See? Being pretty is useless these days. I knew she wouldn’t last long."
"And she had the nerve to compete for a man with a golden girl like Wanda Quincy. I don’t know where she gets the audacity. Now that she’s been played with and kicked to the curb, it’s actually kind of pathetic."
The warehouse employees who disliked Vivian Quincy taunted her one after another.
The supervisor walked over and said sternly, "That’s enough nonsense from you all."
"We’re not talking nonsense! As soon as Vivian Quincy joined the company, she was hooking up with Caden Chandler, and then she used dirty tricks to seduce the president! Otherwise, how could she have become the president’s assistant with her qualifications?"
"Yeah! She’s the one who did something so shameless. Why won’t you let us talk about it, Supervisor?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
The two women retorted.
The supervisor’s expression changed slightly. He snapped, "You all have too much time on your hands, is that it? If you don’t want to work, then pack your things and get out. I’ll just hire new people."
"Supervisor, you..." The two women shot a furious glare at Vivian Quincy, but ultimately, they were afraid of being fired. Despite their dissatisfaction, they obediently walked away.
Soon, only Vivian Quincy and the supervisor were left.
The supervisor asked, "Why are you back again? Did you displease the president?"
"No." Vivian Quincy shook her head.
The supervisor said, "How is that possible? The president rarely targets employees. If he specifically transferred you to his side, he must have a special fondness for you. Why didn’t you seize the opportunity?"
Vivian Quincy was speechless. ’Jasper Ford has a special fondness for me? I don’t think so!’
As if to punish Vivian Quincy, all the work in the warehouse meant for loaders was assigned to her. She had to handle the entire warehouse’s volume by herself, and no one was allowed to help. Vivian Quincy felt that Jasper Ford was trying to kill her.
But she hadn’t done anything wrong, and she certainly wouldn’t beg for mercy. She worked without a single word of complaint.
She had never done such strenuous labor before. It was exhausting—the kind of tired where her hands and feet felt like they were about to be worn raw. At first, Vivian Quincy didn’t pay it much mind. But after working continuously for six hours, she felt a sharp pain in her palms. Looking down at her ungloved hands, she saw that the skin had broken and was bleeding.
Later, the warehouse door was pushed open.
Vivian Quincy thought someone had come to help. She turned her head in pleasant surprise, only to see the supervisor walking in quickly.
"You’re..."
The supervisor glanced at her bleeding hands and gave her a pair of gloves. "The president said that if you don’t finish unloading all this cargo, you can’t clock out."
